Billy s Blog Last Thursday we were privileged to have Wayne Sullivan give us a guided tour of the outstanding new facility created for aged care at Granite Hills. I m sure all were impressed with its light, bright and open planned areas. Think I saw a few taking special notes too. As a club, we have contributed substantially to this facility and it is something I am sure all members will be proud of when one of the wings is named after the Euroa Rotary Club. Special thanks this week to Ken McLennan for his organisation of a great day that was thoroughly enjoyed by all who made the trip to Nagambie for the river cruise to Tabilk and Mitchelton. It was a very relaxing afternoon enjoying each other s company and the peaceful serenity of the river not to say the wines that were tasted and the goodies that were enjoyed from the Chocolate Café were all that bad either. Don t forget that this week s meeting is at the Flour Mill for the combined dinner with Apex and Lions. 6.30 for a 7pm start. Please let Noel know by Monday if you are going. See you all then. Do you have a Rotary Hi Vis vest at home? We originally had 20: we only have 13 on hand. It would be appreciated if you would bring in any Rotary Hi Vis vests you may have at home are brought in. Thank you!
Treasurer Neville reports on Ride the Ranges last weekend Criterium 111 riders of talent and repute were attracted for the Criterium. This number is double that of last year. All spoke highly of the organization and quality of the event. Generous sponsorships of $6000 for prize money were provided by RBA Financial Group (Richard Byrnes) and High Street Cycles (Malcolm Hill). Strathbogie Shire provided $1500 for traffic management. As previously indicated by Neil, large profits were not expected from the Criterium this year, but we will be in the black, and the event is building nicely. Ride The Ranges Over 200 riders took part in the three rides. Sponsorship for the rides was generously provided by DPR Insurance Brokers (Dennis Rebbeck). Numbers were down in the short ride, but were compensated for by the increases in the medium and long rides, for which the entry fee is higher. Again, all riders spoke highly of the event, and the atmosphere at the park after the ride was great. Thank you and well done to all those who helped, especially, of course, Neil and Kerrie, without whom the rides would not take place. Their work load is intense and is over an extended period of time. A big thank you also to Mathew Maher, son of our member Gerard Maher and Rosalind, who, through his compony Miepol, donated his time and equipment for traffic management and signage as well as the pre ride traffic management paperwork. All accounts are not yet in, but we anticipate the profit for the weekend to exceed $10 000. Thank heavens the weather was excellent, and the bleak day we had later in the week did not occur earlier.
