OUR LADY S MESSAGE To the World Given 25th November 2018 to Marija Pavlovic Dear children! This is a time of grace and prayer, a time of waiting and giving. God is giving Himself to you that we may love Him above everything. Therefore, little children, open your hearts and families, so that this waiting may become prayer and love and, especially, giving. I am with you, little children, and encourage you not to give up from what is good, because the fruits are seen and heard of afar. That is why the enemy is angry and uses everything to lead you away from prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call. Fr. Martin Morris s Reflection Spiritual Director of Medjugorje Centre NE Dear Brothers and sisters of Medjugorje North East and beyond, Let us turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance on our reflection for this month's message, for Mary is Mother of the Word. Let us place at the focus of this reflection the parable of the Mustard Seed in St. Matthew's Gospel, Chapter thirteen, and the encounter in the temple of the generous widow who gave everything she had to live on, Luke, Chapter twenty. As a background to these two Scripture passages we hold before us the words A time of waiting and giving given in November's message. In the parable of the Mustard seed, (Matthew, 13:31-32) Jesus reminds us that "It is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it becomes a large tree so that the birds of the air can shelter in its branches." (Matt 13: 32) In this month's message Our Lady is filled with the Spirit of Advent. A sense of expectancy and hope pervades this message. She reminds us of the importance of waiting, i.e. preparing our hearts and souls, so that like the mustard seed in the parable, God may do his work in the quiet and silence of our lives. As we wait for a seed to grow, so too in Advent we wait "With Blessed Hope" for the spiritual Graces and gifts of the Spirit to be born in us. The Holy Spirit is working when we wait with this Blessed Hope. Advent is also the time of Giving, along with Blessed waiting, Mary calls us to an openness of our lives to receive from the Lord. God is giving of himself to you. The utterly free, gratuitous Gift of his Love, poured out upon us in the self-

emptying love of his Son, is available for all people. "A time of waiting and giving, God is giving himself to you." In St. Luke's Gospel, the generous widow gives from the heart, gives everything, because her security is in the self-emptying love of God, she knows how to receive the spiritual gifts. So too for ourselves, in waiting and giving we receive the new life from the giver of all life. At the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth, (Luke 1: 30-45) we encounter the two Holy women who know what it is to "wait and give", two women filled with the Blessed Hope of the first Advent, and for whom "waiting and giving" became Prayer and Love. This is the key, to become Prayer and Love in Advent. Our Lady then encourages us not to give up the good, Because the fruits are seen and heard from afar." Often people share with me the holy and mystical experiences they were given whilst in Medjugorje. Often these graces are life changing and have a profound effect on a person s future. So, we must never become discouraged at the way things are, we must not look for results as if we are dealing with a company or business. Mary gives a rallying call in this month's message to keep going in Faith and Love, to wait and give, because The fruits are seen and heard from afar." Think of - The Mustard seed, The Widow in the Temple, The Visitation! God knows the fruits, and we can see them from afar. "This is why the enemy is angry and uses everything to take you away from Prayer." Our Lady is warning us as Mother of the Church, that satan is active and leads us away from Prayer, from Worship of God. The most effective weapon against satan is: Prayer, The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Holy Confession. In those moments when we receive special Graces, we triumph over satans reign and with Mary we share the victory. She is the woman clothed with the Sun, standing on the moon, with a crown of twelve stars around her head. She is the one who crushes the serpent's head. By God's goodness we are, as was Jesus, her chosen offspring. Victory is promised to us but only on the condition we decide for Love and Prayer. May Advent be the time of Blessed hope, a time of waiting and giving, the spiritual gifts to come. Fr. Martin

