CHRISTMAS EVE December 24, 2018 4:00 ORGAN PRELUDE Christmas is Here Dale Wood *OPENING HYMN AND PROCESSION O Come, All Ye Faithful Pg. 234 *CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: We are a people who have walked in deep darkness. People: We come this night, seeking to be a people who have seen a great light. Leader: Light comes to us on this holiest of nights. People: The light of a small babe, the light of a bright star. Leader: The light of God s love. People: Shining for all the earth. All: Come and see the child has been born! Lights are shining! LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE Leader: With this lighting of the Christ Candle we rejoice with prophets, angels, and Mary and Joseph in welcoming Christ! People: Our hope has arrived. Leader: Thank you God, for sending us your Son. People: May this light remind us of the hope we all carry because you love the whole world! *OPENING PRAYER All: Holy God, we pray for your brightness to shine upon our hearts this evening. May we know your grace as it appears

for us in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Help us to live lives that are joyous and just, godly and righteous. As we await the blessed hope of your glory to shine on our world forever, we come this night to rejoice in the blessed hope of your glory that already shines in our lives. Shine on us, dear Child, that we may see you not only in the manger but in our hearts as well! Amen. SOLO Mary Had a Baby Arr. Larson Linda Preisendorfer, Soprano OFFERTORY PRAYER All: Holy God, as we gather this evening, all our attention is focused on a baby, lying in a makeshift bed in an it-willhave-to-do stable. It s not lost on us that you sent your Son, our Savior, into the world among the poorest of the poor and told us: This will be a sign to you. As we present gifts to you, we pray that they might reach those in the greatest need, that they might lift those in the deepest despair, and that they might bring peace and compassion to those who find themselves amidst conflict. We pray this in the name of that Holy Child, Jesus the Christ, our Savior and Redeemer! Amen.
