WELCOME TO BINKLEY! Binkley Baptist Church is a community of faith on a journey that calls for questioning, humility and conviction. As followers of Jesus, we embrace spiritual growth, mutual care, and service, assured that as we serve our neighbors, we joyfully serve God. Intentionally inclusive, we welcome people of all races, sexual orientations, and cultures, respecting diverse religious experiences within the church and beyond. We invite others to join us in our commitment to peace, justice, and care for creation. In a spirit of Christian love, we welcome you. The mission of Binkley Baptist Church is building compassionate and joyful community, freely exploring spiritual paths, and pursuing justice and peace in the way of Jesus. This worship service tradition was instituted by the Moravian Church early in the eighteenth century. Sweet coffee and Lovefeast buns are served, beeswax candles wrapped in red ribbon are lit and lifted high. Traditional carols welcome the coming of Christmas as all are invited to sing.

ADVENT MISSION OPPORTUNITIES: As we look forward to and joyfully anticipate the birth of the Christ-child, let us also seek to serve Christ's brothers and sisters who walk among us in need of warm winter clothing and nourishing food. All are encouraged to adorn The Tree of Warmth, found in the narthex, with gently used or new winter gear. The clothing will be distributed to people who visit our church on Friday mornings as well as to the people who visit the free clothing garage at St. Thomas More. In addition, decorated boxes will replace our usual food basket in the narthex. These colorful boxes await your food donations. The food you donate will be taken to the IFC food pantry three times between December 3 and January 3. Thank you for being mindful and supportive of people who may be cold and hungry this Advent season. ADVENT TAIZÉ SERVICE: Wednesday, December 19, 12 pm, Chapel: Please join us in this final service of meditation and chant offered during Advent. PRIMETIMERS: Wednesday, December 19, 12:30 pm, Lounge: Anyone available for a hearty lunch and a wholesome program at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, December 19 is invited to Primetimers. This month, we will be treated to a holiday sing-along with Mike Davis and Caryl Price. Lunch from K&W is $9. Please RSVP to the office or sign up outside Dale s door by Monday, December 17. BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE: Wednesday, December 19, 6 pm, Chapel: This service is a time of healing and hope for anyone who is grieving a loss during this holiday season. CHRISTMAS EVE OFFERING 2018: The Outreach Committee has recommended to the Church Council that the Christmas Eve offering be divided among three projects (to be voted on at the Council meeting on December 17): Fifty percent (50%) will go to Binkley families in need. Thirty percent (30%) will go to the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) to assist migrant laborers recovering from Hurricanes Florence and Michael. Migrant workers often do not have access to other hurricane relief funds. And twenty percent (20%) will go to Wi am Palestinian Conflict Transformation Center, a grassroots civil society organization located at the Separation Wall. In Arabic, wi am means cordial relationships. The Center reaches out to children and families in Bethlehem to provide a safe space for learning and playing, and varied educational and recreational activities including drama, music therapy. We believe it is fitting to support a peace-making organization for children in Bethlehem at Christmas. Many thanks to all who nominated recipients. And please give as generously as your budget allows. These are all worthy projects. WELCOME TO BINKLEY!
