Page Three St. Charles Borromeo Church September 9, 2018 From the Desk of Padre José.. In our First Reading today, we are reminded to stay strong and trust in the Lord. Many times when difficult events are going on in our midst, it is very normal to despair and try to give up. Let us be encouraged by our readings and trust that if we are at peace, God will provide. No matter what the situation may be, God will deliver us. He promised us and will continue to deliver. I wanted to inform you as a parish family that we have extended our membership of our Safeguard the Children committee. We met this past Tuesday and our membership is 12 members at large from our community. The discussion was very lively and soon we will be publishing our Mission Statement for the Safeguard the Children and Vulnerable Adults. I was very encouraged as your pastor for their support and response to be the eyes of safety for children and vulnerable adults. At one point during the meeting, the request came to vote as to whether to have alcohol during ministry events if children are present. It was unanimously voted that there will be NO alcohol during events when children are present. I am hereby informing our ministries to please follow this newly adopted policy. It will only make us better and more aware of the mandate of protecting God's children. In our bulletin today we are placing an insert from Archbishop Jose Gomez. Please take time reading it and sharing it with your family and loved ones. May the Lord continue to guide us and foster a sense of hope in the midst of all that is going on. Let us continue be transparent about our journey and know that we need to be at peace and have faith that God will provide to us as we embrace safety through the eyes of children and those more vulnerable. Fraternally, Fr.

Page Five St. Charles Borromeo Church September 9, 2018 Safeguard the Children PLAN AHEAD FOR SAFE, FUN SUMMER TRIPS Amusement parks are great places to make memories as a family, but it s important to plan ahead to maximize fun and keep everyone safe. Go over the family rules in advance, and refresh information on the way there. Make sure that everyone follows the buddy system, with at least two people together at all times. Pick a predetermined meet-up site in the event of separations, and show children where they can go for help (information desk, park security). Keep an eye out for any adults that may approach children, and stay on top of children s locations at all times. For more tips and information https://www.parents.com/fun/vacation/theme-parks/9-ways-to-stay-safe-at-amusement-parks/. Para más información, visita https://www.parents.com/fun/vacation/theme-parks/9-ways-to-stay-safe-at-amusement-parks/. 2018 VIRTUS TRAINING & FINGERPRINTING SCHEDULE VIRTUS Training: Protecting God s Children Saturday, September 27: 6 to 9 pm in Msgr.
