Connie, secretary Thanks to the Solid Ground Praise Band for providing the music and sharing their music talent during our worship service today. SOLID GROUND Bio Solid Ground, a contemporary Christian band based in Frederick, MD, has been providing music for local churches, coffee houses, prayer breakfasts and other events for the past eight years. They have also performed at many prayer breakfasts and a final Easter Sunrise service at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Bank members include; Don Blakey (lead singer), Walter Clowes (guitar), David Chiarenza (bass), Bonnie Clowes (keyboard/vocals), and Fred Williams (drums). 4
Food Bank Suggestions for October There is a critical need for the following items to replenish the shelves at the food bank: Canned fruit, peas, pasta, tuna, cereal, boxed potatoes, and toilet paper. Other suggested items for October are: Canned pie filling, sweet potatoes, green beans, canned soup, applesauce, corn, stuffing mix & canned cranberry sauce. In addition to food items disposable diapers and wipes along with laundry supplies are always need by GVCS. As well as food donations, cash donations are also accepted by the Glade Valley Community Services at P. O. Box 655, Walkersville, MD Interfaith Housing Authority IHA has changed the landscape of affordable housing through a variety of programs for low to moderate income residents in Maryland and south-central Pennsylvania. Programs include home ownership, rental homes and supportive services. The Housing Matters program provides affordable housing opportunities, financial education, and housing counseling services for the working poor, seniors on fixed incomes, and individuals or families with disadvantages and/or disabilities, to give them the knowledge and resources they need to achieve economic stability and a higher quality of life. The sign up books for our Fall Dinner is in the back of the sanctuary. Please stop by and sign up for your favorite task and or donation. Cakes to be used for dessert, crafts and donations for the Sweet table are needed. Please contact Cathy Widder or Ron Rough if you have questions. The HOMEWOOD Auxiliary Membership Drive began October 9th and continues until November 29th. Dues are $3 per person and may be given to Betty Baggett, Ruth Ann Engel, Ruth Keyser or Phyllis Smith. A useful pocket calendar is given with each membership. Men are invited to join too. All Saints Day forms are due in the office by October 30, 2016. CROP WALK Greater Frederick 2016 CROP Hunger Walk This Afternoon, October 16th Registration will begin at Calvary United Methodist Church On the corner of N. Bentz and W 2nd Street) at 1:00 p.m. Walking at 1:30 p.m. Join the walk to stomp out hunger or sponsor one that will be walking. Twenty five percent of money raised will stay within the Greater Frederick area. Our Glade Youth Group will be participating in the walk, please support them. Please contact Pastor Phil or Christy Yingling for more information. The Senior Choir is going to sing the Christmas Cantata Song of Emmanuel by Lloyd Larson for the Christmas Eve service on December 24th at 9:00 p.m. We would like to invite anyone who is interested in singing with us for the cantata to join us at our choir rehearsals in November and December. We rehearse in the Fireside room on Wednesday evenings at 7:45 p.m. We would love to have many additional voices for this exciting experience. A 4-Sunday campaign which concludes with a Commitment Sunday on November 13th with a worship service and luncheon. A packet of information was mailed out on Friday, October 14th to all the members of Glade UCC. 4-H Sub Sale Mia and Hailey Ogg will be taking orders today for subs, one of their big fund raisers for their 4-H Club.
