EDUCATION MONTH FEBRUARY 2016 Matters Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2 v15 (NKJV) New Testament Church of God The LightHouse Melbourne Road HIGHFIELDS Leicester LE2 0DR Telephone: 0116 254 41 31 New Testament Church of God The LightHouse Melbourne Road HIGHFIELDS Leicester LE2 0DR

Greetings Notes: My wife Paulene and I, and the Leadership Team of New Testament Church of God, The LightHouse, Leicester, would like to welcome you to our local Education Month. This time has been set aside in our national Church calendar to focus on the area of education. I want to thank our guest speakers (Rev. Marcel Simpson; Professor Clinton Ryan; Rev Dr. Carver Anderson and Rev Dr. Derek Webley who will be the chairperson for the Audience with Rev Dr. Carver Anderson) who have taken time out of their busy schedules to minister for us during this Month. I would like to also recognize Jennifer Solomon and the Training and Development Team that have organized this programme. My prayer for us during the month is that we would be strengthened in our walk with the Lord. There are many competing things that are trying to divide the church and to undermine our faith. This Education Month will bring forth truths to undergird our faith and to also inspire and challenge us to grow deeper in our walk with the Lord. The Bible tells us that the only thing that will not be shaken in these uncertain times is the word of God; which is infallible and impregnable. The apostle Paul reminded us to Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15 NKJV) I pray that you will take out the time to attend the various scheduled services and to also invite family and friends to attend with you. Bishop Joel W. Haye (District Overseer)

Carver has over 38 years experience in the field of social, community and youth He has also been involved in Pastoral support and training at practitioner and management levels within statutory, voluntary, faith and community sectors. In his various roles, he has taught, preached and presented at seminars and conferences in Africa, Jamaica, Europe, and USA, also across the UK. As a Practical Theologian, Carver advocates for churches to be active in community life, bring hope and insights to those represented in Luke 4:18 (the poor, prisoners, blind, oppressed and marginalised people). His PhD research explored the narratives of black young men associated with the criminal justice system, from which he has considered a theological response. Carver is a devoted husband and father, married to Pauline for 34 years; they have 3 children Daniel and his wife Husnaa, Benjamin and Ebony-Rebecca. Their fourth child Naomi-Joy was stillborn in 2003, going straight to be with the Lord. REVEREND MARCEL SIMPSON Reverend Marcel Simpson was born in the parish of Clarendon in Jamaica and migrated to England in 1998. He is one of the ministers at the Handsworth New Testament Church of God in Birmingham, where he has been a member since 2002 and currently serves under the leadership of Bishop Deverton Douglas. He is married to and ably supported by his wife Sashanna and they are parents to a son, Manoah. Rev. Simpson became a minister in 2009 and now serves as the National Director of Youth and Discipleship for NTCG England and Wales. He has served as local Youth Pastor, part of the team teaching new converts and a prayer focus leader in Handsworth. He is also a facilitator at the Church s leadership training centre in Northampton for the course Knowing the Holy Spirit which he has been leading for the last three years. Reverend Simpson s passion for teaching the Word of God extends to his professional career as he is also a qualified secondary school history teacher. At the age of eighteen years old Reverend Simpson accepted the call of God on his life after years spent resisting the will of the Lord. As a new believer he felt his purpose was not being fulfilled by simply warming the church benches and he was soon thirsting for growth and development in the Lord. Reverend Simpson recognises the journey to this point has been one of great challenge and reward as he states The journey is the process to progress and what I have learnt is that in all things you must trust God and take him at his word because his word never fails. PROFESSOR CLINTON L. RYAN Clinton L. Ryan began his preaching career in 1957 and has been an ordained minister in the Evangelical and Pentecostal traditions since 1963. He served in the congregational churches in England & Wales, and then entered the New Testament Church of God, serving as a Lecturer in Overstone Theological College 1987 and as Principal of Overstone Theological College 1992-2002. He was educated and trained at St. Andrews Collegiate Church London, where he earned his Bachelor of Divinity; Master of Theology and Doctor of Divinity degrees. He later studied Urban Theology at Sheffield University, where he earned the degree of Master of Ministry and Theology; this was later developed into the degree of Doctor of Ministry and Theology. Dr. Clinton L Ryan, also studied Sociology in the Open University and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) In 1995, Dr. Clinton L. Ryan was appointed Professor of Divinity in Europe and supervised a number of theological colleges in England and abroad In 2007, he completed the degree of Doctor of Theology at Canada Christian College and School of Graduate Theological Studies. In 2012, he completed his work on ten volumes of the Psalter called Jesus Christ in The Psalms, which earned him the Degree of Doctor of Literature Prof Clinton L. Ryan served as Minister in the Congregational Union of England and Wales; after the Union of some of the Congregational churches with some of the Presbyterian churches to form the United Reformed Church; he remained a Congregationalist and served in the congregational Federation of England and Wales Prof Clinton L. Ryan has taught and preached across Europe; America and many Caribbean Islands. He served as a member of the National Executive Council of the Church of God in England and Wales
