Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE Christmas. I love every aspect of Christmas, lights, music, decorations, and especially celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior. I hope and pray that this holiday season you allow the peace that only our Savior can give to fall over you. Life will often throw us curve balls, and for many the holidays are not happy and joyous, but are stressful and sad. Grieving loss and missing loved ones seem even harder during the holidays. That is why it becomes even more essential during the busy days ahead to carve out time to spend with our Lord and Savior. Although the lights and music and decorations are fun and enchanting, He longs to hear from us during those busy and hectic days. Just as we long to hear from loved ones that are far away or not close to us anymore, Jesus longs for our time. So I urge you to carve out time each day to tell Him you love Him and that you are grateful for the blessing of what you do have. Each day take time to literally count your blessings. Take time to write down on paper how he has answered so many prayers. These are for you and Him, not to share with the world on social media, but to truly spend time in gratitude for all that He has given you, especially the birth of Jesus that we celebrate this season. He sent His only son so that He will carry the burden of our sin. Luke s account of this season is beautiful. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. Luke 2: 9-14 As the year comes to an end, I will be rotating off of the board. It has been an honor to serve as the Community Lay Director for Eastern Shore Emmaus. I am grateful for this opportunity. Merry Christmas and DeColores! Andrea Lambie Community Lay Director
Page 2 A Message From Our Spiritual Director There s a story told about two children who went to a department store with their Grandfather at Christmas. Grandpa told the kids that since it was Christmas he wanted each of them to go through the store and find a gift that represented what Jesus meant to them and he would do the same. The first child wandered through many of the aisles until he came upon a large globe. His face lit up and he ran to find his grandpa. The second child searched longer, but finally came upon a picture. Smiling, he dashed through the store looking for his Grandpa. After a short while the two boys bumped into each other, but neither of them could find Grandpa. After about a half an hour in the crowded store they found Grandpa sitting in a chair by a counter at the rear of the store. The first boy said Look Grandpa, I found a globe, because Jesus has the whole world in his hands. The second boy said Look Grandpa, I found this picture of a lamb, because Jesus is the lamb of God. The two boys asked their Grandpa what he had found. Smiling Grandpa said Did you boys have a hard time finding me? The boys nodded their heads. Were you glad when you found me? They nodded their heads. That s what I found for Jesus. He pointed his finger to a sign above his head that read Lost and Found. Grandpa said I was once lost but Jesus found me and I ve been happy every since. What gift will you find that represents what Jesus means to you? Let us remember during this advent season that God so loved humankind so much that He sent His one and only Son into this world to redeem us. His promise is to all who believe that HE is my Son and all who invest their lives in Him will have a right to eternal life. This Is The Greatest Gift Of All. Let me thank each of you for your prays, cards and calls. The healing process is rather slow. I am scheduled to wear my brace for the next (12) weeks. But nevertheless, I m believing God for my healing. Love of Christ, Dave Hackett

Page 4 Prayer Chain Brothers And Sisters In Christ, As 2018 comes to a close and we reflect on the year, I m sure each of us does so with a mixture of joy and sadness. Joy for the blessings that we have all been given, but also sadness for the pain of any losses or hardships that we have endured. As we think about all of this, there is reassurance no matter what emotion we feel. Reassurance because we realize that at no moment over the past year has God left our side. At every moment He has been there for us, whether it be rejoicing in our triumphs, guiding our uncertainty, or comforting us in loss. He has been there for every step that we ve taken and every circumstance we ve faced. So, in the reminder of God s constant and presence and unending grace, the prayer is simple God, thank you for just being who you are and thank you for loving me. With those thoughts and that simple prayer in mind, I d like to invite each of you to join the Emmaus Prayer Team. Page 6 ES 109 Ephesians 2:10 I CREATED YOU ES #109 It was an honor and a privilege to serve our Great God as Lay Director on this Emmaus Walk. This was the Best Walk Ever! Was it a perfect Walk, No. I know how word of mouth travels here on the Shore. No matter the rumors, it was the best walk ever. It is correct it wasn t perfect, why because human beings were part of God s Walk. But believe me our Great God was in charge. He was with each one of us all weekend. Even with a few difficulties our God is greater than anything or anybody here on this earth or this Emmaus Community. The Team that He chose to take on this ES109 was the Absolute Best Team Ever, in The WORLD!! His Team stepped up for the Pilgrims, this Team shone Jesus face all weekend. It didn t matter what was going on, it was all about the Pilgrims and what was happening in that Talk Room. There are all kinds of things that we may believe won t affect the people around us, a human error. We may believe no one will notice when we fall, well when we spend 7 weeks bonding and building a relationship with each other we develop a sense of one another. We love and care about one another, we know when something isn t right. Jesus teaches us to love and help one another and I know we did our jobs God sent us to do, because the Pilgrims had the Best Walk Ever! Through it all God provided the BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD. Special Thank you to God, and Team 109, you are the BEST TEAM EVER!! Wanda Ward, Lay Director ES 109
