OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH! The next Diocesan 150 th Jubilee Mass will be celebrated for Young Adults & Youth Ministers on October 14th at 6 pm here at Cathedral, followed by a special reception. Seating is limited (first-come, first-served basis) To obtain complimentary tickets visit Cathedral s website at www.sfxcathedralgb.org and click on the Jubilee logo. MASS INTENTIONS: In recent years, our parish has not been able to accept as many Mass intentions as in earlier years. However, there are other options for you to remember your deceased loved ones through a Mass intention. Many retired priests in our diocese, as well as priests in mission areas, would be happy to pray for your intention at Masses they celebrate. You may contact the parish office to make these arrangements. The suggested offering/stipend for a Mass is $10. Heavenly Father, the beauty and dignity of human life was the crowning of your creation. You further ennobled that life when your Son became one with us in his incarnation. Help us to realize the sacredness of human life and to respect it from the moment of conception until the last moment at death. Give us courage to speak with truth and love and with conviction in defense of life. Help us to extend the gentle hand of mercy and forgiveness to those who do not reverence your gift of life. To all, grant pardon for the times we have failed to be grateful for your precious gift of life or to respect it in others. We ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen! WORLD MISSION SUNDAY OCTOBER 20TH & 21ST Next weekend we will celebrate World Mission Sunday, a day we recommit ourselves to our common vocation through Baptism, to be missionary disciples. It is one Sunday for the Whole World. Pope Francis calls all children of God to be voices for mission. Places like Uganda where people face food uncertainty and violence...in the Philippines where local clergy face martyrdom...in Oceania where people s livelihoods are threatened by climate change...and in remote regions of Latin America where people are hearing the Gospel for the first time. We speak up through our prayers and personal sacrifices for our brothers and sisters. Please keep the missions in your prayers and please be generous. Join other members of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral to peacefully pray outside of Planned Parenthood in Ashwaubenon. Cathedral times are Tuesdays 5 pm - 6 pm and Saturdays 11 am - Noon. (Now through November 4th). For more information or if you plan to take part, contact Vonda at 371-0839 or visit 40daysforlife.com. HELP NEEDED! FROM FR. JOE I hope everyone is finding time to enjoy the Fall. Perhaps the weather will soon start cooperating! I had a chance to take a drive through the Nicolet National Forest this past Monday. I enjoyed the Fall colors, despite the rain that made the drive muddy to say the least. But the jeep got us through. As we move into the fall, I want to just encourage everyone to watch for the upcoming details in regards to the Alpha course. Our hope and prayer is that every parishioner will participate in the years to come. I have personally gone through it and found it invigorating, thought provoking and helpful in my own relationship with the Lord. This is one more step toward being an even more effective missionary parish. We will need more people to be trained as facilitators. If you feel called by the Spirit to fill this role, please reach out. God bless. In Christ, Fr. Joe CATHEDRAL PRESERVATION/ ENDOWMENT FUND Help us maintain Our Cathedral for future generations.
