The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad pbuh First Sermon All praise is due to Allah Who bestows His Favours and bounties upon His Servants abundantly. He honoured us by sending us the seal of the Prophets. I bear witness that there is no deity save Allah, having no associates. I also bear witness that our Master and Prophet Muhammad is the Servant of Allah and His Messenger. He is the Master of the former and the later peoples. Allah the Almighty has expanded for him his breast and raised high for him his repute. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his family and companions, and all those who follow them in righteousness till the Day of Judgment. As to what follows, I urge you and myself, O Servants of Allah, to be aware that you are asked to obey Him the Most Exalted in line with His orders: O you who have believed, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger; He will [then] give you a double portion of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk and forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Al-Hadeed: 28). Dear Muslims, In the first of Rabeea Al Awwal, we commemorate once again the anniversary of the birth of the best of the creatures and the mercy that Allah the Almighty has sent to the whole humanity. It is the birth anniversary of our Master Muhammad pbuh, the seal of the Prophets. He was the supplication of his forefather, Ibrahim pbuh, who invoked his Lord saying, our Lord, and send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (Al-Baqara: 129). He pbuh is also the glad tidings that Prophet Isa (Jesus) pbuh has brought to his people as he said, and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad. (As-Saff: 6).

There were many glad signs that associated the birth of the Prophet pbuh. One of those is that on the day of his birth his mother, Sayida Amna Bint Wahb, dreamt that she gave birth to a bright shining light that with it, the castles of Sham (Syria) shone too. So, his birth was a light with which Allah the Most Exalted has enlightened the whole world and revealed the clear truth. About him, Allah the Almighty says, there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book. (Al-Maida: 15). In this Aya, the clear Book is the holy Quran, and the light is our Master and Prophet Muhammad pbuh whom Allah the Most High has honoured with the highest and most noble lineage, and granted him honour and glory. O Servants of Allah, It is known that the Messenger of Allah pbuh became an orphan before he was born. Nonetheless, Allah the Most Beneficent, has engulfed him with his care and endowed upon him his favours. An illustration of this can be seen in the following Aya in which Allah the Almighty says, and your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied. Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge? (Ad-Dhuha: 5-6). Sayida Halima Al Saadiya was honoured by breast-feeding the Prophet pbuh. He pbuh used to bring blessings wherever he would go, and an example of this was in the blessings that he brought to Halima. Halima went to Mecca with a group of women in search of children to breastfeed in a year of stiff starvation. When she saw the Prophet pbuh with his bright and fine-looking face, she felt that her heart was attached to him. So, she lifted him with her hand and embraced him close to her breast. As soon as she held him in her lap, her breasts became full of milk. So, she breastfed him until he was satisfied and said, Then my husband went to milk the milk the shcamel, he found it with plenty of milk. So, he brought sufficient amount of milk for us. What a blessed night it was; we were satisfied 2

and our children went to sleep with full stomachs, after spending many nights struggling to sleep because of starvation. Seeing this, her husband said to her, O Halima! Indeed, I believe that you have brought a blessed child. When the Prophet pbuh was five years old, Halima returned him to his family where his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, looked after him. He loved him so dearly and took so good care of him that he preferred him over anyone else. To this, Abdul Muttalib used to say, This grandson of mine will definitely have a high status. After the demise of his mother and grandfather, he was put under the guardianship of his uncle Abu Talib who, at that time, did not have much wealth and had many children. As a result, the Prophet pbuh had to bear the responsibility while still a child. So, he worked as a shepherd, herding the sheep, in order to support his uncle. O You Who Love the Prophet pbuh, Please know that the Messenger of Allah pbuh was protected by the care that Allah, the Most Exalted, has engulfed him with throughout all his life stages. As such, in his youth, he pbuh was characterised with diligence, determination and vigour, exerting sincere endeavour to earn his living. Moreover, he has also embraced the best, most noble and most perfect of manners. Allah the Almighty has praised his ethics, for He says, and indeed, you are of a great moral character. (Al-Qalam: 4). Amongst the qualities of the Prophet pbuh was his generosity, for he was the most generous amongst people. Indeed, the Prophet pbuh was the best in all aspects of his character, be it honesty, trustworthiness, leniency or kindness. Therefore, he earned the trust and affection of all his companions. Emphasising such merits, one of the people described him saying, I have not seen anybody like him, neither before nor after him. Knowing about such noble qualities of the Prophet pbuh, Sayida Khadija Bint Khuwailed, may Allah be pleased with her, who was known to be a wise and firm woman, sent to him requesting him to 3