Wakefulness and Prayer Advent, calls us to stay awake, to be vigilant, looking outside ourselves, enlarging our minds and our hearts to be open to the needs of the people, of our brothers and sisters, and to the desire for a new world. Turning our thoughts and hearts to Jesus who is about to come. Let us desire to await him in prayer. (Pope Francis) Advent 2018 Our Lady s message to Mirjana 2nd November 2018 Dear children! My motherly heart suffers as I am looking at my children who do not love the truth, those who are hiding it - as I look at my children who do not pray with their feelings and actions. I am sad as I am saying to my Son that many of my children no longer have faith, that they do not know Him - my Son. That is why I call you, apostles of my love: you strive to look to the very depth in human hearts and there you are certain to find the little hidden treasure. To look in this way is mercy from the Heavenly Father. To seek the good even where there is the greatest evil - to strive to comprehend each other and not to judge - that is what my Son is asking of you. And I, as a mother, am calling you to listen to Him. My children, the spirit is mightier than the flesh, and, carried by love and actions, it overcomes all obstacles. Do not forget: my Son has loved you and loves you. His love is with you and in you when you are one with Him. He is the light of the world and no one and nothing will be able to stop Him in the final glory. Therefore, apostles of my love, do not be afraid to witness the truth. Witness it with enthusiasm, with works, with love, with your sacrifice, and, above all, in humility. Witness the truth to all those who have not come to know my Son. I will be alongside you. I will encourage you. Witness the love which never ends because it comes from the Heavenly Father who is eternal and who offers eternity to all of my children. The spirit of my Son will be alongside you. Anew I am calling you, my children: pray for your shepherds, pray that the love of my Son may lead them. Thank you.

REPORT FROM SISTER EMMANUEL of The Community of The Beatitudes www.childrenofmedjugorje.com Medjugorje, November 2018 Dear children of Medjugorje, praised be Jesus and Mary! 1. On November 2, 2018, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross, surrounded by a large crowd who came for All Saints Day. After the apparition, she conveyed her message, ( See page 4 ) 2. 40 Years of Mercy! I am often told that when I reveal personal stories about my own life in my monthly reports, the readers are very touched and happy to hear about them. So today, I will not hesitate to share with you a great joy in my life: on Sunday, November 18, I will celebrate in Medjugorje the 40th Anniversary of my consecration as the Bride of the Lord Jesus. It will be the Jubilee of my final vows in the Community of the Beatitudes (which I made at the age of 31). In my life, I'm not sure I have always made the right decisions, far from it! But there is one choice that I will never regret, a choice that fills me with joy today more so than ever, namely to have said YES to Jesus when He called me to be His spouse. When I think back to the moment when he spoke to my heart, during Eucharistic adoration, I tremble at the idea that I could very well have told Him NO, for I felt completely free to make my own decision! There was no pressure whatsoever on His part. The humility of Jesus is unimaginable! I could so easily have missed this immense privilege! To be able to say YES blindly and with all my heart was yet another gift from Him. At that time, I had no idea what this adventure would actually be like with Him, but the fact that I would be living it with Him already fulfilled my heart. What joy to know that He knew! The only thing I knew was that I was going to follow Him wherever He would take me, and I told Him "even to China if you want!" (He must have remembered my words, because I have been to China quite often these last few years!) The path has not always been easy: God never said life would be 'a bed of roses', rather he promised us deep happiness. Like everyone, I had to go through purifications, but His loving mercy was always the unshakable rock on which I could lean. And long may it continue to be! I ask him today, for the time I have left on this earth, to be able to glorify His name in everything, because I am fully aligned with what St Therese the Little Flower said at the end of her

