As a result attendance for the month of November was at 82%. He congratulated us for being number one in the district for contributions to the Rotary Foundation. Mike also advised that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated one hundred million dollars to the Rotary Foundation for the eradication of polio. This donation has been matched with Paul Harris Fellowship Directors Mary Lou Hansen Bob Arthur Doug Fleming Richard Kowalchuk Terry Partis Dave Panabaker Editors Karen Blewett Al Gray Steve Maser Dale Stein Steve Welling was presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship for twenty years of contributing (with his wife Annabel) to the Rotary Music Festival. Medal for Al Garden Al Garden was awarded a medal for his contributions to the Rotary Foundation. Classification Talk - Brian Webster Brain Webster was introduced by Pat Knight for his classification talk. Brian was born in Brandon, Manitoba and moved to Calgary as a young child. In 1972 he moved to Medicine Hat and attended Crescent Heights High School. He began his career in fire prevention as a fire inspector at Canadian Forces Suffield. Over the years he has taken many courses related to his career and plans in the future to complete a masters degree in leadership through Royal Rhodes. Brian has studied karate for seventeen years, downhill skis and has certified as a scuba diver. He enjoys traveling with his wife (Rotary member Brenda Webster) whom he met while walking his dog. On a recent trip to Las Vegas he drove a Richard Petty race car at a high rate of speed. The Rotary motto is very important to Brian. Minutes Matters Leslie Jerry - Thanked Rotarians for their contribution to the Salvation Army. Dave Panabaker - reminded Rotarians that there is a Team 2 Bingo on January 3rd. Dick Bide - told a joke with the punch line George Bush. To maintain friendly relations with our neighbours to the south the joke is not being retold. However if you ask Dick I am sure he can tell you the story. Uwe Krickhahn - advised that Rotarians would be tasered if they did not turn in their 400 Club tickets. $gt-at-arms - Doug FINE$ Sgt.-at-Arms Doug Fleming reminded members that it is more blessed to give then receive. He fined Steve Welling for bringing his wife Annabel to this meeting, but not the Christmas evening meeting. President Mike was fined for not starting the meeting on time, it was suggested that the clock be changed to digital to help Mike know when to begin. Doug fined Brenda Webster for being cute and asked her to circulate during the meeting. He also fined all the birthday boys and especially Adolf Seiler for turning sixty-five. HAPPY $ Bruce Dynes - thanked the club on behalf of Joanne Taylor for keeping her informed through the Lubricator and she made a donation to support the club. Mike Hertz - thanked members for supporting the Santa Claus Fund. Stan Sakamoto - stated that there is no free lunch and donated back his membership draw. Fred Von Schellwitz - happy to be back after forty years. Marg Mazerolle - happy son is home from Toronto. Pat Knight - happy first grandchild is due shortly. Joe Hrankowski - happy for Adolf s birthday, Adolf helped him settle in the community. Al Garden happy to be part of the Rotary Foundation.
