OUR CHURCH FAMILY Gayle De Frell was in Holland Hospital this past week. She had a mild heart attack and they did a heart cath and put in one stint. She is now dealing with some infection issues but they are not related to the heart. She is doing well again. Matt Viel is back home again after reconstructive surgery on his foot. There was a lot of damage that needed to be repaired. Please keep him and Jen and the boys in your prayers as he recovers. Judson Geurink is also home again after his cleft palate surgery on Tuesday. The surgery went well, but it s a long road to recovery. He will be on a liquid diet for several weeks, followed by a soft food diet for several weeks after that. Keep the Geurink family in your prayers. We extend our sympathy to Don & Nancy Gritter. Nancy s brother in law, Glen Boerman passed away on Monday, September 4. The funeral was this past Friday. Pray for comfort for Don & Nancy and the rest of Glen s family. Deb Robbins sister-in-law passed away this past Wednesday at the age of 62. We pray for comfort for Deb, Dan & Julie and the rest of the family. Phyllis Schrotenboer was able to return back to American House last Monday, after being in and out of the hospital several times. She is still very weak, so keep her and Austin in your prayers. Remember Marilyn Dykstra in your prayers as she is recovering at home following her hip replacement surgery. Marissa Sanchez is scheduled for back surgery this Tuesday, September 12 at Helen DeVos Children s Hospital. We pray things go well for Marissa and for a smooth recovery afterwards. Mike Melling is scheduled for cardiac bypass surgery this week Tuesday, September 12. The surgery is expected to take several hours while they give him 3-5 bypasses. Please keep Mike & Lyn in your prayers. ANNOUNCEMENTS This morning the deacons will be collecting an additional offering for World Renew Disaster Relief. This is in response to the recent flooding and devastation in Texas from Hurricane Harvey. Let s continue to uphold the people of Texas with financial support as well as your prayers.

You are welcome to join us for our Gather and Grow session today. Our Israel travelers will be bringing us highlights and life lessons in a five-week series. It all begins in the East Fellowship Room this morning from 11-11:30. High School Ministry kicks off tonight in the Loft at 7:00 pm. Feel free to join us at 6:00 for worship ahead of time. We will be talking about the year's events and begin our teaching series regarding the "Tough Teachings of Scripture." Senior Breakfast: We will meet at church this week Tuesday, September 12, at 8:00 am and take the church bus to the Community Restaurant in Zeeland. After breakfast we will go to the farm of Del & Jan Hoffman. You will pay for your breakfast and we will collect $5 per person for the gas, driver, and a donation for the museum. Please sign up on the kiosk. Sandy Scholten and Mary Heerspink are teaming up on the organ and piano next week Sunday morning, the 17 th. You may want to be seated on time Welcome Mary!! Hilltop News items are due next week Sunday. Narthex Update Fundraiser: Don t forget that up until September 17 th, there is a dollar for dollar match on all donations and pledges to help us quickly reach our goal of $180,000. There are additional pledge envelopes on the kiosk. If you have any question, see the Finance Committee members. On Sunday, September 17, the Sunday School and Catechism classes will have their Meet and Greet time. The children will be able to find their classrooms and meet their teachers. After they get acquainted with their teachers, the children in grades 1-5 (or older if they wish) are invited to visit the Prayer Room to learn more about a new Card Ministry starting up this year. Mrs. Ruth Vikstrom and Mrs. Jen Viel will be showing how we can create cards of encouragement for our shut-in members. This will be a fun way to show some of our older members that we care for them! Sunday, September 24, will be the first day of Sunday School and Catechism classes. Classes will meet from 11:00-11:40. Grades 1 5 will be meeting in the sanctuary from 10:45-11:00 every week to practice for the Christmas program. Not all children will be practicing every week, if it is not your week to practice, then you can go to your classrooms to work on creating cards. There is an URGENT need yet for a 3 rd grade Sunday School teacher. Could you check your heart to see if you can help? Please see Deb Gunnink.

The Gather & Grow team is looking for volunteers to help out on occasion with nursery during the Sunday morning 11:00-11:30 time. If you can help out for a week we have a signup sheet on the kiosk.
