Come to our Morning of Advent Prayer on Saturday, 8 th December at St Cuthbert Mayne Church, Launceston from 10am 2.00pm. The morning will be led by Fr John and will include Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions. A video talk by Bishop Robert Barron in the hall a pasty lunch will be provided from 1pm-2pm please add your name to the list on the noticeboard for catering numbers and let the office know of any dietary requirements. BIBLE STUDY GROUP: the regular meetings with Deacon Richard, in the Charles Langdon Room, will continue the first three Thursdays during Advent in December. The group will look at the Readings for Sunday Mass. You are very welcome to join us. The Church will be open from Tuesday to Friday during Advent for quiet prayer from 9am to 1pm. There will be a retiring collection after all Masses next weekend for the Christmas flowers. The Polish Group meet every Friday in the Hall for prayer and worship at 7pm and on the first Friday of the month they meet in the church. Poor Clare Sister, Lynton sadly the convent at Lynton has closed and the nuns have moved to different locations. Thank you to everyone who donated to their Christmas goody box over many years, it was always appreciated. We wish them well for the future. KEEP ADVENT HOLY: 5 Suggestions 1. Read/Reflect you could use Advent Extra, a daily devotion book or an online resource, to feed your inner self. 2. Get some quiet time: there is half day of recollection at St Cuthbert Mayne Church/Hall on 8 th December. Details in newsletter. Or book in to Advent Retreat at Honiton or find some time of quiet prayer at home. These things need to be planned and booked in your diary, otherwise they probably won t happen. 3. Remove the things that hinder you from receiving Christ with joy. Plan a time to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent. 4. Create an Advent Wreath for your home, and light another candle each week. Buy a Christian Advent calendar, and a Christmas Crib, if you haven t already got one. You are invited to bring your cribs to Mass on 4 th Sunday of Advent when they will be blessed. 5. Buy and send Religious Christmas cards with Christian stamps. Price 2.25 CAFOD Advent Share the Journey Campaign, supported by Pope Francis, runs until the end of 2018. This year the Share the Journey will take place at Plymouth Cathedral on Wednesday 5th December 2018 at 11am, followed by refreshments. Come join us. See poster on the noticeboard. St Mary Magdalene s Church is holding their Festival of Nativity Cribs & Christmas Trees for the ninth consecutive year. The Festival will be opened on Friday 30th November at 7pm and will be open every day until 5pm on Sunday 9th December. Our Parish will be participating with a Christmas tree. Marie Shaw will be having a Cake Sale in the Charles Langdon Room after 10am Mass next Sunday, 9 th December to raise funds for the church and the donkey sanctuary she supports.
