It could have been planned for a warm, sunny day, but instead He chose one of the darkest days of the year. Could it be that He was trying to tell us that Jesus light shines even in the darkest of places. His light would bring hope, joy, and love to all people, no matter who they were or where they lived. As followers of Jesus, you also brought hope, joy, and love to people when you contributed to our St. Vincent fund drive last month. We collected over $1,600 to help bring light to those who live in the darkness of poverty. Thank you, and May your Christmas and all the days that follow be filled with the Light that Jesus gives us each day. Alleluia, Alleluia! Thank You & God Bless You! ~ Paul Novotny

Thank You For Your Generosity! Pope Francis December Intention: In the Service of the Transmission of Faith That people, who are involved in the service and transmission of faith, may find, in their dialogue with culture, a language suited to the conditions of the present time. Frequently Asked Advent Questions What are the Three Arrivals of Christ? Jesus Comes in Human History: Our celebration of Christmas focuses on the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. He was born as the Son of God, Son of Mary, and as our Savior and Redeemer. Jesus Comes into Our Hearts: Advent and Christmas renew our desire for Jesus daily coming; most clearly perceived in His presence in the Most Holy Eucharist. Jesus Comes in Glory: Advent reminds us of our longing for the Lord s return at the end of time. This season gives special meaning to the phrase from the Lord s Prayer, Thy Kingdom Come. 2018 Financial Contributions Reminder To have contributions recognized in 2018, they must be dated 2018, and delivered to the Parish Office during office hours in 2018 Or dropped into the collection basket in church no later than the 12:30pm Mass on Sunday December 30th, 2018 OR, if mailed; dated & postmarked by December 31st, 2018. REMEMBER: COFFEE & DONUTS THIS SUNDAY AFTER THE 10:00am MASS! People look east, the time is near... As we enter into the home stretch of this Advent season of preparation, we hear of Mary's visit to her cousin Elizabeth. Their visit is filled with joy, expressed wonderfully by Elizabeth's baby (John the Baptist) leaping in her womb at the sound of Mary's voice. May these last hours before Christmas fill us with Joy, as we prepare to welcome Christ into our hearts once again. GOD'S WORD IS ALIVE: God's ways are not our ways. Today's readings point to the unlikely context for the blessed event we are about to celebrate. Christ will be born in Bethlehem, a town unnoticed and forgotten. The Son of God will be born to Mary, a seemingly insignificant teenage girl. John the Baptist will be born of Elizabeth, a woman supposedly past childbearing age. As we listen to the Word of God, we are reminded of God's tendency to do the unexpected. Question of The Week: Do I, like Elizabeth and her baby, realize that I am in the presence of the Lord? Do I react with Joy?
