5756 Zachary Taylor Highway Mineral, Virginia 23117 (540) 894-4458 (phone) (540) 894-5955 (fax) Volume 33, Issue 11 December 1, 2013 Pastor Lynn W. Beanum, Jr. reetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the captain of salvation and sooncoming King. We are fast approaching December 25th the day set aside to celebrate the birth of Christ. This is a time of great joy. But, we have allowed it to become a time of confusion and commercialism, we know not the date of Christ's birth, but we do know He was born. God is not in confusion, it's evil. Before Halloween, merchants were displaying Christmas decorations and merchandise. The larger department stores are requiring their employees to work on Thanksgiving day, which is set aside for families to be together, giving of thanks to God for his many blessings while having dinner. As the Word of God says in (I Tim. 6:10), For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. We Christians are urged to keep Christ in the celebration of Christmas, the birth of Christ. We look to the 25th of December, as the Catholics and Protestants, and the Eastern Orthodoxy, January 6th, while the Armenian Church observe January 19th. Some hold that it's linked to a heathen festival, however, the celebration can go back to a practice of Rome in 336. Again, we give thanks to our God, for we know He was born. I Tim. 3:16, And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Isaiah 9:6, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Matthew 1:21, And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. As we celebrate Christmas, let's not forget the best gift ever given us, Jesus Christ. We should give gifts as unto the Lord. Do have a most spirit -filled joyous Christmas. Amen. Verse for the Month: And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.. -Luke 1:31

A Word from Our Editor Greetings in the precious name of Jesus. It is a blessing to see another day. God has already filled our day with grace and mercy. We will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the season we celebrate the birth of Christ. Many are visiting love ones, taking time with the family and just relaxing as we slow down to enjoy the season. John 1:14 says, And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. Isaiah 9:6 states, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the Remember Christ at Christmas All The Way From Heaven Down government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. It is good to know the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, who came for us that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly. A Word From Our Elders -Sister Marilyn Silver The love that Christ has for us is amazing. He came all the way from Heaven down to save a wretch like you and me. I thank God for His plan of salvation. As we celebrate His birth, let s not forget His death and His resurrection that brings deliverance to all who believe. Have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. Let s enter the New Year with praises on our lips and gratefulness in our hearts. God bless you always. Christmas is based on an exchange of gifts, the gift of God to man His unspeakable gift of His Son, and the gift of man to God when we present our bodies a living sacrifice. ~Vance Havner Elder Clinton Porter, Sr. Greetings in the most Holy name of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank God for all of His blessings toward us. Time has come again to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus. The day is called Christmas, so we give gifts, some party often forgetting the real reason for the season. Many don t give Him the praise or the thanks He is due. Christ came to save the lost, heal the sick and set the captive free. Isaiah 53:3-5, He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and Page 2 afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. So, let s keep Christ in Christmas. God bless you all Merry Christmas. Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter

