Lesson 1 UNDERSTANDING SALVATION 1. SALVATION: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SAVED? a) All sins, past, present and future are forgiven. (Heb.9:12, 1 Jn 2: :2) b) You have eternal life. ( 1 John 5:11-13, John 3:16) c) You are a child of God. ( John 1:12) d) You are now a new creature in God. (2 Cor.5:17) 2. A PERSON S CONDITION BEFORE SALVATION The bible calls all non- Christian sinners, which means that they transgress of break God s law. 1 John 3:4 tells us that everyone Who sins breaks the law, in fact sin is lawlessness. The sinner is plagued by 2 kinds of sin: A. ORIGINAL SIN This is referred to the total corruption of man s whole human nature. It means that by nature man is without true fear, love and Trust in God. He (man) is without righteousness, inclined to evil and is spiritually blind, spiritually dead and an enemy of God. We are born with Sin nature which we inherited from Adam and spiritual death was passed onto us all through sin. See Romans 5:12 One is not a sinner because he committed (act of) sin, but he commits sin because he is a sinner e.g. has a sin nature We are born with a sin-nature and the result of our NATURE is what we COMMIT, acts of sin. Psalm 51:5, Romans 7: :14-20 B. ACTUAL SIN Actual sin every ACT against the commandments of God in thoughts, words, deeds or desires. It is the ORIGINAL sin (sin-nature) in our lives that causes us to commit ACTUAL or acts of sin. Because God is holy and righteous, He cannot tolerate sin. Therefore sin must be dealt with and removed if we are to find fellowship with God. The sinner finds salvation from sin only in the gospel, which tells us that Christ our substitute fulfilled
the Law (matt.5:17) and suffered for us that His righteousness is given to us (fulfilled in us Romans 8:3-4) when we receive Him by faith. (Romans 3: :21-22, Mat. 5:17, Romans 8:3-4) 3. GOD S PUNISHMENT FOR SIN Curses, sickness, physical death, separation from God both now and eternally in the late of fire. (Deut.28:15-18, Romans 6:23) 4. GOD DECIDED TO SAVE MANKIND FOR THREE REASONS a) He loves man (John 3:16, Psalm 8:1-9) b) We could not make it in our own way through good deeds, churchh membership, religions, etc. (Isaiah 64:6) c) That we may show forth His praise (1Peter 2:9) 5. GOD DECIDED TO SAVE MANKIND THROUGH JESUS CHRIST WHO HAD TO COME AND DIED ON THE CROSS FOR YOU AND I BECAUSE a) Without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. (Heb.9:22, Lev, 17:11) b) He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. (Jn 1:29, Rev. 5:1-10, Is 53:7, Mat 1:21) 6. WHAT MUST MAN DO TO BE SAVED? a) Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ the Lamb of God. (John 1:12) b) Accept Him with your Heart. ( Romans 10:9-10) 7. WHO THEN IS BORN AGAIN? A born again Christian is someone who has invited Jesus Christ into his life and believes that Christ has come into his heart. Rev.3:20, John 15:7, Romans 8:14,10:10
LESSON 2 SIN AND REPENTANCE/ HOW TO DEAL WITH SIN 1. SIN A. DEFINITION OF SIN. i) Breaking of religious or moral law. ii) Offence against a principle of standard. iii) Disobedience to God iv) Unbelief- an insult to the divine veracity of God B. CONSEQUENCES OF SIN i) Death- separation from God. Romans 6:23 ii) Lost to God Luke 15:24 iii)condemnation. John 3:17-19 iv) Curses. Deut.28:15-18 C. WHAT IS GOD S CURE FOR SIN? I) Faith in the Atonement- through the blood of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:7, Romans 8:1-2 ii) Repentance- repentance from our sins. 1 John 1:7-9 1. REPENTANCE A. WHAT DOES REPENTANCE MEAN? i) A radical change of mind, heart and attitude towards God. Luke 15:11-32, Acts 3:19 ii) Conscious moral separation and personal decision to forsake sin and enter into fellowship with God. 1 thess.1:8-10 B.WHAT DOES REPENTACE CALL FOR?
