PHONE: (972) 562-2601 John Joseph Rix November 13, 1944 - October 2, 2011 John Joseph Rix, age 66, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on October 2, 2011. He was born November 13, 1944, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Charles Judson and Mary Ann (Dederichs) Rix. He attended Kellogg University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On December 11, 1976, John married Jill Cantrell in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Jill Cantrell Rix of McKinney, Texas; mother, Mary Ann Rix of Allen, Texas; brother, Chris Rix; sisters, Char Crane, Henri Wood, and Tammy Gaumer; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives. John is preceded in death by his father, Charles Rix. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 4:00 p.m., at Pecan Grove Cemetery, in McKinney, Texas. Memorials Jill, I remember the day you met John as if it were yesterday. I had known John previously and thought what a great guy he is. Always pleasant, happy, funny, willing to do anything for anyone. Wish I could take the credit for introducing you two (well, I did but...john knew immediately what a great catch you would be) so I have to say you did it on your own. I was just lucky enough to be with you and he showed up. I saw John one time at Collin Creek Mall...he was checking up on something you had made and was on sale there. The expression on his face I will never forget.he had the look of a very proud

husband. You were very special to him as you are to Penny and me. I just heard about this and regret that I wasn't there for you sooner. Bless you and know that you are in my prayers. SALLY WYSONG RUSCHHAUPT, OCTOBER 18, 2011 I met John a few years ago and knew right away that he was a good match for you. I know that the loss of him is trememdous. Please know that you are in my prayers. I pray that you know that God is near. Remember this promise from Isaiah 58:9..."Then you will call and the Lord will answer; You will cry and he will say, Here I am." Hold onto Him and He will hold you up. SUE MONROE FORD, OCTOBER 17, 2011 Jill, I did not know John well but knew before I met him that if you chose him he must be a good man and when I met him I saw that it was true. I know that you will miss him and pray that your faith will remain strong because God promises us like he did the exiles in captivity that "he has a plan for us. It is not to harm us but to give us hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 I pray you are hanging onto our Savior and looking to the future with expectation because he has something wonderful for you. That promise is for you today and forever. May God richly bless you this day. SUE MONROE FORD, OCTOBER 16, 2011 Jill, I was so sorry to hear about John. If you need a friend to listen or a shoulder to cry on, I'm here for you. I know that God is watching over you. DEBBIE SPEARS, OCTOBER 16, 2011 My Dear Brother John, I am so grateful for the memories I have of you! You were always there for me when I needed you. You were a wonderful brother, brother in law and uncle to my children. The past 16 months made me realize just how precious time is, I am so grateful that God gave us that time together. I will keep you in my heart forever John. Thank you for wonderful memories and bringing Jill into my life! I love you, TAMMY LEA GAUMER, OCTOBER 5, 2011 Jill, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband. I know how difficult this time is for you. I pray for peace and comfort for you in the days, weeks and

months ahead. EVITA HOLDER PATTON, OCTOBER 5, 2011 John - I will miss you very much. I have great memories of you going all the way back to the vacation at Crooked lake Mich in the 60's. I will always treasure the fishing tackle you gave me from our Grandfather Rix. It is proudly displayed at our home. Jill, our prayers are with you. Hope to see you again soon. Cousin Dave and family DAVE HALL, OCTOBER 5, 2011 Jill, I am so sorry for your loss. I am thinking of you. Love, MAXINE EMERSON, OCTOBER 4, 2011 I will always remember the time we spent fishing and more recently your teachings about hunting. Uncle John, you are the one that really afforded me the opportunity to begin those lifelong past times and for that I will always be thankful. I have your old duck call hanging in my truck; I think about you and the lessons you gave me often. I appreciate all the time we spent together. Thank you for being such a big part of my life. Love you Uncle John NICK GAUMER, OCTOBER 4, 2011 Just learned yesterday that John had passed away while we were gone. He fought so hard. We will miss him here in the neighborhood. NEAL PAULA ATOR, OCTOBER 4, 2011 One of my fondest memories of Uncle John, was when they still lived in Dallas. I was eating tootsie rolls in the kitchen, and then ran outside leaving the bag exposed on the counter. I came back in to find their beloved dog eating the entire bag, wrappers and all. I felt so bad but Uncle John told me not to worry, laughed, and hugged me. Uncle John will always be in my heart as such a kind, soothing, gentle person. I will forever remember him through the love he gave me and mementos such as the beautiful Noah's arc he carved and the swan that is in our front hallway. I love you Uncle John and know you are watching over us. TESSA WOOD, OCTOBER 4, 2011 Jill, We just wanted to say how sorry we are to hear about the loss of your

husband. Our thoughts & prayers are with you & your family as you go through this very difficult time. May you find comfort in friends, family & God. God Bless! I will always cherish the time we spent together. I always can remember the turkeys that you would make for Thanksgiving or Christmas. You always made the best! I am going to miss seeing all the new pieces of wood that you would carve; you had such an amazing talent that everyone loved! I know that you are in your happy place now fishing and hunting and doing everything else that you loved to do! I miss you and love you! AMANDA LEA GAUMER, OCTOBER 3, 2011 My favorite memory of my Uncle John was Veteran's Day at my elementary school in 2004. My Uncle John, who served in the Vietnam war, was my special guest that day. I will never forget that he walked in the parade with me, smiling the whole time. I loved that day. JULIA ELIZABETH GAUMER, OCTOBER 3, 2011 Uncle John, I love you and I want you know how much I wish we would have been able to spend more time together hunting and fishing and being outdoors. I remember all the times with you, carving birds and the different rooms at your home with all sorts of new projects. I always looked forward to our times there and with the dogs, your beagles.