life, "O my God, you have exceeded my expectation!" Please then pray for me and for all those who are consecrated, that we may give Jesus love for love! We have no other treasure but Him. May He never have to regret the divine call He sent us, but instead, may He greatly rejoice seeing that we follow Him with all our good will and all our poor efforts to achieve in fullness the beautiful dream He had for us when He called us. "Dear children," said the Mother of God, "I am with you to help you achieve it in its fullness." 3. Francesco and Chiara! Chiara Amirante, founder of the Nuovi Orizzonti Community in Italy is a woman who deeply loves the Church and has a privileged place in Rome. John Paul II named her consultant for the dicastery for the Pastoral Care of Migrants, then Benedict XVI named her consultant for the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, and finally she was one of the first women called to the synod. This has enabled her to meet with Pope Francis several times. After the Pope's statements about Medjugorje when he returned from Fatima on May 13, 2017, Chiara had several encounters with the Holy Father. In one of them which lasted more than an hour, Medjugorje was at the heart of the conversation. I have known Chiara for more than twenty years, and I am glad to see that a person so well trained at the school of Mary had the opportunity to be heard by the Pope. Chiara has so deeply embedded the messages of the Blessed Mother into her life that she radiates the motherly light of Mary, and thus attracts many people to God, especially young people who are wounded by all sorts of addictions and wrong doings in the world. Her vocation is to bring out those who have fallen into this pit of hell and who can find no help in our society. This is a great challenge! The first talks with the Pope were private, and Chiara always respected the papal secret. But recently the Holy Father said to her: "Chiara, this time you can talk about what I told you about Medjugorje." I quote Chiara here on some points from her last talk with Pope Francis: "I would like to share a piece of news that has given me great joy. It is true that the statement by Pope Francis on 13 May 2017 in the Lisbon plane gave us a blow to the heart: "I prefer the Virgin Mother, our mother, rather than the Virgin as head of a telegraph office who sends messages every day at a specific time... That is not the mother of Jesus... Who thinks the Virgin would say: So, come tomorrow at such and such a time, and I will

give a message to such and such a visionary? No, that can't be! "And even if Pope Francis then added: "In Medjugorje there are fruits, so many fruits", this did not alleviate our grief caused by this assertion: "This is not the mother of Jesus". After this statement was broadcast by all the televised newscasts in the world, I had the grace of meeting the Holy Father. Know that I have his blessing to talk about his words on Medjugorje. I felt the need to speak with him, because I see that some information circulating in the Vatican is not true. For example, ill-informed priests believe that Mary has already given more than 50,000 messages, which led Pope Francis to believe that she was giving several appointments each day to several visionaries to say different things. So I pointed out, "No, that's not it at all! To date, there are only 672 messages. There is the monthly message on the 25th, given to Marija for the world, and one on the 2nd received and conveyed by Mirjana." Pope Francis then told me that he had "saved" Medjugorje. In fact, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith wanted to issue a negative opinion, but he supported the Ruini Commission which expressed a positive opinion on the first apparitions. The Holy Father said "Medjugorje is very much close to my heart!"during the press conference on the Lisbon plane, he pointed out that there were fruits, that this could not be denied. He sent Mgr. Hoser precisely because he believes that the fruits are important, and that Medjugorje must be protected. He told me that he was the one who authorized the pilgrimages. He is now rallying - for the moment through his envoy, Archbishop Hoser - to keep all that is beautiful in Medjugorje. Let us continue to pray for Pope Francis, for the Church and for all his intentions." Well, my friends, these conversations between Pope Francis and Chiara are a real turning point for Medjugorje, and they give us so much hope! 4. On November 24, we will celebrate the 18thAnniversary of Fr Slavko Barbaric's journey to Heaven in the year 2000. Given the sadness expressed by Our lady on November 2, I suggest that we pray a novena to Fr Slavko, asking him to let the powerful voice of his intercession resonate in Heaven for the protection of our priests and the Church. We know that one of the main causes of Mary's sadness is the black tide of sexual abuse in the Church and in the world. Father Slavko worked tirelessly to encourage the parish to pray and to promote fasting, the only two ways, according to Our Lady, to stop wars, starting with the wars raging in the hearts of men, in families, in parishes... He was a champion of fasting, of the Rosary and of adoration! It was he who launched the fasting and prayer retreats in Medjugorje. Here is a