i) Doing away with self-confidence and trusting in God. Psalm 118:8-9, Proverbs 3:5-6 ii) Confess our sins, forsake them and trust in God. Judges 10:15-16 iii) Repent and turn towards God. Acts 26:19-20 iv) Turn away from idols and serve God. 1 Thess. 1:8-10 B.IMPORTANCE OF REPENTANCE 1) It is a foundational truth, which is basic to all believers. Hebrews 6:1-2 2) Essential for salvation. Acts 16:30-31 3) It is a command from God. Acts 17:30 4) It was a reason for Christ ss coming. Luke 5:32 (Benefits from Christ s second coming) 5) It is necessary to avoid destruction. Acts 17:30-31 6) It is part of the Lord s commission to us. Luke 24:47 (It helps in evangelism) 7) It is necessary for eternal life. Acts 11:18 8) God desires it for all men. 2 Peter 3:9 Assignment: State some practical ways that will help you avoid sin and live a holy life.
LESSON 3 CHURCH FELLOWSHIP (HEBREWS 10:25) 1. MEANING OF FELLOWSHIP (KOINONIA) GREEK: To fellowship means to be able to share e.g. our feelings, our food, our love, our common faith and believe, Be able to pray together, share our fears, our problems and above all the Lords supper together. 2. WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF CHURCH FELLOWSHIP AFTER ONE GETS BORN AGAIN? a) Encourage one another towards love and Godly deeds. Romans 10:17, Acts 10:24-25 b) Evidence of genuineness of change in life style of the new Christian e.g. the fellowship of early believers. They fellowshipped daily. Acts 2:42-47 c) Association matters a lot in the Christian of faith; you will lose your faith if you don t fellowship with believers. (Heb.10:25, Pro.13:20) 3. WHAT IS YOUR DUTY IN A CHURCH FELLOWSHIP? ACTS 2:42-444 a) Devote yourself to Apostles teachings. Verse 42 b) Devote yourself to prayer. Verse 42 c) Sharing i.e. having everything in common. Verse 44. 4. WHO SHOULD YOU HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH? a) God the father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 13:14 b) With other people and brothers sisters in CHRIST. 1 john 1:6-7, Proverbs 13:20 c) Fellowship with evil people and unbelievers in forbidden. 1 Corinthians 5:1-2,9-11 5. WHAT ARE WRONG FELLOWSHIPS? a) Unchristian fellowship-concubine, boy and girl friend relation etc. 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 b) Membership in unchristian societies e.g. secret societies, lodge, unchristian churches like the Florida water, candles, incense, holy water, white gown and holy father churches. Deuteronomy 18:9-14 c) Worldly societies e.g. night clubs

WHAT DO YOU DO AFTER BECOMING A CHRISTIAN (IF YOU ONCE BELONGED TO SUCH UNHOLY FELLOWSHIPS) a) Come out of them be separated. 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 Note: God wants all men to change and be changed throughh us but our first step of being and to fulfill such a commission is to come out from wrong fellowship or churches before we can genuinely bring them to the Lord. b) Obedience of God e.g. it is not biblical to say am staying in the wrong society because I want to change them. Bible says come out and be separated before you set out to so. 1 Corinthians 15:33 Get yourself involve in the Holy fellowship of the church. Make sure you devote yourself to missions, evangelism and prayer and also to teaching e.g. like early disciples did.