Temple Men Speak Everlasting Father; The Beginning and the Ending Praise the Lord! God is great and greatly to be praised. My daughter Leilani shared an experience with me that occurred in her classroom last week. She stated that a guest speaker had discussions about archaeology, defined as the study of human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains. She stated that the guest speaker used the term B.C. which means before Christ. My daughter stated that the use of this term caused uproar in her class and that she proclaimed to her teacher no one came before Jesus! She said her teacher exclaimed we will talk about it at another time! I was pleased that my daughter had heard the Word, believed, and took a stand for God! We must first believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). The Bible states faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17)! I can bear witness with my daughter because I had the same experience in the 4th grade so many years ago. This gave me an exciting opportunity to further witness to my daughter and search God s Word for the Truth. As we studied further, the Bible let us know that according to scripture she spoke correctly. The Bible states in the beginning was the word and the word was with and was God (John 1:1-4). Genesis 1:1 states that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and Hebrews 1:10 reaffirms this. God bears witness of himself according to Exodus 3:14, And God said to Moses I am that I am and he said, thus Temple Women Speak -Bro. Travis Lucas shalt I say unto the children of Israel I am have sent me unto you. Jesus said unto them verily verily I say unto you before Abraham was I Am (John 8:58). A quick website search reveals that B.C. is commonly used to count years in time. Jesus Christ s birth is used as a starting point to count years that existed before Jesus was born in the flesh (God s physical manifestation). God created everything including time and entered into his own creation! What a mighty God we serve! The Bible says, the word was made flesh ( John1:14). Isaiah 9:6 states for unto us a child is born. The verse states that He is a Mighty God and an Everlasting Father (Matthew1:23)! Behold the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, God with us. Jesus says, I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, saith the Lord which is, and which was, and which is to come the Almighty (Revelations 1:8). Remember, our children ARE listening. Be encouraged, be blessed and have a Merry Christmas, in Jesus name. By: Sister Phyllis Sawyer Wait on the Lord" Greetings and blessings to all God s people. F i r s t g i v i n g honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our one and only True & Living God, who has truly blessed me in so many ways. I never want to forget what and where He brought me from. My topic I want to share is, Wait on the Lord! Psalm 27:14 states, Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. No matter what we are going through God can bring us out. If we only continue to Trust and Believe in Him. No matter what the test, big or small we are going to make it as long as we have Jesus inside out, that s the Holy Ghost! I thank God for all the tests that came my way that I didn t pass and asked Him to forgive me and try me all over again. Saints, I m learning to let the Lord fight my battles and keep my mouth closed. Not saying that I ve crossed every T and dotted every I but Jesus knows my heart inside out. Just like the message God gave Elder Robert Brice to give to his people Just Be Patient -I m learning we can t hurry God. His time is not like our time. At times we want our prayers answered right then & there. God will come to our rescue and it will be right on time. He s able, God has not forgotten about us. So let s continue to, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path (Prov. 3:5-6). W i s h i n g T e m p l e o f Deliverance and ALL the Saints near and far a Blessed and Prosperous Christmas & New Year. Volume 33, Issue 12 - December 1, 2013 Page 3

Warren & Mabel Houchens Dedication to the Sick and Shut-In The Way of Salvation by: Unknown This world is rocking and reeling with sin. Sometimes it s hard to trust even a friend. We ve come so far in so many ways; Yet, sin is the same as in Noah s days. Technology has really advanced over time; And we ve seen the stock market soar and climb. Man has such a magnificent, brilliant brain; But it seems his efforts have all been in vain. Though we ve accomplished much in the world today, Immorality abounds in the same old way. We sacrifice our souls for mere temporal things, And then suffer the consequences it brings. Where is the profit if we can t trust our neighbor? And where are the fruits of all our labor? There s certainly nothing wrong with man s mind, But his heart and soul are in a terrible bind- Needing to be freed from the state of sin; Needing the presence of the Holy Spirit within. -Submitted by Mother Ruby Beanum Father, grant true repentance across our land; And may we, Your people, do all we can. The hymns were being sung To Holy God above In thanks for Him sending, Jesus Christ and His love. Christmas brings remembrance Of family and friends, And the importance of our sharing A love without end. Our blessings are too numerous, Our hearts filled with joy, Yet our eyes have often drifted Away from our Lord! The Christmas season brings forth The best in most souls, To help those less fortunate And lighten their load. Temple Youth Travels to: Refuge Temple COOLJC Alberta, VA - (VA Western Diocese Convention) by: Sis. Sierra Silver On Saturday, November 9, 2013 the Combined Youth Choirs, TOD Youth & United Voices of Praise, journeyed with our very own Elder Jason Lewis to Refuge Temple COOLJC in Alberta, VA to participate in their Virginia Southern Diocese Conference. The Youth Department and other Temple members were excited to attend, nearly filling the Church Bus to capacity. The Lord blessed us with traveling mercies, allowing us to arrive safely at our destination without incident; isn t God good? Not only was the journey blessed, but the presence of the Lord was mighty in the building! The Lord preached a powerful sermon through Elder Jason entitled, I Refuse to Bow with scriptural references from Daniel 3:14-18, 21-25 and Luke 4:1-8. He admonished the youth, instructing them not to give in to the pressures of the world, while reminding us that he too has been in our shoes, walked our paths and understands how tantalizing the Devil can make sin appear however, he spoke the word of God into our souls, reminding us not to give into temptation, but to stand firmly for Christ. Truly, this was a blessed journey join us for our next Temple Travels! Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. -Deut. 28:6 Volume 33, Issue - 12 December 1, 2013 Page 7