significant fact that will inspire those who seek the end of all these deadly wars, especially sexual abuse that shatters so many innocent lives and disfigures the face of the Church. At the beginning of the Balkan War here (Spring 1992), in order to hasten the end of the war, Fr Slavko started his first "Fasting and Praying Retreat" (5 days on bread and water) with 20 participants, mainly young people. One day, Marija Pavlovic was invited to pray the Rosary with them at the time of the apparition, and Fr Slavko suggested that the visionary ask the Gospa if she had a message for them. The message received was: "O my beloved! How easy it would be for me to stop the war, if only I could find more people who fast and pray as you do now!" Isn't this message crystal clear? Dearest Gospa, you are the steadfast pillar of faith in the most violent storms, so we take shelter under your maternal mantle. Please help us to renew your messages in our lives, since you are like the mouthpiece for the One who has the words of eternal life! Sister Emmanuel + A VERY PRECIOUS STANHOPE ROSARY FROM THE FIRST WORLD WAR This Rosary was brought back from France during the First World War by a soldier in the trenches. These were made, usually of cattle bone, but occasionally Ivory, by The Benedictine monks in Northern France. It dates back before 1890 when manufacture was stopped. Most of these found in our area were brought back from the trenches of The First World War by returning soldiers, It is rare to find one where the Stanhope viewer is still intact. A Stanhope lens is a simple one-- piece microscope invented by Charles Stanhope, 3rd Earl of Stanhope aka Charles Mahon, 3rd Earl Stanhope (1753-1816) In the Rosaries, the Stanhope is located in the centre of the Cross, looking through it, a picture can be seen. This one shows Saint Joseph, others show the holy sites where the Rosaries were sold prior to the War. The actual picture is the size of a pin head. These Rosaries were kept over the years in part because of their curiosity value but also because of their association with a desperate time for so many nations and a particularly perilous time for the solders who went to war and brought back the Rosary.

PROPHECY OF Matè Sego born 1901 a peasant from Bijjakovici Medjugorje (from Sister Emmanual Book the Hidden Child ) Many years ago, it was said, there was a man named Matè Sego who lived on the outskirts of the current apparition site of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Hercegovina, during the rule of Communists. This man, who was born in 1901, resided in the hamlet of Bijjakovici, near Apparition Hill and where the visionaries would later be born. As recounted in a book by Sister Emmanuel Maillard of the Beatitudes Community in Medjugorje, Matè's home was the essence of simplicity through which prophecy so often likes to work). "His tiny stone house had neither water nor electricity and its inhabitants measured their lives by the passage of the sun and the seasons," she writes in The Hidden Child. "No one knew if there would be bread on the table the next day. They all used to sleep next to one another on the floor. Beds were unheard of!" It was in those trappings, asserts the book, that Matè experienced inclinations about the future. It is said he criss-crossed the valley "spreading nonsensical tales to the four winds," even causing those who heard him to laugh out loud (and wonder if Matè, who made wine, had sampled too much of it). But it is recalled that Matè told anyone who would listen that someday "there will be a staircase going up the hill," and tried to convince everyone that Medjugorje one day would be important. "You'll see black people, yellow people, and white people," he is remembered for asserting. "They'll come here to pray. The church will no longer be this little church I grew up with. There will be a new one, much bigger, and it will be full." Someday, he said, they would dynamite the old church. That occurred in 1978, says Sister Emmanuel, when an earthquake damaged the old one and it was destroyed to make room for an inexplicably larger one. Matè died the day the old church was dynamited. The Virgin -- "my Gospa" -- will come, it is said he proclaimed to anyone who would listen. Was he drinking too much rajka? Was he seeing matters -- as so many do -- in metaphors? Matè, according to the sister, said many hotels would be built in the area. He didn't care what folks thought of him. "However," writes Sister Emmanuel, "some of Matè's words are still a little unclear. 'Listen to me my children!' he once said. 'There will be a spring right around here. A spring with lots of water! So much water that it will make a lake and our folks will own boats that they will tie to a big rock.'" Another metaphor?

