PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS WITH YOUR YOUNG CHILD From the teachers and staff of Annuncia on School: During the season of Advent, here are a few final ideas to help children to stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. 1. Never be afraid to express your faith in front of your children, even if it is something simple such as wishing someone Merry Christmas or blessing yourself in front of the Na vity scene at the mall. 2. On Christmas morning, before going to church or opening presents, gather at your family s Na vity set and sing a religious song together, to welcome Jesus into your home. Always try to be a good example of the love Jesus shows, being pa ent, forgiving, generous, and a en ve to the spiritual gi s of the Advent season. By preparing our homes and our hearts for His birth, we will find this me truly joy-filled. It is a challenge to a empt all these things, but star ng some of these faith-based tradi ons will certainly result in your children having a deeper grasp of what Advent is really about, and they will benefit from developing their innate spirituality with your a en on to the things of God. May you have a blessed Christmas! MEMORIES AND DREAMS Throughout our lives, we retain the language and habits of our na ve region and family of origin. Should we return to our home a er a long absence, we quickly revert to its familiar speech and prac ces. Our deep memory is reflected in old stories and words and speech pa erns. This familiarity runs like an underground river and accompanies us wherever we go. Not only do we remember, we are incorporated into and made part of a greater memory. In remembering and recollec ng, we are in turn gathered up and recollected. Today we remember Mary, a small figure travelling the country roads to visit Elizabeth. All the great pronouncements and dreams of the prophets point to this me when the Lord s words to Mary would be gathered and fulfilled. The memories of her people are alive in her, and memories of her nourish our own living faith. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. PLEASE HELP! The appliances in our Educa on building are reaching the end of their efficiency and usefulness. If you are replacing your refrigerator or stove in the near future and would consider dona ng them, please keep us in mind. Call the Parish Office at 284-3811 to let us know. Pick-up is available. Thanks!

If you have a ques on about a voca on to the priesthood or religious life, contact the Voca on Office, at (904) 262-3200 ext. 101, or email voca- ons@dosafl.com Catholic Schools Build the Kingdom of God and You Can Help! Catholic schools have served for centuries as a powerful tool to evangelize the Faith, energize Catholic families, and build the Kingdom of God in our communi es. Our Diocesan Catholic schools are growing to fulfil this mission for the years to come. Deacon Sco Conway, our Superintendent of Schools, and our schools need your help. Rising costs and a growing Catholic community present real challenges in opera- onal and capital costs. As you make gi s to many chari- es at year end, please consider our own Catholic Schools. A gi to your parish school or to the Diocesan schools would have a wonderful direct and immediate impact as it will change the lives of children and families in our Diocese. You can help a deserving student s Catholic educa on for as li le as $10-$400 per month, or make a pledge to help our Catholic schools create new programs and serve new communi es. Please contact Principal Vicki Farrington at Annuncia on Catholic School to make a gi. You can also contact Lesley Harvey of the Council of Catholic Academies at lharvey@dosafl.com to hear about ways you can build the Kingdom of God through our Diocesan schools.