LESSON 4 COMMITMENT DEFINITION: Commitment is an obligation or promise. The act of pledging oneself to do a thing, or to cause a thing to happen. COMMITMENT LEVELS: Commitment to God and to the local church. COMMITMENT TO GOD: Commitment to God starts when we become born again, thus when we ask Jesus to come into our hearts and be Lord of our lives. a) Love Him with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:5 b) Nothing should separate us from His love. Romans 8:35 c) Love and obey Him unto death. Philippians 2:5-11,v 8 COMMITMENT TO THE LOCAL CHURCH The church is an expression of Jesus, it is His body. There are two kinds of church, the LOCAL CHURCH and UNIVERSAL CHURCH. Every Christian on earth belongs to the UNIVERSAL CHURCH but every individual belongs to a CHURCH, this is where every Christian Grows spiritually through their commitment. The local church is an expression of the universal church in your city. The only way to grow as a Christian is to get committed or involved in a local church, e.g. GREM. This is a must for a healthy Christian life. Spiritual leadership and fellowship with other believer is so important to your spiritual growth. COMMITMENT TO THE VISION OF THE LOCAL CHURCH We are a family church, raising an army for the Lord to enforce the will of God through prophetic prayer and teaching the word of God with miracles, signs and wonders following. Elements of the vision: A) FAMILY CHURCH B) AN ARMY C) REACH OUT (EVANGELISM AND REVIVAL)
HOW TO BE COMMITTED a) To the leadership of the church (1 Peter 5:1-6) b) Obey all laws and regulations c) To attend church regularly and be punctual at all meetings. Hebrews 10:25 d) To work for the Lord in the local church. Ephesians 4:11-12 e) Pay tithe. Malachi 3:10 TITHES AND OFFERING TITHE The word tithe comes from a Hebrew word which means a tenth. To tithe is to give God one-tenth of your income and every increase you receive. Malachi 3:8-12 The principle of tithing started in the days of Abraham. He paid tithes to Melchizedec, King of Salem. Genesis 14:18-20, Hebrews 7:1-9 WHY DO WE PAY TITHE? a) It s a command from God. Mal. 3:10 b) Tithes belongs to God, it s not a gift to God. Leviticus 27:30 c) God promised blessing will follow if you tithe. Malachi 3:10-12 d) God will rebuke the devourer in your life. Malachi 3:11 e) The money is needed to take care of the work of God Tithes should always be paid to the local church where you are a member and are fed spiritually. Tithes should be paid to the local church only and not for anything else. It must be paid on time. Leviticus 27:31 OFFERING An offering is a free will gift for the work of God If you tithe and don t give offering you can t receive the fullness of God s blessing because your tithe opens the windows of heaven and your offering determines the measurement God can use to bless you. YOUR OFFERING IS GOD S PLAN FOR YOUR PROSPERITY a) The bible says you have to give you expect to receive. Luke 6:38 b) When you sow, you don t just reap what you sow but you reap a higher quantity. Luke 6:38
LESSON 5 THE POWER OF THE WORD OF GOD 1. IMPORTANCE OF THE WORD OF GOD a) The word of God reveals God s will, law and constitution for His Kingdom. Psalm 40:8, 1 John 2:17, Romans 1:16-17, Ephesians 1:17-18 b) Knowing and abiding in the Word of God (truth) bring freedom. John 8:13-32 c) The Word of God trains you to be perfect as a man of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 2. WHAT IS THE TRUTH? a) Any teaching or statement or thing which will abide forever is the truth, whilst those which de not agrees with the word of God are lies. God s word is the absolute truth. John 17:17 b) God cannot lie, only man can lie. Number 23:19, Roman 3:4 c) We live in a world of disagreement and lies. In advertisements, we are lied to, in the papers, we are lied to and on the news, we are lied to. Thus the word of God (the Bible) is the highest form of truth on this earth. d) The Apostle Paul told the church of Galatia that no matter who comes to them bringing any other doctrine even if it were an Angle, they should not believe it. (Galatians 1:6-12) So if you have ever been taught something and the bible says something different, which one would you believe? This is why we must study the bible daily. 