READ IT REVIEW MATTHEW 5:8 REVIEW MOTIONS HAVE STUDENTS COME UP AND DO IT

SEE IT Jesus began traveling city to city to Proclaim the Kingdom of God. He preformed miracles. Great crowds gathered around him. Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. One of those disciples, Matthew, wrote down what Jesus taught them so you can hear from Jesus the same way his disciples did. Jesus said, Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. What does blessed mean? Happy Say: In God s Kingdom Jesus calls Happy... The pure in Heart. WHAT IS PURITY? What are the things you think of when I say pure or purity? Some of you may think of milk! Or what about dogs? What is a pure bred dog? The Jews idea of purity was a lamb that was all white. It was called spotless lamb. A spotless pure lamb was the perfect sacrifice to God. We often think of pure things as things that are not dirty. They are absent of dirty things. WE MOSTLY THINK ABOUT PURITY AS THE ABSENCE OF SOMETHING We judge the purity of people by the things they DON T DO. You know the kid that never says bad words or the friend that doesn t have a dirty mind. Someone described as pure is often thought as a goody-two-shoes who never gets in trouble, but also never has fun. They just have a list of all the things they don t do. GOD THINKS ABOUT PURITY THE OPPOSITE WAY What if I told you that purity is not the absence of something, but the presence of something. It s not what you don t do. It what you do do! Jesus said Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. The purity Jesus talks about has something. It s not about all the things they don t see. It s what they DO SEE. The pure in heart see God working. PURITY COMES FROM GOD King David was called a man after God s own heart. He actively sought God. Even when he made mistakes. And he made some HUGE ones. David s desire was a pure heart and he knew it was a gift from God. READ PSALM 51:10 Create in me a pure heart, O God. Psalm 51:10 We have talked so much this year about our sin and unrighteousness. So we already know Jesus is not saying we come to him with our own pure hearts. Even David knew that God is the giver of pure hearts. But I want you to understand something about a pure heart. Here is what the prophet Jeremiah said. READ JEREMIAH 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 Here is what Moses wrote. READ DEUTERONOMY 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. GOING 100 What kind of heart sees God? A pure one! Have you heard the phrase Keep it 100 or Stay 100. It refers to 100% or completely. That is part of what a pure heart is. A heart that sees God, that see Him work and sees what He wants. A pure heart can see and know God. Jesus saying to have a heart that is 100. That is 100% for God. KEEP IT 100 FOR GOD and you will see Him, you will find Him, you will know Him. Is your heart 100 for God?
