We gather to anticipate the joy of God's coming--at Bethlehem, in our hearts and at the end of days. Large print bulletins are available and children s bulletins are available on the table in the Narthex. A nursery is available for infants up to 5 years of age.

Those who are able are invited to stand. PRELUDE And the Glory of the Lord LIFE OF THE CONGREGATION Moment of silence to prepare your hearts for worship G. F. Handel SONG OF DEVOTION (hymnal & screen) (please remain seated) #243 Emmanuel LET US WORSHIP GOD TOGETHER CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 147:1, 3, 5-6) Leader: Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him! People: He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Leader: Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit. People: The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. INVOCATION Leader: Almighty God, You came to us in humility and ask us to come to You in the same way. Grant us the humility to offer ourselves to You in worship today. Do not let the enemy or the pride that he encourages block us from Your loving presence. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. SONG OF PRAISE (hymnal & screen) Take My Life (Holiness) #622 Humble Thyself in the Sight of the Lord CALL TO CONFESSION (James 4:7-10) Leader: Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. Let us humbly seek the cleansing grace of our Lord Jesus Christ through the confession of our sin in silent prayer. Let us pray. SILENT PRAYER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Unison: Almighty God, we confess that our pride is an obstacle to our faith. We think we can handle the twists and turns of this life, but we cannot. We need Your help to set aside our pride and ask You for Your help. In Jesus name we pray. Amen ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Chronicles 7:14) Leader: God Promises, If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Sisters and brothers in Christ believe the good news: you are forgiven.