Or a description of a great sign prophesied as part of the secrets from this, the most famous apparition site since Fatima, with the most famous prophecies since the third secret? "Didn't the people of Lourdes see springs of flowing water with their own eyes when little Bernadette Soubirous scratched the ground near the grotto as instructed by the Lady?" asked the nun. Or "could a natural seismic event cause such a spring to surface?" Nun Had 'Vision' Similar To Peasant's Prophecy And Also Saw Crisis In Church Did the reported prophecy of this good man named Matè tie in with another prophetic image from another person from the other end of Europe? For this we switch scenes to Rome, in May of 1981, where a Croatian priest named Father Tomislav Vlasic -- who shortly would be ministering in Medjugorje -- was attending a Catholic charismatic conference. At that conference, the priest -- increasingly pessimistic about his parish ministry in a city in the region called Capljina (where he was stationed) asked to be prayed over. His intention: healing of the Church. Sister Briege McKenna -- a wellknown Irish nun with a healing ministry prayed over the Croation Priest. While Sister Briege, a member of the Sisters of St. Clare, prayed over Father Vlasic, -- reported that she received the mental image or vision of a white, twin-steepled church with Father Vlasic sitting on the celebrant's chair in the sanctuary of his church. In the image the priest was surrounded by a large crowd, and beneath his seat were streams of living water (which were flowing from the altar). A tie to the Mate's prophecy? Many people were coming and cupping the water into their hands, said Sister Briege. Simultaneous with this, a priest named Emil Tardif -- another of those praying over Father Vlasic -- reported hearing the words, "Do not fear. I am sending you my Mother." The apparitions in Medjugorje began the following month. On the fifth day of the apparitions, incredibly, Father Vlasic was transferred to Medjugorje -- and a church called St. James, that has two distinct and now famous steeples. According to her book Sister Emmanuel Maillard of the Beatitudes Community in Medjugorje, noted that upon visiting Medjugorje and attending Mass in St. James, Sister Briege was waiting for a homily (in Croatian, which she didn't understand) to end, when the Lord revealed "a scene that will remain engraved in her mind for the rest of her life." This was in that two-steepled church. "I can still see it vividly," Sister Briege recalled. "There was a huge black cloud coming down like fog -- thick black fog -- and as it was creeping down into the cities and villages, all these priests were sitting in front of me. I was desperate, and I saw myself saying to them, 'Fathers, please stop it, you have the authority.'

I knew it was evil that was taking over people's lives. I was pleading with those priests to recognize their power against the forces of evil, their God-given power." Of course, as we now know, the evil, at this time, in the 1980s, was already deeply penetrating the clergy itself. Priests trained in modern seminaries had no education in exorcism and other gifts of deliverance. Soon, there would even be new priests who did not know how to bless a home. In the next scene (the book by Sister Emmanuel recounts), Sister Briege saw that many of the priests had allowed themselves to be caught up in the cloud of darkness which had blinded them. The Lord then allegedly said to Sister Briege: "You must tell these priests that, for them, the only way to conquer the evil forces is by the holiness of their lives, their consecration, and their willingness to let themselves be immersed in My Light." That day began an intense ministry for Sister Briege McKenna -- a ministry often directed specifically at priests (for whom she gives retreats). Notes Sister Emmanuel's The Hidden Child of Medjugorje: at the end of that Mass, Sister Briege went to meet the presiding priest and learned that his homily had been about the power of the priesthood, the need to pray for priests, and the "urgency to recognize that we are living in times when a great spiritual battle is raging -- that the souls of the people of God are at stake, and that the clergy are the army to whom God has given His power." Archbishop Hoser Outlines Plans to Expand Medjugorje and makes comparison to Lourdes and Fatima (Spirit of Medjugorje) Archbishop Henryk Hoser, retired archbishop of Warsaw-Praga, who was appointed by Pope Francis in May 2018 as Apostolic Visitor to Medjugorje, has outlined plans for expansion, including more Masses in different languages and facilities for young pilgrims, according to www.catholicherald.co.uk. Medjugorje represents Europe s spiritual lungs, a place where millions discover God and the beauties of the Church, said Archbishop Hoser. We now have to re-create its infrastructure, firstly by securing its liturgical space. We also need to expand its areas for retreats and provide new places for celebrating the Eucharist, especially for pilgrims. In July, Archbishop Hoser said he was hoping more priests would come to provide sacraments and catechesis training at Medjugorje, according to Poland s Catholic Information Agency, KAI. He said that with rising numbers of pilgrims and visitors, people wait in very long lines at the shrine s 50 confessionals. He also added that roofing is needed for Medjugorje s main walkway, and better facilities for conferences and charitable work. In an interview published in Veritas, a magazine published by the Franciscans, Archbishop Hoser said, Medjugorje has a meaning not just for this part of Europe, but for the

