Texoma\ From our Board Chair: Brenda Jones Greetings Emmaus Family! Can you believe 2018 is half way gone? We survived back to back Walks in March and welcomed the women of Walk #99 and the men of Walk #100 to our Community. As many of you know, Walk 100 was a milestone for us and it was wonderful to see so many of the men from Walk #1 that came to help us celebrate. Now we change our focus to the upcoming Gatherings until time for Walk #101 in November. If you haven t been in a while, please join us. The fellowship, seeing friends, eating together of course, and worshipping together is always such a blessing. Our 4 th Day speakers always give such heartfelt messages and you are missing out! Our August Gathering will be at The Protho Center and will be a picnic. So plan on bringing your family to join us for BBQ, burgers and hotdogs! There will be an opportunity to swim, play volleyball and other games, or just hang out and visit with each other. Last year was so much fun we just have to try it again! We are also glad to welcome Cathy Pugh to our TEC Board to finish the term for Betty Benjamin, who had to step down for health reasons. Cathy will be working on updating the website and the database, so watch for the changes! Please know if you have any questions or concerns your Board is here to listen. You may contact any of us by phone, text, or email. We are always looking to improve our Community so let us hear from you! De Colores to all of you! Brenda Jones Walk #15, Table of Rachel

From our Board Vice Chair: Dayle Roper DeColores brothers and sisters! As the Vice Chair of our community, it s a busy time of year! As you may know, I m in charge of Team Selection this year, which means I line up the Lay Directors, and help them build their teams. I m currently in that process right now for Women s Walk #101 and I m so proud to announce that Marianna Perkins has stepped up to lead! Ladies, she ll need a team, so prepare your hearts for that possibility! After that task is complete, it s time for Board Nominations. Your phone may ring.so please begin praying about what your answer will be! Every year we rotate five individuals off the board and five individuals onto the board. This is a three year commitment and our community depends on this team to help us continue the beautiful movement called The Walk to Emmaus in our Texoma Community. Team progression is something I didn t understand when I first took my walk. So if you re unclear, I ll try to explain! You can work as a CHA (Christ Hands in Action), otherwise known as our on site outside team during the walk weekends. This position is one you can work as many times as you re asked! The only exception is serving as the Cha Leader. This position is recognized as an ALD (Assistant Lay Director) position and is a one time position as long as you have Cha experience at some point before. Inside team or Conference room team has several steps of progression. You start off with serving as an ATL (Assistant Table Leader), then move on to TL1 (Table Leader 1), then TL2 (Table Leader 2) then you ll serve as the ALD (Assistant Lay Director) 3 times, completing your progression with being a Walk Lay Director! How beautiful is that? It s vitally important to learn and grow with each Walk experience. What else is there to do if you re not selected for a team? LOTS! We stay connected in our community! We have monthly gatherings in various churches of our community. The only month we don t meet is June. If we have a walk, our monthly get together is called a Follow Up and that s an extension of the last Walk completed. It s specifically for the pilgrims, and we are encouraged to rally around and celebrate the newest members of our community. Gatherings are held every month there s not a Walk. That s our little family reunion, a time to fellowship and worship together.and of course at follow ups and gatherings we have FOOD. Potluck style meals begin our time together, and we end with Holy Communion! Yay God! Another opportunity is camp set up and take down. That s a fun way to learn all the behind the scenes details and see first hand the work and love that goes into a Walk weekend. You can attend Send Off the Thursday a Walk begins, Candlelight on Saturday night, and Closing on Sunday evening. Your presence is so appreciated by all, even if you don t have a pilgrim or loved one on the Walk. Emmaus requires a ton of commitment at times, and the love that our board of directors, our clergy, and community put in, is HUGE. Teams meet for months before a Walk is even ready to go! We want everyone that is passionate about sharing this experience with friends, family, strangers, to find a place to stay plugged in. Remember your walk, what it meant to you. I always think of the song Here I Am Lord when I think of Emmaus. This is my second term on the Board of Directors, and my love and passion for Emmaus still burns strong. If I give you a call in the upcoming months.i pray you consider the possibility of serving! Much love, Dayle Roper, Walk 58, Table of Rachel From our Board Music Chair: Dennis Wade It is going to be an exciting new year with plenty of opportunities to worship, praise, and serve the Lord. It has been a little over one year since my walk and like many of you I bet you will say that the spirit of God was strong during your walk. I can also say that I am forever changed. I told my close friend Tom the next day that the

