Matthew 1:23. (light the first three candles) This fourth week of Advent, we light the Joy candle and reflect on the wonder of the promise that is Jesus. (light the fourth candle) We wish for the world to know the promise fulfilled in our king, the Prince of Peace, the Wonderful Counselor. With the Psalmist we declare, Many are the wonders you have done, the things you have planned for us. Today we focus on the joy that is ours in the promised Christ, God with us. God of promise, thank you for sending Jesus to fulfill all of your promises to us. Show us ways that we can keep the promise of Christmas by being your hands and feet in the lives of others. Amen. *OPENING HYMN Hark! the Herald Angels Sing #240 PASTORAL PRAYER & THE LORD S PRAYER & CHORAL RESPONSE Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
