FOR CHILDREN DURING WORSHIP Extended Session: Childcare is provided for birth-5 year olds during worship. Children ages 4-5 visit the Sanctuary briefly for the Children s Sermon. Children s Worship: For 1st-5th graders, 1st & 3rd Sundays during the school year. (Children leave at the designated time during worship and are picked up in Room 11 following worship). Worship Bags: Worship bags are available at all of the entrances to the Sanctuary to encourage children to participate in worship. Please return them as you leave worship. During this evening s service you will be invited to receive Communion. The table is open to all who believe. The wrapped wafer in the center of the tray is gluten free. Tonight we are introducing something new: A Christmas Eve Offering. This offering will support our Galatians 6:2 Fund. As the title suggests, this fund is based on the teaching of this verse, which says, Bear one another s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. The fund will be used throughout the year to assist members in need.

UPCOMING EVENTS CHRISTMAS MISSIONS OFFERING Please be part of showing the world Jesus through our Christmas Missions offering this year. The Christmas Missions offering is an opportunity to bless the world through giving. You can designate your gifts to HBBC Missions, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, CBF Global Missions, or a combination of the three. Give using one of the Christmas Missions Offering envelopes or online at www.hbbc.org/give and choosing the fund you would like to apply your gift to. Help us reach our goal of $25,000. So far, HBBC has given $12,730 to the Christmas Missions Offering this year. DEACON ORDINATION Mark January 6 at 3:00 PM on your calendar, and make plans to be part of this special service as we ordain and install our new Deacons who begin their three year service in 2019. What a special time it will be in the life of the church! MEMBERSHIP MATTERS BEGINS JANUARY 6 Membership Matters is a 5-session class that meets during Sunday School starting Sunday, January 6 to provide newcomers perspectives on living in faith at HBBC. WOMEN S RETREAT The 2019 Abide Women s Retreat will be February 15-16, 2019 at the Rizzo Center in Chapel Hill. The retreat cost includes dinner on Friday night, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, snacks and lodging at the beautiful Rizzo Conference Center, and all retreat costs. The cost is determined by the number of ladies in a room: $325 (single); $250 (double); $225 (triple). You can also join us for Saturday only for a reduced rate of $100/person. An optional dinner outing will be on Saturday (cost not included) and Bed & Breakfast for the second night (Sat): $200 for single; $110 double; $80 triple. There is a $75 non-refundable deposit due by Sunday, January 6. Register and pay online at www.hbbc.org/abideretreat or turn in your check to the church office with Women s Retreat in the memo line. SCHOOL OF MUSIC REGISTRATION Registration has opened for Spring 2019 School of Music lessons. Lessons are available for piano, guitar, voice, flute, oboe, brass and more. END OF YEAR GIVING It s such a busy time of year, we need to remind everyone that the last two Sundays in December are the 23rd and 30th. This results in a very short work week for the administrative staff. So, if you would please be mindful of the dates provided below, we are going to be here to receive your end of year gifts on a limited number of days. Please REMEMBER the LAST Sundays of 2018 are December 23rd and December 30th. If you plan to hand deliver your gift, the church office will be open Thursday and Friday December 27th & 28th and Monday, December 31. If you plan to mail your gift, it must be postmarked on or before 12/31/2018. If you plan to give online, it can be made until a few minutes before midnight on 12/31/2018. Your gifts make a difference. 2019 ROOTED IN STRENGTH FITNESS CHALLENGE HBBC s three-month fitness challenge is coming soon to help you stay motivated through the new year (January 1-March 31). The churchwide goal this year is to track 85,000 minutes of exercise. There will be two prizes given away this year.