whole world. Medjugorje is an international site whose message is directed to the whole world. Its existence and emergence in this part of Europe are very symbolic because this part of the world has almost always been excluded from peace in the past. Through the centuries, we could say that this land has always been a land of martyrs. This area has a mosaic of peoples, languages and cultures. I believe that the message of peace, which is central here in Medjugorje, is intended for the whole world. Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje: The Apostolic Visitor ranked Medjugorje with Lourdes and Fatima. With regard to the international phenomenology, they are very similar. These are certainly the three greatest pilgrimage sites. Here we have two and a half million pilgrims a year. It was wonderful to see the Youth Festival, where I was present, which was attended by 30,000 young people from 72 countries. Many young people from Croatia also came. In addition, these are the three Marian shrines which call for repentance and conversion and for the prayer of the Rosary. Archbishop Hoser continued, Lourdes is a great shrine based on the dogmatical truth about the Immaculate Conception and it tells us about the identity of the Mother of God. Fatima gives us a look at the contemporary history of the world, the current as well as the future. Between these three pilgrimage sites there is a kind of spiritual solidarity and bondage. He explained that the most important characteristic of Medjugorje is the power of grace. Medjugorje has become the confessional of the world. The confessors confess in almost all languages. When questioned about the complaints of so many shops and hotels in Medjugorje, Archbishop Hoser replied that those are located outside the shrine and that the Church has no authority over them. After all, pilgrims who come here must have somewhere to sleep, eat, wash, etc. As far as trading is concerned, it is impressive to see the variety of souvenirs offered, much more than in Lourdes. Pope John Paul II - Pope Benedict XVI Pope Francis: When asked about the views of the last three popes regarding Medjugorje, Archbishop Hoser answered, Pope John Paul II monitored the development of the situation. The relatively short pontificate of Benedict XVI was very positive towards Medjugorje. This was also demonstrated by the establishment of the International Commission for Medjugorje. And finally, Pope Francis has made the biggest step by sending his representative here. Pope Francis wants to develop pastoral activities in Medjugorje and thus confirms the value of this place.

The Mercy/ Blessing Prayer By June Klins (Spirit of Medjugojre) Father, have mercy on me and bless them. Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me. Who in the world ever made that one up? Have you ever been hurt by something someone said about you? If not, what planet are you from? Not too long ago, someone I care about hurt me deeply by saying some unkind things about me. After I heard this, I could hardly look this person in the face again. It was eating me alive because it was impossible to avoid this person. I confided in my friend Pat about this, and she gave me some good advice. Pat said our pastor, Fr. Larry Richards, once taught her a prayer to say when she was deeply hurt and angered by some people. He told her to say this prayer every time she thought of them (which she says was constant at first): Father, have mercy on me and bless them. Pat explained, If you re like me, you think the words are mixed up, but they re not. You re asking God to forgive YOU and bless THEM! When I started saying it, I was so angry that I said the words but couldn t mean them. All these thoughts raced through my mind (i.e., I don t need forgiven. I didn t do anything wrong, it was them! They don t deserve to be blessed. It should be ME! I m a victim.) After a day of praying like that, I sat down on my sofa in the middle of the night, exhausted from the day of wrestling with that prayer and my thoughts of those people. I realized I had actually been wrestling with God. I started crying uncontrollably, telling God I was really sorry and that He knew what was best for me and those people. And for once, I said the prayer Father, have mercy on me and bless them and really meant it from my heart. I was flooded with peace about the whole situation and it never left me. Within days, God removed those people from my life (they unexpectedly relocated)! I still sometimes pray for them and have no animosity toward them, although I had previously felt I d never be able to forgive them for putting my family and me through a nightmare. I took Pat s advice and said the prayer, from the heart as Our Lady tells us, every time I thought of the person who hurt me. I was soon able to face them and felt perfectly comfortable. I felt like a new woman! Father, have mercy on me and bless them.
