FROM MISSIO DEI Each year during the Advent and Christmas season, we turn our eyes to Bethlehem and celebrate the wondrous gift of Jesus Christ, our Savior. This Sunday, December 23rd, we receive the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Christmas Joy Offering, we honor God s gift by developing future leaders at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color and by providing assistance to current and retired church workers in their time of need. We love and take care of each other. Look for the purple envelope in the pews. Do your bit! Remember, If we all give a little, it adds up to a lot.
ONE MEMBER'S PRAYER SUGGESTION THAT HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE DEACONS! Because this can be a hard time of the year for folks and because some people are very shy/private and don't want to put their prayer requests/needs in the Oremos or mention them during the Sunday services, a member has suggested to the Deacons a way to have folks be able to have their needs honored & prayed for in an intentional way. Her idea was this: Starting this Sunday, a container is on the pew in the front of the sanctuary, labeled "Prayer requests, spiritual needs." This box will be in place until January 3rd, at which time participants at the Taize service that evening will specifically honor these needs by prayer and by burning them. BRRRRRRRR! The weather is turning cold and the homeless have a difficult time keeping warm on the cold nights if they cannot find shelter. Santa Fe Need and Deed is seeking winter items such as coats, gloves and hats. They may be left in the barrel in Koinonia Hall. Thank you.