manage her caravans on the trade routes to Syria. After that, she asked him to marry her, and he pbuh did so. More to this, amongst the other favours that Allah the Most Exalted has bestowed on our Master Muhammad pbuh is wisdom and sound opinion as well as precise knowledge. Thus, whenever people resorted to him seeking his opinion about their matters, he would give them the best and most accurate opinion. He was also known for his fairness in judging amongst the people. In addition to such noble qualities, Allah, the Most Perfect, has blessed the Prophet pbuh with a fine appearance and a perfect of stature. O Keen Pursuers of the life story of the Prophet pbuh, It is also good to know that when the Messenger of Allah pbuh reached the age of forty, he received the Divine Inspiration. The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah s Messenger pbuh was in the form of good dreams which always came true like bright daylight, i.e. came true the same way as he saw them while asleep. Then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him. He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously until the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave. The angel came to him and asked him to read, saying, recite. (Al-Alaq: 1). This word was the first revelation to him from the holy Quran. Thereafter, he pbuh laid the foundations to a great civilisation that appreciated knowledge and called for seeking it in order to achieve higher position and prosperity where mankind could rise on the path of knowledge, obedience and performance of acts of kindness. After receiving the Divine Inspiration, the Prophet pbuh stayed in Mecca for three years, inviting people to the way of Allah the Almighty with wisdom and good instruction. After that, he migrated to Medina where he settled and established a harmonious and strongly bonded community that was illuminated by the Prophetic guidance to good ethics and noble values. Seeing the mercy and tolerance that the Messenger of Allah has shown in Medina and the 4

security and stability that he has cemented there, the people entered into the religion of Allah in multitudes. Bearing this in mind, we seek Allah s favour to guide us all to obey Him and obey His Messenger Muhammad pbuh and obey those He have commanded us to obey in line with His orders: O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. (An-Nisaa: 59). May Allah direct us all to the blessings of the Glorious Quran and the Sunna of His Messenger pbuh. I say this and ask Allah for forgiveness for me and you, so invoke Him for forgiveness, for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. Second Sermon All praise is due to Allah for sending us our Master Muhammad as a guide, a bringer of good tidings and a warner. He sent him as one who invites to Allah, by His permission, and an illuminating lamp. I bear witness that there is no deity save Allah, having no associates. I also bear witness that our Master Muhammad is the Servant of Allah and His Messenger. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Master Muhammad, his pure family, companions, and all those who follow them in righteousness till the Day of Judgment. I urge you, O Servants of Allah, and myself to be aware that you are asked to obey Him, the Most High and Exalted. O Worshipers, Please be aware that our Prophet Muhammad pbuh has been sent with a message to the entire humanity. Allah the Almighty has accentuated this for He says, say, [O Muhammad], O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all. (Al-Aaraf: 158). The Messenger of Allah pbuh was further sent as a mercy to the whole world as illustrated in this Aya: and We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds. (Al-Anbiyaa: 107). So, he pbuh brought us with him a wealth of great good things. He taught us to worship our Lord and informed us about the rights of 5

