Watch for opportunities to plan our 100th anniversary celebration and plan our mission into our next century. Happy January! The month of January is named after the Roman god Janus, the god of the doorway. Janus is usually depicted in art with two faces: one looking backwards and one looking forwards. I ve always considered his 2 faces a good summary of what January means for me, since as I begin the new year, I can t help but also reflect on the year that has passed. What did 2018 mean for us? What were the highs and lows? Which moments stand out, and what memories were made? We might have experienced birth and growth in our families, or we might have endured loss and grief. We might have negotiated the waves of change related to work, retirement, volunteer opportunities, school, or health challenges. Looking back is important. As we reflect on where we have been in 2018, I hope we see strength and understanding gained through each and every up and down. We have been blessed with courage when we were afraid, healing when we felt broken, love when we felt alone. Each of us has grown and learned in a way that can help us move forward. What do we hope for in 2019? Perhaps we look for new life to arrive in our families, or new opportunities at work or in the community. Perhaps we simply wait for signs that the seasons are changing and the earth will spring back once again. People of Redeemer, I hope this opportunity of a new year allows us as a church to both look back and look to the future. We have much to celebrate in this 95 th year of ministry in Vineland! Looking at our history, we see how God has been faithful to us. We have been blessed through building programs, pastoral changes, ministries that have served the community, and members who have shared their time and talents with the congregation beyond measure. Surely we can see how God has been at work through the people called to serve in this place. Knowing where we have been can only propel us forward in mission. I hope you will join us at the Annual meeting on January 27 th as we reflect on our year of ministry and anticipate how God is calling us to serve in the gift of a new year! In Christ, Pastor Heather

If it was not for your help and generous hearts we would not be where we are today. Whether you helped outside, inside, large or small it is these things that make a HUGE impact on the way Redeemer moves forward and is able to grow. We would like to thank all volunteers that also help in the office weekly and monthly. We look forward to your smiling faces and generous hearts in 2019. Happy New year, Love Lisa and Michelle. Have you heard the name Thrivent Community at Redeemer around church? They are a group of Redeemer members who have been organizing activities and reaching into the community for more than five years. These social ministry projects include organizing collection of food items and clothing; assisting other community groups with supplies, food and personnel; and assisting with projects and activities at Redeemer. You do not have to be a Thrivent member to be part of this group. You just have to want to help your fellow parishioners, the people in the greater Vineland area and those in need around the world. Say yes, I would like to help. Become part of an Action Team! Watch for our next activity whether it be packing items for a group in need or participating in a community event. You too can design your own project and we will join in and guide you! Talk with Arlene Cherwien for more details.
