St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club Celebrating 50 years of Snowmobiling! Volume 2018-19 Number 6 President s Message Tom Nampel I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you had me to enjoy your family and friends. Now that we are into the snowmobile season just a few reminders. Stay on the marked trails, obey the signs, ride safely and have your trail pass. Lets make this the safest season yet. We have a couple of events coming up that we need volunteers for. The first one is the Radar Run on February 1st and 2nd. We need people for the food tent, and crowd control. It takes a lot of people to make this a success so please volunteer. The other event is the Arrowhead Groomer Show on February 6th and 7th. We need help for the food service. Remember to support our sponsors listed on our trail maps. Drive safe and I hope to see you on the trails. Trail Boss Jim Wendt As mid December unfolds, the outlook is bleak for a plen ful early snow season. We have white ground but with the temps teetering between the high 30 s to mid 40 s we are losing snow fast. I pray we get a rapid turnaround to ensure a joyous Christmas season. Keep the reason for the season in your thoughts and make the best of the me we are given...even if we are late star ng the season. Your grooming staff has been working hard to sharpen our skills on the trails. We have been carefully training our new drivers with the skills necessary to provide the quality trails we have been so famous for. The men entrusted with the task of making the best trails in the north this season are: Crew Chief Jeremy Rappa, Bryan Gi er, Steve Merlo, Crew Chief Jay Pritzel, Joe Coda, John Gemini, Crew Chief Steve Hausner, Tom Erdes, Jeff Blonski, Crew Chief Shaun Savel, Ma Verseman, Tim Schwulst, Crew Chief Jim Wendt, Joe Tegland, and Bryan Edwards. I have all the confidence in these men that our expecta on of great trail work will be exceeded. A er many a empts to provide the staff with club driver jackets, we were finally able to find some donors that made my dream come true. The jackets sport the large Bo Boen logo on the back with either Tucker or New Holland logos on the chest along with individual names of drivers using the respec ve equipment for their assigned run. I am sooo proud to recognize this staff of drivers with something that will recognize them out in the community as a valued provider of our Bo Boen trails. A big thank you to our donors and a special thank you to the Richter family, owners of Thunderbird Bar for taking the lead on this project! Your trails are ready, your equipment is ready, and your drivers are anxious to start working...all we need is snow and cold temps. It WILL come! I wish you and yours a joyous holiday season and thank you for your support of me and my staff as we work to keep the Bo Boens the number one club in the state! Happy Trails, Jim Secretary s Report Kay Schultz On your mark get set SNOW! The trails have been inspected and are ready to go except for one thing we need snow and cold. There are a lot of bare spots on the trails and I can see the slush under the snow on our lake. On Tuesday, December 11 th, we had our annual Christmas party at Whitetail. With 115 members in a endance, it was an evening filled with singing, raffles, dinner music, great food and Christmas cheer. A hear elt thanks to Jeff Calhoun for once again providing our music and Jeff & Joy and their staff for the beau fully decorated surroundings and the wonderful food. Well get dancing your snow dance, sing your snow songs or say your snow prayers so the season can start soon. Looking forward to seeing everyone here soon. Happy Holidays, Kay Schultz WHERE DOES THIS GREAT NEWSLETTER COME FROM? By Peggy Ausloos The Bo Boen newsle er is published monthly from August to April and offers a great deal of informa on to our 1,100+ members. Pam Gebhardt is the newsle er publisher. She has the task of ge ng people to turn in their ar cles on me and in a good format, arranging the ar cles and photographs to make it all fit, and some mes finding some things to fill in the empty spaces. This is not an easy assignment but she does it month a er month with no complaints. Kay Schultz and Dianne Dieter help get the mailed versions out to the members that do not receive it via email. So the next me you see Pam or receive your newsle er and enjoy reading it please let her know just how much her efforts are appreciated!
