The Emmaus News Columbus Indiana Area Emmaus Community, Inc. Letter to the Community: VOLUME 21 ISSUE 12 As I fondly say thank you for your support and dedication to the Emmaus and Chrysalis Communities the past year, and close my tenure as Community Lay Director, I also challenge each of you to continue to remember our mission as members of the Community: To be the hands and feet of Christ! While serving on team and sharing at Gatherings is joyful, please bear in mind the reason we each took our Walks 1 to 20 years ago: To serve our Lord as He would call each of us. Have you thought about the areas He could be calling you today or in the coming year? It could be on Chrysalis Flights 51 and 52 capably led by Tom and Peggy Ganus, March 1-3. Or God could be whispering your name for teams 91 and 92 that our Spring Lay Directors Gary Fuquay and Connie Yeaton will be forming over the next month. Team service applications are available online. Maybe He is calling you to sponsor one or more Caterpillars or Pilgrims this spring. Please prayerfully consider those God would have you sponsor and remember, it s not too early to send in your applications. Our next Gathering will be at The Rock on January 17 at 7pm with our new CLD Mike Hien taking the reins. Pray for Mike as he prepares to lead our Community through the next year and all the members of the Chrysalis and Emmaus Boards. I have enjoyed the new areas God has sent us in the past year Strolling at Franklin, Candlelight at Jennings County Jail, and making new friends in other Communities. Where will He lead us corporately and individually in 2014? As Isaiah 64:8 states, But now, O Lord, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; we all are the work of thy hand. DECEMBER 2013 Dates for Upcoming Walks & Flights Chrysalis Flights #51 & #52 Men s Walk #91 Women s Walk #92 March 1-3 2014 March 27-30 2014 April 3-6 2014 Blessings and love to each of you, Melanie

V OLUME 21 ISSUE 12 PAGE 2 ONE GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEA! One of the greatest Christmas gifts you can give to someone is the gift of sponsorship. Here are three suggestions that can help you make this gift a life changing experience for someone you love. First, concentrate your efforts on the one person God keeps bringing to your mind. Pray for God to prepare the way, open the door of opportunity, and lead you to invite that person (or couple) at just the right time. Second, be a great sponsor for that person, as you take seriously the many responsibilities of a sponsor. Help them to send in their application as soon as they can. Walk and Flight application forms and sponsorship responsibilities may be found on our website (see below). Third, pray daily for the one you re sponsoring. Pray that God will remove all barriers and obstacles that may prevent your pilgrim or caterpillar from attending that weekend. While so many Christmas gifts have only temporal value, this gift can have an eternal impact on the lives of others and their churches. Bless someone this Christmas with the gift of sponsorship! V OLUME 21 ISSUE 12 PAGE 4 EMMAUS WALK #90 October 24-27, 2013 What an honor it was to serve as Lay Director on Walk #90. God blessed the walk with His team. It was easy to see Jesus in every one of the ladies and gentlemen there. God continued to show me He had everything under control from the very beginning as He aligned the team for this Walk. At team training, He allowed us to be an example of the Body of Christ to team members. We prayed for each other and we witnessed the power of prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit in action preparing us to be His hands and feet. We had twenty-three wonderful pilgrims who experienced God s love in a powerful way. I know that new friendships were formed among the pilgrims and their flame rekindled for the Lord as they go out in their Fourth Days. All the talks were anointed by the Holy Spirit. As each speaker presented their talk, the Spirit moved in to recapture a part of the pilgrim s heart. The posters, songs and skits were great as the pilgrims shared with us their many talents as artist, musicians, and actors. Friday night was very special when we had two wonderful clowns come and share the love of Christ with us. It was very easy to see the face of Jesus and feel His love in those servants. Dying moments cleansed each heart and we all left the chapel a little lighter by leaving some heavy burdens behind. We saw a little of what Heaven will be like when we entered candlelight service Saturday night. What a wonderful way to experience the love of God through the Emmaus and Chrysalis Community being the Body of Christ. Our Kitchen team out did themselves each and every meal as our food was delicious. The Music team was awesome as they led us in worship and celebration each day. The Agape team always had everything in place and on time. The servants of Walk # 90 were God s angels in disguise by letting God s light shine. I want to thank the Emmaus and Chrysalis Community for their support and sacrifices of time by attending sendoff, candlelight, and closing; for their many acts of agape; and especially all their prayers for Walk #90. I do ask that we continue to be in prayer for all the pilgrims who were on the fall walks. I know my life has been changed forever because of this opportunity to serve as Lay Director on Walk# 90. Blessings, Jane Hien Lay Director Walk# 90
