Gläzer; arranged by Lowell Mason *THE PRAYER OF INVOCATION *THE RESPONSIVE CALL TO WORSHIP: ISAIAH 35 LEADER: The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD, the majesty of our God. ALL: Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who have an anxious heart, Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you. LEADER: Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert; the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; in the haunt of jackals, where they lie down, the grass shall become reeds and rushes. ALL: And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray. LEADER: No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there. And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

In the wilderness, you reveal to us our sin and you demonstrate your power to save that we might proclaim your goodness. But instead we complain and fail to trust in your sovereign care. Lord Jesus, you are the bread that nourishes and the living water that refreshes us in the desert. You have welcomed us at your table and you cause us to drink from the fountain of your grace. Yet, we often seek provision from another. Forgive us for the ways that we look within to find strength, we look to others to find comfort, and we look to the world to find our pleasures. Holy Spirit, give us the grace of humility that we might be quick to repent. Strengthen our faith that we might trust in the accomplished work of Jesus. Redeem our loves that we might truly love you and your commands. Give us hope that we might long for the future we possess in Christ. And let us live always mindful that we do not walk in this life alone, but that you are with us until you bring us safely into your presence. PRIVATE (Silence is kept for private confession) THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON FROM REVELATION 7:13-17 LEADER: Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come? I said to him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
