Additionally, the collection contains newsletters, correspondence, and programs. 1990.038 Bacone College Collection The Bacone College Collection consists of the Bacone College Smoke Signals newsletter, articles, the first catalog from the university, and notes by Almon C. Bacone. 1997.053 Ballenger, T. L. The T. L. Ballenger contains genealogy of the Ballenger family, correspondence regarding Cherokee Male Seminary, Oklahoma church programs, booklets on Indian weavers, and event programs. 1999.031 Collection of the Native American Cultural and Education Authority Agenda, working documents, minutes, legal document drafts, bylaws, tribal information, and correspondence of The Native American Cultural and Educational Authority related to the creation and development of the Native American Cultural Center in Oklahoma City. 1967.009 Congressional Record Booklet on Indian Legislation 1931 House of Representatives booklet detailing the remarks of Scott Leavitt of Montana in the House of Representative concerning the progress of Indian Legislation and Administration. Reprinted from The Congressional Record March 16, 1931. 1983.224 Foreman, Carolyn Thomas This collection contains materials from about 1850 to 1964, although most of the material is from about 1930 to 1964. Included are a full manuscript of her first published book, Oklahoma Imprints, research materials for publication, and newspaper clippings. Much of the collection is family cards, postcards, programs, brochures, and newsletters. Though the collection contains little about her career as a historian, the contents reveal much about her personal life, organizational affairs, and volunteer work. 1995.057 Harris, Fred R. The collection is broken up by tribe and includes the Dawes Commission records as well as several Indian schools. Manes. 1990.014 Indian Schools Information on Indian schools in Oklahoma including Riverside and Watonga Mission 1993.068 Indian Welfare Committee Collection Indian Welfare Committee Report 2009.015 Johnson, N.B. (Napoleon Bonaparte) The N.B. Johnson Collection contains personal, business, and legal letters; newspapers articles and other documents. Much of the personal correspondence is with his second wife Martha (aka Teddy or Ted.) The papers include personal and financial documents as well as materials from the National Congress of American Indians. The Johnson Collection does contain some legal documents including the impeachment of Johnson, Marshall, Welch, and Corn, but it does not include the early years of his career. 2012.259 Juhlin, Alton P. and Myrtle White Correspondences, pamphlets, and articles involving Mr. and Mrs. Juhlin, Angie Debo, American Indians, and their water resources and rights. 2012.230 Martinez, Dianna The collection contains a report card for Angie Billy, a receipt from J.A. Billy, and correspondence from D. M. Windom, US Indian agent. 1971.031 Miller Jean Lareau This collection contains research on various tribes, lists of World War I veterans from Oklahoma, and correspondence with author Louis L Amour. 2013.253 Moorehead, Warren K. Contains two pieces of correspondence between Mollie Hall in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Warren K. Moorehead in Andover, Massachusetts, concerning the Commissioner of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, regarding the contents of an article by Moorehead on deception of Indians in Oklahoma and of his book The American Indian in the United States...A Plea for Justice. 1990.050 Native Americans Brochure The Native Americans, Injustices Done to the Indians 2013.436 Nelson, Will T. The Will T. Nelson Collection contains information about Indian games, the Oklahombi family, Hello Choctaw newsletters, and various family trees from Native American families. 1983.174 Peters, Susie C. The Susie C. Peters Collection contains a small number of correspondence, ephemeral items from American Indian events, and newspaper clippings that deal with the Kiowa tribe, American Indian art and cultural shows, and Oklahoma history. 2006.047 Piepenbrink Collection The Piepenbrink Collection contains documents dealing with Howard Piepenbrink's years as an employee for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, specifically the Real Estate Services (statues and title research) Agency, Reality, Area Reality, Land titles and Records Office, Solicitors Office and Administrative Law Judges (Indian Probate). This collection contains business correspondence relating to real estate matters, right-of-ways, and roads, etc. Some of the letters identify Piepenbrink and some do not. Those that do identify him refer to jmg or a dmh or a dnh. The papers also deal with land surveys, and requests for information about the property of certain specified individuals. Also requests to purchase specified lands are included. Correspondence dealing with land inspection and improvements made to various properties are also included. Payroll concerns, leases, property being leased without permission of the agency, request for damage appraisal, permission to tend to matters pertaining to the maintenance of the land of an individual, requests concerning Indian ancestry. Various manuals are included for members of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, including one written by The Department of the Interior: Office of Indian Affairs. The collection also contains volumes 1 3 of a regional dissertation, as well as employee and division head questionnaires, memorandums, various other documents relating to matters of the real estate section of the Bureau and a file labeled Organization that contains more of the above mentioned documents. Finally the collection contains a compilation of old court cases that have been bound into book form. The following is a list of some of the abbreviations that have followed Mr. Piepenbrink's name in the letters: Jmg: Dmh: Dnh: Lvv: The collection goes chronologically from 1967 to 1994, though Piepenbrink worked from 1965 to 1994. The court hearings are filed according to box and folder number, and the manuals are filed in alphabetical order by title. In addition, the collection contains two hardback books: Court of Claims No. 12742 Choctaw Nation vs. The United States. 1982.065 Requa, Susan Comstock The Susan Comstock Requa Collection contains letters sent to and received by Mrs. William C. Requa during her time at Harmony, Hopefield, and Union Missions among the tribes in the Indian Territory. 2009.203 Scott, Doug G. This collection consists of reports and histories of Indian schools, correspondence with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, an Indian primer, and maps. 1990.117 Seymour, Flora Warren Brochure Notes on Conditions on the American Indian 1998.029 The Indian Bulletin Bulletin contains a brief account of The North American Indians and The Interpretation of Many Indian Names by Rev. N. W. Jones. 1986.001 Thoburn, Joseph The Joseph Thoburn Collection consists of the research papers and materials of Joseph Thoburn. Included are his personal research projects and papers from his time working with the Oklahoma Historical Society. The Union Mission Journal Collection contains a journal written by a missionary stationed at the Union Mission. 1986.003 Wall, Dr. and Mrs. Leon This collection contains documents concerning Indian education. 1982.091 Whipple, Amiel Weeks This collection contains the journals and correspondence of Amiel Weeks Whipple. The journals contain the information Whipple gathered as a surveyor for the US Army. The documents also include some records of his descendants. Along with this is his personal library which includes geology books and many government reports. Additionally, the collection contains the drawings done by Whipple and Mollhausen of landscapes, American Indians, and plants. 1983.018 Wright, Muriel The Muriel H. Wright collection contains documents, correspondence, biographical data, programs, legal documents, personal papers and personal recognitions. The collection is divided into four main series: Oklahoma Historical Society, organizations, Wright papers, and books and magazines.
