THE LESSON COLOSSIANS 1.9-20 9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, Have mercy and hear us. PAGE 4

THE LORD S PRAYER All Our Father Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever. (from Matthew 6.9-13, AKJV) THE AFFIRMATION OF OUR FAITH THE APOSTLES CREED All I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. PAGE 5

THE DIALOG Show us Your mercy, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation. (from Psalm 85.7) Clothe Your ministers with righteousness. Let Your people sing with joy. (from Psalm 132.9) Give peace, O Lord, in all the world; for only in You can we live in safety. Lord, keep this nation under Your care, and guide us in the way of justice and truth. Let Your way be known upon earth; Your saving health among all nations. Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor be taken away. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and sustain us with Your Holy Spirit. (from Psalm 67.2) (from Psalm 9.18) (from Psalm 51.10) THE SALUTATION AND PRAYER OF THE DAY The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray At the conclusion of the prayer: Heavenly Father, in Whom we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray You so to guide and govern us by Your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget You, but remember that we are ever walking in Your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. THE BENEDICAMUS AND BENEDICTION Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God. The Lord bless us, defend us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. PAGE 6

THE LESSON ROMANS 5.1-11 1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. 6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, Have mercy and hear us. PAGE 9

THE DIALOG O Lord, I cry to You for help. In the morning my prayer comes before You. Give me the joy of Your saving help again, and sustain me with Your bountiful Spirit. Let my mouth be full of Your praise and Your glory all the day long. (from Psalm 71.8) Every day I will bless You, and praise Your Name forever and ever. (from Psalm 88.13) (from Psalm 51.12) (from Psalm 145.2) Awesome things will You show us in Your righteousness, O God of our salvation, O hope of all the ends of the earth (from Psalm 65.5) and of the seas that are far away. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name. He redeems my life from the grave, and crowns me with mercy and lovingkindness. Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come before. (from Psalm 102.1) (from Psalm 103.1) (from Psalm 103.4) THE SALUTATION AND PRAYER OF THE DAY The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray At the conclusion of the prayer: We give thanks to You, Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ Your dear Son, that You have protected us through the night from all danger and harm. We ask You to preserve and keep us, this day also, from all sin and evil, that in all our thoughts, words, and deeds we may serve and please You. Into Your hands we commend our bodies and souls and all that is ours. Let Your holy angels have charge of us, that the (from Martin Luther s Morning Prayer) wicked one have no power over us. PAGE 11
