William was born October 4, 1952, in Florence, South Carolina, to Willie Lee and Sally Miriam (Williams) Cox. He married Georgia F. Wright on August 25, 1979 in Georgetown, South Carolina. William was a shop foreman with MHC-Kenworth and proudly served in the United States Army. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Georgia; daughters, Danna Amaya and her husband, Ricardo of Blue Ridge, Texas and Shannon L. Alcorn and husband, Paul Welch of McKinney; sisters, Janice C. Woodruff of Charlotte, North Carolina and Jeanine C. Zurcher of Georgetown, South Carolina; grandson, Joseph P. Amaya; granddaughter, Victoria E. Amaya; adopted daughter, Meridith Benton of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee Cox; mother, Sally Miriam Williams Cox; brother, Phillip Wayne Cox. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 11, 2007, at Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas with Reverend Woody Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday evening beginning at 6:00 PM.