Holy Spirit was so powerful and put me on a higher level (closer) of spirituality with God. I also know that I was forever changed much like a piece of metal that was stretched to the point it will never return to its original form. He signed up as my 1 st sponsored pilgrim on the spot. That was less than 24 hours from my 4 th day. Praise God! I told my fellow board members that after my walk, I checked out the Texoma Emmaus websites walk history on the data-base from walk #1 to present. It was an eye opener to find out that some of my past friends and associates were part of the Emmaus Community. I also noticed that these people had something special about them. I really liked their work ethic and attitudes. This ministry of the Lord our God is awesome! God is doing something special through the Emmaus movement throughout the world and I am so honored to be a part of what God is doing. This year, I have the privilege and opportunity to serve each of you as your Music Chair. My job is to seek both God and the Emmaus board s council in order to organize and provide worship teams for the Emmaus Community to praise and worship God. We will be truly blessed in the process. God s word says, I will inhabit the praises of my people (Psalms 22:3). I know it is true because I have felt it first hand at not only my walk, but at the 4 th day & Community gatherings. Do not miss out on the opportunity to fellowship with your brothers and sister in Christ this year. Do not miss out on the blessings you will receive when you praise and worship the creator of the universe. Has God gifted you with musical talent (i.e. voice, musical instrument ability) and are comfortable before crowds of people? If so, and you are interested in being a part of a praise and worship team please let me know. You may email me at dwade.poppyden@gmail.com De Colores!Dennis Wade (drummer boy) (Walk: #96, Table of Luke From our Gatherings and Follow Ups Chair: Craig Nash Ok folks you have been asking for it, so here we go. From the Board Agape Chair: Carolyn Cherry Happy Summer all I'm delighted to serve as your agape chair. The prayer vigil for our upcoming walks will be out soon. Prayer we know is one of our best and most important act of agape for the walks. So start now praying for those people who God is calling to take their Walk to Emmaus. When we think about the definition agape below we see literally affection among other things. So when we preform acts of agape through sponsorship, book cover teams, walk bed agape, conference room agape and FOOD agape. We are just that showing our affection and love. From our Board Finance Chair: Tia Slawson I don t know about you but I can hardly believe it is summer already. The seasons seem to drift by so fast. One day we are trying to figure out how to balance the calendar with all the children s activities and the next thing you know they are all grown up. This is also what the Lord expects of us.to grow up spiritually. He expects us to feed daily on milk until we are ready for meat. 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: I look forward to seeing each of you at our July Gathering and until then Taste and See what the Lord has for you! DeColores, Tia Agape is "love: the highest form of love, especially brotherly love, charity; the love of God for man and of man for God." The noun form first occurs in the Septuagint, but the verb form goes as far back as Homer, translated literally as affection, as in "greet with affection" and "show affection for the dead." New to Emmaus or your group looking for ideas here are some sites that have some new neat creative things to make for agape gifts. newcovenantemmaus.com/pdf/101-agape-ideas.pdf https://www.madisonvillechrysalis.com/agape_ideas.php and of course one of our favorite sites is Pinterest. The number to consider is 12 Team, 13 Table of St Elsewhere, 24-28 pilgrims (Full walk), 7-6 Chas= 60 total pieces of agape. So grab your Reunion group aka Accountability group and start working on those little treasures of love for our sisters of Walk #101 you are sure to be blessed by do so. DeClores! Carolyn Cherry, Agape Chair

From the Board Literature Chair: Audra Williams Have you ever wondered who picks the books for the book table on the walks? We currently order a package deal put together specifically for the Walk to Emmaus by the Upper Room. (The Upper Room is the governing entity for the Walk to Emmaus.) In my three years as the literature chairperson, the books in this package have never changed. (Also in the past three years, we've not made our money back on the cost of this book bundle.) Many of us have read a book, a devotional or a study guide that has positively impacted our spiritual lives. Maybe during your walk you thought of a book that was relevant to one of the 15 talks and you've wanted to share it with others. For the upcoming Women's Walk #101, my fellow board member have agreed that I may request books from the community to fill the book table. This will allow us to be more fiscally responsible, and give you, as members of our community, an opportunity to participate in preparing for the upcoming walk. We need to stay in compliance with The Upper Room, therefore, if you'd like to donate books, we respectfully ask that you please submit the title and author to the T E C Board of Directors for approval prior to purchase. You may also purchase pre-approved books from The Upper Room bookstore. www.upperroom.org/bookstore, Please prayerfully consider how you can contribute to the Pilgrim's growth through study.
