Matthew 2:1 Christian Education: *We learned about the story of Jesus birth. *We sang Praise songs and watched a video about Jesus birth. *On Friday we got to go to our very first Chapel with the rest of the school! We got to lead the pledge, Star Spangled Banner and The Lord s Prayer; we said our Bible verse; and we got to sing Christmas songs! Circle Time: *We learned about Christmas, Jesus birthday. *We practiced the days of the week and the months of the year. *We reviewed the following social skills: stopping and thinking so we can make a good choice, not a bad choice; listening; following directions; using a friendly voice; and asking to share.
*We learned about compassion, our virtue for the month of December. Please help your child practice compassion at home. *We practiced our birthdays. We all know the month and the day! Thanks for helping us practice at home! *We will begin practicing our addresses after Christmas. Please help your child learn his/her street name. Language Arts/Fine Motor Skills: * We dictated a letter to Santa. * We played a Letter Light game to practice the letters we have learned so far. * We made a pushpin stocking and numbers. * We practiced gluing with little dots to make a Christmas tree with lights. * We practiced cutting a baby Jesus surrounded by light and we practiced cutting Santa s beard. * We played with peppermint play dough. * We practiced writing our letters in shaving cream. STEAM: * We colored a red/white pattern on a candy cane. * We decorated a Christmas tree with 5 stickers. * We played a Number Light game to practice the numbers we have learned so far. * We counted poinsettias, ornaments and stars and practiced writing the numbers. * We had a Christmas STEAM building challenge every day. * On Friday we sorted Christmas bows into color, shape and size groups. * We also made Christmas slime!
Art: * We made Christmas wreaths by gluing tissue paper balls. * We painted Christmas lights with our fingerprints! * We made a Santa out of our handprints. * We made angels. * We made our parents Christmas gifts. Shhh Friday was a very special day for us. Not only did we get to dress in our pajamas and go to Chapel, but we also got to go see the beautiful Middle School performance of the Berlin Airlift. And, Mr. Lynch, a third grade parent, dressed as the conductor from The Polar Express movie and read the book to us! Reminders: ** Please make sure you have the required outerwear: BFSMS navy fleece, sweater, or fleece-lined rain jacket. You can order them through Lands End; or have SMS embroidered on a navy jacket. The uniform outerwear is required unless the temperature gets below 50 degrees. Also, please make sure the outerwear is labeled with your child s name. And, please help your child practice putting on and taking off jackets independently. **Please donate to our annual fund drive. *Dec. 3-14 Student Council Food Drive 106 114 oz. cans only (you can bring them to the Christmas Dinner on Dec. 18.) *Dec. 15 Please join us at Ft. Sam Houston @ 11:00 to help lay wreaths on our veterans graves with the Wreaths Across America group. *Dec. 18 First Annual Christmas Dinner sponsored by our School
Board @ 5:30; please bring a 6 lb. canned good for the food drive; rsvp required by Dec. 14, tonight at midnight. *Dec. 18 Christmas Program @ 6:30. The children will be angels; please don t forget to get a large white t-shirt for them to wear, one that will fit like a gown. They will wear silver garland around their waists. Please send the white t-shirt to school. We will slip it over their clothes before the program. *Dec. 19 Teachers Luncheon @ 11:30 *Dec. 20 Our Christmas Party @ 11:00 followed by Early Dismissal @ noon. *Dec. 21- Jan. 6 Christmas Holidays; Classes resume on Monday, January 7, 2019
