JULY SERMON SERIES July worship at 10:00am, no Sunday School. Sermon Series Blessed are the Peacemakers July 8 Jesus (Matthew 5:9, 43-48) July 15 Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz (Ruth 1-2) July 22 Jonathan, Michal, and David (I Samuel 18-20) July 29 Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38-42) JULY MISSION CHRISTMAS IN JULY MISSION OFFERING Christmas in July is our monthly mission focus. During the month of July, we ll collect for CBF Global Missions and the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. Offering envelopes for this mission should be in your offering envelope boxes. There are also envelopes at the sanctuary entrances. Thank you for your donations! AUGUST MISSION FOCUS The Mission Focus for the month of August is Back to School. We ll be collecting supplies for Tryon Elementary School. Supplies needed throughout the school year include wide-ruled notebook paper, #2 pencils, two-pocket folders with no rings but with punch holes, non-spiraled composition books, glue sticks, highlighters, tissues, and disinfectant wipes. The number one need throughout the year is notebook paper. Boxes for collection of the supplies will be in the Lair, Scoggins, and Brady Sunday School rooms. MOVIE NIGHT, AUGUST 5 Make plans to bring your family and join us in the Activity Building at 6pm on August 5, when we'll show the movie "Wonder", starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Jacob Tremblay. Free popcorn and beverages will be available. Invite your friends, too - this activity is for the whole community! SPECIAL WORSHIP SERVICE AUGUST 12 Join us in the Activity Building at 11am on August 12, when we ll have an opportunity to hear about our Puerto Rico Mission Team s experiences in Carolina. This will be an exciting time of sharing and fellowship, and we don t want you to miss out on it! Mark your calendars. ALUMINUM CAN MINISTRY Don t forget your cans! We ve been presented an opportunity to help with missions for children in Guatemala. All you have to do is bring aluminum cans (in bags, please) to church, and put your bag in the back of Dr. Bob Lair s pickup truck. The money collected for the scrap aluminum goes to provide resources for Guatemalan children. ONGOING CHURCH OUTREACH MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES We are collecting personal toiletries and amenities, located in the church kitchen. You can bring small bottles of lotion, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, etc. Sisterhood sees that these items are distributed to Steps of Hope women s shelter, and the Polk County prison. We re also doing some collecting for Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry. They re in great need of plastic grocery bags for their Food Pantry.

Hooked The David Stillerman Fishing Project of FBC Tryon We d love for you to come fishing with us! You do not need any fishing equipment (you can certainly bring your own if you wish), experience, or license. We will supply fishing equipment, instruction, drinks, and a light dinner. This is a great opportunity for fun and friendship. Children that attend two events will receive a free rod and reel. We do ask that at least one adult be present with your child/ren. Here are a few reasons we think Hooked is worthwhile: -Get outside... teach kids to enjoy and respect the outdoors. -Encourage friendships... with children and with adults. -Learn how to fish... fishing teaches patience and perseverance, builds confidence, and can be enjoyed for a lifetime. -It s fun! We ll go fishing at these times and places: Sunday, Sept 16 Sunday, Oct 7 White Oak Mountain, 4-7pm Tryon Estates, 3-6pm If you plan to attend, please RSVP, as that will help us provide the correct amount of fishing equipment, volunteers, and food. For more information, or to RSVP, please text or call Jeff Harris at 828.899.1386 or email Jeff at: jeffreycharris@gmail.com