3. WHY WE SHOULD STUDY THE WORD OF GOD a) It is the power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16 b) It will set you free from all bondages. John 8:32 c) It is a Lamp unto our feet. Psalm 119:105,130 d) It makes us prosper and successful in life. Joshua 1:8 e) It makes us grow spiritually (food for the soul). 1 Peter 2:2 f) It is defensive weapon against satan. Ephesians 6:12, Hebrews 4:12
g) Not one word of His promises can fail. 1 kings 8:56 GREM FOUNDATION CLASS h) It brings answer to prayers. John 15:7 i) God s word convicts and protects us from sin. Nehemiah 8:9, Psalm 119:11 4. WHAT SHOULD BE OUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE WORD OF GOD? a) The word of God should be read and studied every day. Proverbs 4:20-21, Joshua 1:8. Establish a quiet time. b) Hide it in your heart. Deuteronomy 11:18, Psalm 119:11, Colossians 3:16 c) To love and cherish God s word. Psalm 119:47,97 5. WHAT HAPPENS IF A BELIEVER IGNORES THE WORD OF GOD? a) He will be deceived. Ephesianss 4 14 b) He will not grow spiritually. 1 Peter 2:2 c) He cannot prosper and have good success. Joshua 1:8 d) He will backslide. Jeremiah 2: :19 e) He will be affected by curses. LESSON 6 PRAYER WHAT IS PRAYER? Prayer is offering our desire to God for things lawful and needful with humble confidence that we shall obtain through the mediation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 1. MEANING OF PRAYER a) It is communication and having fellowship with God. The soul desires God. Psalm 42:1-2, 6:1-3, 84:2 b) It is a cry or supplication. Exodus 22:23, Psalm 34:15-17, Isaiah 19:20 c) It is a deep appeal from a child to a father. Hosea 14:3, Matthew 6:6 2. THE NECESSITY OF PRAYERR a) God commands us to pray. 1 Thess. 5:17, 1 Chronicles 16:11, Isaiah 55:6, Mathew 7:7, Philippians 4:6, Luke 8:1 b) God does nothing except in answer to prayer. John 16:24, Matthew 7:7-8 c) Old prophets prayed. James 5:17, Jesus prayed. Mark 1:35, the early church prayed. Acts 1:14 d) His house shall be called a house of prayer. Mark 11:17, Isaiah 56:7, Matthew 21:12-13, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 e) It brings deliverance from temptation. Matthew 26:41, Luke 18:11 f) It brings power for revival. Acts 4:24-31-34 3. HOW TO PRAY a) To the father. Matthew 6:6, 7:11, 18:19, John 16:23, Acts 12:5, Ephesians 3:14 b) Through Jesus Christ. John 16:23-24, Matthew 18:20, John 11:41-42 c) Be guided by the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:26-27, Ephesians 6:18 d) Pray in and with faith. Psalm 56:9, Hebrews 10:22, James 1:6-7 e) Pray continually. Luke 18:1, Luke 11:13, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Genesis 32:26-28 f) With a forgiving spirit. Mark 11:25 g) With humility. 2 Chronicles 7: :14. Prepared to repent of our sins. 4. WHERE TO PRAY a) Everywhere. 1 Timothy 2:8 b) In the closet. Matthew 6:6, 14:23 c) In the temple or church. Luke 18:10 d) Private prayer should be made in a secret place. Mark 1:35, Matthew 14:23 e) Family prayer should be made with a small group. Acts 1:13-14 f) Public prayer should be made before the congregation. Hebrews 10:25 6. PRAYER FORMULA THE LORD S PRAYER. Matthew 6:9-13 ACTS Adoration- prayer/worship to God. Psalms 95:6 Confession- repent from every known sin. Psalms 32:5 Thanksgiving- be thankful for anything and everything. Philippians 4:6 Supplication- intercession, request, petition and desires. 