Veterans Appreciation Honoring Our Veterans: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 We may all be soldiers in the army of the Lord, but it is imperative that we take out the time to honor the men and women who have served, and who currently, serve our country. These men and women risked their lives for ours and we cannot be more appreciative for their service. 2nd Sunday, November 10, 2013 was dedicated to honor the Temple s distinguished Veterans. We called each of them to the front of the Temple by name, honoring them individually (front row left to right), Bro. Travis Lucas, Sis. Thomasine Davis, Bro. LeRoy Middleton, Elder Clinton Porter, Sr., (back row left to right), Bro. Edward Jones, Bro. Steve Dubose, Bro. William Cook and Bro. Trey Johnson. Each Veteran was presented with a handbook titled, Psalm 91 The Ultimate Shield, as a small token of our gratitude, for we cannot pay them for the work they have done fighting for our Country. God is a shield of protection for them. We are thankful for their service and thank God for keeping them safe throughout their endeavors. Please pray for all of our Veterans who could not be in attendance. May God bless and keep each one in His care. Celebrating 33 Years: TOD NEWSLETTER The newsletter has been in circulation for 33 years. December 1980, the first newsletter was published under the direction of our Pastor Lynn Beanum. He first appointed Sister Phyllis Brice as editor-inchief and Sister Deborah Adams as editor, coordinator and photographer. We are so thankful that by the grace of God the newsletter continues today. We appreciate all of those who have willingly volunteered their service and time to produce the newsletter monthly. To those who pray, offer encouragement, help to proofread, fold, tape, distribute, take photos and even donate monetarily we say thank you. We ask for your continued prayers and support as the staff continues to seek God for guidance and wisdom to present a publication that will bless and uplift the souls of those who read it. Pray for us as we strive to fulfill the goal to encourage, enlighten, and inform, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ that men, women, boys and girls may come to know and to love the God of Salvation. May God richly bless each of you. Page 8 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter

The Son s Presence -Excerpts of Article from: Christiancaregivng.blogspot.com (posted by Sharon) forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5b) We can count on that truth even in the most difficult of times. I love to begin my day sitting by my big window in my living room and having my devotions. I love soaking up God's Word and also seeing God's creation from my window. As I write this post for publication in a few days I am remembering the beautiful sunrise I saw from my window this morning. It was such a beautiful reminder of God's power and beauty in creation and in my life. Not too much later the sun went behind the clouds. Still later the sun could again be seen in all its glory. Now, however it is again hiding behind the clouds, and it feels as it if could rain any moment. Being a family caregiver presents many challenges and heartaches. Especially if one's loved one's illness is terminal, it can be overwhelming. Life at times can feel very lonely and gloomy. A caregiver can feel that he or she is alone in this experience. Yet remember, dear Christian caregiver, in the same way as the sun is always in the sky even when we can't see it, so the SON of God is always present with you also. He sees and cares about your care-giving struggles. He promises to teach you and lead you when you feel like you don't have a clue what you are doing. He promises to counsel and to watch over you and your loved one when your path is very unclear (Psalm 32:8). How like that is our lives. In this life we get glimpses of God's glory and of heaven. Sometimes life can feel cloudy and gloomy, however. When the sun is not visible to us it does not mean it is not still there. It is just hiding behind the clouds. So also when our lives feel like they are lacking in joy or we are struggling with difficulties, the SON is still there. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, is always present right beside us. Our feelings may tell us otherwise, but feelings are fickle and unreliable. Feelings are not based on truth. God's Word teaches us that He will never leave us nor Thanks to the many readers who have contributed to the Newsletter with your prayers, encouragements and finances!
