Knowing the Score Choir Boosters November 2014 Director s Note Dear Choir Families, Mrs. Kramer We have a lot of exciting news in our department, and we owe a lot of our success to your hard work and support as parents, committee members, and friends of the program. Through coffee sales and donations students earned approximately $9,500 for their program. Girls Chorus and Concert Choir had 100% sales participation, earning them a sundae bar and breakfast bar party in class. Chamber choir parents are working hard building a float for Chamber Choir s performance in the Parade of Lights on Friday, November 28 at 7pm. The float already looks marvelous in its early stages. Thank you chamber choir parents for your hard work. O Gorman High school and Jr. High Choral Departments had five students accepted into the 2015 South Dakota Junior Honor Choirs, Daivd Berman (OGHS), Joy Dahle (OGHS), Teresa Kayser (OGHS), Adam Catangui (OGJH), and Ethan Dingman (OGJH). OG is the host site for this performance on January 24, 2015 at 3:00pm in the Lorang Theatre. Admission is $5. Both choral departments also have been honored by having three students accepted into the NATIONAL ACDA Honor Choirs as well, Alyse Brown (OGHS), Chris Schall (OGHS), and Adam Catangui (OGJH). They will perform in Salt Lake City, UT on February 28. 3,300 students auditioned for this event! We thank our voice teachers who have helped audition these students, especially Donna Hey and Mr. John Parezo. Calendar reminders: Concert Choir Capers auditions are December 1, 3:45-7:00pm in the choir room. All concert choir students support their peers by attending the auditions as a mandatory attendance for a grade. Ticket order forms will be sent home next week with students. Capers Dinner and Variety Show is Monday, February 2 at 6:00pm. Please be on the lookout for ticket information. Christmas Vespers 2014 O Holy Night is December 8, 7pm in the Lorang Theatre. In lieu of admission, a free will offering will be taken. The entire OGHS choral department will be featured as well as our Christmas Brass ensemble under Mr. Koch s baton. Getting to meet many of you parents at conferences was rewarding for me to connect with you outside of the classroom. I look forward to continuing to meeting more of you as I serve this wonderful choral department. Please remember you are all welcome to our monthly Parent Booster meetings, the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the choir room.

CONCERT CHOIR PARENTS The annual Concert Choir fundraiser, Capers, is scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2015. The production will be held in the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Doors open at 5:00 PM and dinner is served at 6:00 PM with pre-show entertainment. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children 10 and under. Concert Choir students will be given TABLE pre-sale forms during class on Monday, November 17th. They will then have until November 26th to submit their forms to ensure priority seating. However, your seating at the event is based upon when your son or daughter returns their form with payment. Therefore, students who turn in the form on November 19th will have a table closer to the stage than students who turn in the form on the 26th. Parent volunteers will be accepting neatly-completed forms with payment at the O Gorman Box Office windows from 7:15 AM - 7:55AM and 3:20 PM - 3:45 PM on the following days: Wednesday, November 19th Friday, November 21st Monday, November 24th Wednesday, November 26th (7:15 AM- 7:55AM and 12:00-12:30 due to early dismissal) Only forms with at least one full table (8-10 people) and complete payment (no cash please) will be accepted on the above dates. Forms will be accepted ONLY at the above times and at the box office windows. Mrs. Kramer will not accept any forms during class. Checks should be made payable to: SFCS - Capers. Please contact Shelly Kosiak if you do not think you can fill a table and she will make every effort to help you find another family to combine your ticket sales so you can have access to the table pre-sale opportunity. If students are not able to submit their forms during the above time, parents or a trusted friend may submit the form for him/her. After November 26th, all additional tickets will need to be purchased online at capers2015.eventbrite.com Online general public sales begin on Monday, December 1st.
