We have never had such an outpouring of love from any Church that we have served in the past. It is clear that you are a special group of Christians and we hope that we can serve you as we serve the Lord together as partners in the Gospel of Christ. In worship, witness and service we are looking forward to being part of your loving community of faith. A little information about my family before we begin, our son Benjamin is a college student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and he is doing his practicum in Clayton, NC this Summer. He has to stay on the field for 90 days and work with Hispanic Churches doing Trailer Park Bible Clubs with children and youth and serving in Churches in their worship services. Ben will join us mid August when his practicum for school is completed and before he begins classes in the Fall at Southeastern. My wife Leigh Ann is a music teacher in the public schools and she will begin teaching this Fall at Four Oaks Elementary in Four Oaks, NC. Thank you for your prayers on her behalf to find a job! That is a little about my family. Now let us look to the Scriptures as we begin together here at Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. In Acts we have the last account of the Apostle Paul s life in the scriptures. Acts 28:30-31 (KJV) 30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came unto him, 31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. That last phrase no man forbidding him literally translates from the Greek text unhindered, which means that even though Paul was under house arrest and was not free to come and go as he pleased, the Gospel of Christ was unhindered. This means no power was able to stop the spread of the Gospel throughout the Earth, even if Paul was jailed for his faith in Christ. I love to learn about history and I wish that the book of ACTS would have told us the final end of the Apostle Paul, but it does not. It just ends abruptly with this phrase unhindered. We have to go to Church historians that tell us that Paul was beheaded by the Ro- man authorities before 70 AD. I love it when the Scriptures take us in a different direction than we thought because there is meaning in that direction. Perhaps the reason the book of ACTS ends with unhindered is to tell us that the story continues with Christians today. The Holy Spirit is continuing the story through believers and new converts as the Kingdom of God is built through the people of God that make up the Church of Christ Jesus. That is my prayer to the Lord God as we begin a new ministry with you here at Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. May the work of the Kingd o m o f G o d b e unhindered as we journey together with the Lord Jesus. You have had great Pastors before me with Dr. Hayes, Dr. Thrasher and Rev. Graves and a host of others that I have yet to meet. My prayer is Lord, please help me to not be a hindrance to Your Work here at Pine Level. May the w o r k c o n t i n u e unhindered. Pastor Todd
