4 St. Brigid Church Sunday 4-15-2012 PARISH NEWS STEWARDSHIP Weekly Deposits (Envelopes,Loose,Building,Maintenance,Flowers,Candles,etc..) 04/08/12 $10,851 St. Brigid s campaign is off to a great start. Thanks to your generosity, as of March 2012, we have received pledges in the amount of $23,861.00. Envelopes and brochures are on the tables at the front and north doors of the church. Please take the time, with your family, to review these materials carefully and to prayerfully consider making a significant financial commitment to help support our financially challenged parish communities. Please place the envelope in the collection plate or see any usher. A WORD OF THANKS: Many, many thanks to my church family for the cards, phone calls, gifts, prayers, mass intention, love & support shown to me & my family during this difficult time. My daddy had health issues, but he never gave up hope. He s now walking around heaven on 2 good legs & enjoying the good life. Cheryl Pyles. CHURCH PROJECTS CHURCH DOOR PROJECT: The estimates for the church door project have begun to come in. We now have an idea how much this project will cost. What we are doing now is analyzing those estimates to make sure we will get the doors we need at the price we can pay. We are also factoring in the cost of repairing the doors to the school hall. The heavy rain we had a couple of weeks ago, not only gave our flowers and plants a good soaking, it also revealed a leak we have in the church roof. The leak is located on the section of the church roof where the choir is. That is why the painting of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. is not where it usually is. We had to take it down because it was getting wet. We will replace it as soon as we can. But that section of the church roof has to be repaired; and we have already begun working on that. So, if anyone wants to make a donation to our repair project at St. Brigid, it is not too late.

8 St. Brigid Church Sunday 4-15-2012 WHAT DO WE DO WHEN CATHOLICS COME HOME? Last week we reflected on some qualities of a good listener. It was suggested that we examine and experience good effective listening skills by reflecting on how Jesus actively listened to the disciples on their way to Emmaus (Luke 25: 13-25). See last weeks s bulletin! This week let us look at another area of formation for the would be evangelizer; namely ATTITUDE. In Chapter 6 of Matthew, we uncover a basic attitude in sharing faith. Jesus taught to give in secret, to pray in secret, to fast in secret not to be overbearing, As St. Paul said, Your attitude must be that of Christ. Here are a few pointers to consider as we enter into an evangelizing conversation: Not to assume that a person does not know Jesus To approach another as a companion on the journey To allow oneself to be evangelized To respect person & life-experience Fundamental to Catholic theology is the dignity of human persons. The evangelist must always bear witness to this truth. We are a people on the way. This demands a compassionate recognition that conversion is a life-long process lived out in the ordinary human experience. EXERCISE FOR THE WEEK Pray and reflect on Matthew 6: 1-5 and St. Paul s words to the Philippians 2: 5 Let what was seen in Christ be seen in you. This week reflect on your personal way of approach to see if it reflects that of Jesus as seen in Matthew 6 and 7. Spanish Youth Vigil Saturday, April 28 th, from 7:00pm 5:00 am In the Parish Hall