1 Timothy 2:1 7. CONDITIONS OF PRAYER a) We must pray in the will of God. Romans 8:27, 1 John 5: 14 b) Forgive others before God willl hear us. Mark 11:25 c) Pray in faith/believing. Mark 11:24, James 1:6-7 d) We must keep His commandments 1 John 3:22 e) We must abide in Him. John 15:7 f) We must pray in the Holy Spirit. Jude 20 g) Pray in the name of Jesus. John 16:24 h) Abiding in Him and His word abiding in us. John 15:5-7 8. HINFRANCE TO PRAYER a) Secret sin. Psalm 66:18, Isaiah 59:1-2, 1 John 1:7-9 b) Unforgiving spirit/unforgiveness. Mark 11:25-26 c) Asking amiss. James 4:3 d) Dishonoring one s spouse. 1 Peter 3:7 e) Disobedience to God. 1 Samuel 14:37 f) Despising the word of God. Proverbs 28:9
LESSON 7 INTRODUCTION WATER BAPTISM Many churches teach that the Christian should be baptized in water but they do not teach the same thing about water baptism. To be baptized means to immerse or to submerse or to cover completely with water. Water Baptism is a commandment of Jesus to the church. Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38 1. WHAT DOES WATER BAPTISM MEAN? Water baptism is not just a form of ceremony or ritual. It is an open declaration of the inner transformation by the work of grace. Mark 16:15-16, Romans 6:3-4 IT IS THEREFORE. a) A public confession of your personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 8:36-37 b) A public commitment of your life to Christ. 1 Peter 3:2 c) It is a conclusion of our old life. The burial of the past. Romans 6: :3-5 d) It is the commencement of the new life in Christ community. WHY WATER BAPTISM a) Christ himself set the example. 1 Peter 2:21, Matthew 3:3-17 b) Christ commanded His disciples to follow this example. Matthew 28:19 c) The New Testament church practiced it. It is therefore a necessity. Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-17, 10:44-48, 16:33, 19:1-6 WHO SHOULD BE BAPTISED a) Only those who sincerely believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Acts 8:36-37 b) Only those who have truly repented of their sins and turned to faith in Jesus Christ by receiving Him as their Lord and personal savior. Acts 2:38 c) Only those who are sincerely willing to become disciples of Christ, willing to obey His commandment and acknowledge that He is the Lord of their lives. Not meant for children. (Repent and be baptized Acts 2:28)
LESSON 8 WITNESSING AND FOLLOW UP 1. WITNESS Speaking about Jesus Christ to somebody is what we calling witnessing. It is the speaking of the good news of what Jesus Christ did on the cross which is a love message from God to the lost world and mankind. Ezekiel 3:17-21, Daniel 12:3, Matthew 9:36-38 2. WE WITNESS BECAUSE d) It is command of Jesus Christ. Mark 16:15-17 e) A man without Christ is a lost sinner and the wages of sin is death. Romans 3:23, 6:23 f) As many who received Christ are saved. Romans 8:14, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Isaiah 1:18 g) It makes us wise. Daniel 12:3, Proverbs 11:30 3. TYPES OF EVANGELISM a) Mass evangelism: Sharing the good news with a group of people e.g. crusades, radio, television. b) One on one: this can be from house to house or in the office or the hospital. John 1:40-42, Acts 8:26-27 4. TO BE AN EFFECTIVE SOUL WINNER a) Avoid ignorance. Matthew 13: :9, Luke 24:25,45 b) Be willing to suffer for the salvation of others. Matthew 13:20-21, Acts 20:21-24 c) Avoid doctrinal prejudice. 2 Corinthians 4:2-5, 2 Timothy 2:5 d) Be prayerful e) Be led by the Holy Spirit 5. FOLLOW UP

It is the processs of giving continual attention to a new Christian until he is established in the word and discover s his place of service, develops his full potential for Jesus Christ and helps to build Christ s church. WHY FOLLOW UP. a) It is the command of the great commission. Matthew 28:18-20 b) To nurture the new convert to grow gradually in Christ. c) To feed the convert. 1 Peter 2:2 d) To protect the convert.
