Resurrection Lutheran Church Resurrection Lutheran Church s Mission: Sharing the Love of God God s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that God loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. John 4: 9-11 In Flux The congregation recently received information about the possibility of improving our current sound system and including projection capabilities into the facility. Currently, the process to discuss this proposal from the Council is scheduled for Sunday, June 11, 18 and 25. In the meantime, there has also been some development in the search for a new facility for our congregation. (The current facility sits on land that is for sale and when this land sells, our current building will be torn down. We currently rent this building from the Diocese of Joliet). The Facility Search Team is scheduled to meet with friends from the Minooka United Methodist Church on June 7 to explore the possibility of purchasing their facility. At this point all we can say is that both congregations building teams and boards are interested in further exploring the possibility of RLC purchasing the MUMC building. MUMC is planning to construct a new facility in 2018 and our current lease runs through 2018. As more information becomes available, we will communicate it with you. Resurrection has also submitted paperwork to the Mission Investment Fund (MIF), which is our Resurrection Lutheran Church Core Values June 2017 Worship: Gather around Word and Sacrament to receive the good news of God s grace and to respond in daily discipleship. Discipleship: Grow in faith, love, and obedience to the will of God through prayer, study, fellowship, worship, stewardship, service, and justice. Outreach: Invite and welcome our neighbors to experience the love of God here at Resurrection and within the Church universal.
P AGE 2 denomination s bank. (www.mif.elca.org). The MIF exists to help congregations purchase buildings, renovate buildings, refinance debt, etc. We have submitted for a Loan Prequalification, which will give us a much better understanding of what the MIF would approve for the amount and terms of our mortgage. If the possibility of purchasing the MUMC building seems to become more of a reality, then it also seems possible that this potential development will effect our conversation about the sound system and projection. We will also share these developments with you as soon as more information becomes available. Please keep all of this in your prayer. There are many moving parts. As your pastor and also on behalf of the Congregation Council and Facility Search Team, we will do our best to communicate all these moving parts and any and all developments. At the very least, we will be able to provide an update after the June 7 meeting. Thank you for your patience, your input and understanding, and for your participation in the life of Resurrection! God has good things in store for RLC! Council Meeting The congregation council meeting is Tuesday, June 13 at 6 PM at New Life in Bolingbrook.. Facility Search Update The Facility Search Team is continuing its work of identifying Resurrection s future church facility. The Search Team will be meeting with several members of the Minooka United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 7, to explore the possibility of purchasing their building (MUMC plans to build a new building in 2018). Synod Assembly The annual meeting of the Northern Illinois Synod (the region of our denomination, the ELCA, that Resurrection is in) is Friday, June 16 through Saturday, June 17.