Allah the Almighty on us. He also called for the best of manners as he said, I have only been sent to perfect good character. More to the point, amongst the great qualities that our Master Muhammad pbuh has urged Muslims to embrace is dutifulness to one s parents, harmony and affection between spouses, taking good care of one s children, maintaining ties of kinship, being hospital with friends and doing good to one s neighbours. It is such a beautiful thing, therefore, to read the life story of the Prophet pbuh, teach it to our children and draw lessons from its precious values and benefits. This way, our love to the Messenger of Allah pbuh will increase in our hearts and we will follow his guidance. Indeed, he pbuh has set the best example for us to emulate. Allah, the Most Exalted, says, there has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often. (Al-Ahzab: 21). We should also invoke Allah s peace and blessings upon the Prophet pbuh in line with the commandments of Allah the Almighty: indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace. (Al-Ahzab: 56). On the same matter, the Prophet pbuh said, For everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah. O Allah, please confer Your blessings and grant peace upon our Prophet Muhammad pbuh, his family and all of the companions. May Allah be pleased with the Rightly Guided Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, and all of the noble Companions. O Allah, we seek Your grace to place the love of our Prophet Muhammad pbuh in our hearts and grant us success to follow his guidance. O Lord of the Worlds, please also honour us with his company in Paradise. O Allah, we implore to You to continue blessing us with Your bounties, endow upon us Your favours and make us rejoice peace of 6

mind and wellbeing. O Allah, please accept our good deeds and accept our prayers. O Lord, may we also ask You to rewards us in multiples for our good acts, forgive us our past and future misdeeds and honour us with happiness in this world and in the Hereafter. O Lord, please make us amongst those who are dutiful to their parents and kind to their kith and kin. May Allah grant success to the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and guide him to all that is good. O Allah, we also seek Your favour to grant him continued health and care. May Allah also ensure success to his Vice-President, trustworthy Crown Prince and his brothers, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates. O Allah, please forgive all of the Muslims, men and women, living and dead. We pray to Allah to show mercy on late Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Maktoum and the late UAE Sheikhs. O Lord, grant them abundant mercy and bless them with Your kindness and satisfaction. O Lord, forgive and show mercy on our parents, relatives and whoever has done a favour to us. O Allah, may we ask You to guide us to all that may help us attain Your mercy and forgiveness and grant us rewards for our good deeds. O Allah, we implore to You to protect us from every major sin and grant us the reward of every good deed. O Allah, we seek Your grace to make us amongst those who will win Your Paradise and save us from the Hellfire. O Allah, we implore You at this instance not to let a sin un-forgiven, a distress unrelieved, a debt unpaid, an illness unhealed, a dead without mercy or a need unsatisfied, for You are the Most Generous and over all things Competent. Indeed, You are over all things Competent and to prayers ever responding. We pray to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, to continue blessing the UAE with stability and welfare and increase it in bounties, knowledge, civilisation, happiness, beauty and tolerance. O Allah, please continue blessing it with happiness and security. 7

May Allah have mercy on the honourable martyrs of our nation and gather them with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favour of the prophets. May Allah make the dwelling of the martyrs, their families, parents and relatives with the righteous. Indeed, You are ever responding to the supplications. O Allah, please grant the best reward for the families of the martyrs and offer them patience and solace. May Allah grant victory to the soldiers of the Arab Coalition who gathered to restore the rights to their owners. O Lord, please be by their side and guide the Yemeni people to everything that is good. O Allah, make them rally for the word of truth and legitimacy, and bless them with welfare and stability, O the Most Generous. O Lord, we beseech You to bless all of the Muslim countries and the whole world with stability and peace. Our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire. O Allah, admit us to Your Paradise with the righteous. Indeed, You are Exalted in Might and Forgiving. O Allah, we seek Your favour to send us wealthy rain and make us not amongst those who are despondent. O Allah, relieve us! O Allah, relieve us! O Allah, relieve us with a wealthy, healthy and sufficient rain! O Allah, give us from the blessings of the sky and grow for us from the blessings of the earth. Remember Allah and He will remember you. Be grateful of His benevolence and He will increase His blessings to you. Please stand up for prayer. 8
