Your financial contribution helps to support the struggling Catholic Community in the Middle East and protect Christianity s holiest shrines. Many Christians in the Holy Land depend on this collection for living their faith. Our Lady of Peace Group will meet on Tues., Apr. 11, St. Mary s Church, 6:30 pm 8:15 pm. All are welcome! Fast & Abstinence Ash Wednesday & Good Friday are days of fast & abstinence. As a sign of our penance, we preserve for the Diocese of Albany the custom of abstinence from meat on the Fridays of Lent. Abstinence binds all Catholics who are 14 years of age & older. Fast binds all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Fasting refers to the quantity of food eaten. Traditionally, fasting calls for only one full meal per day. By retaining these traditions for our Diocese we do not intend that they be interpreted as laws binding under pain of sin, but as customs from which we will not hold ourselves lightly excused. They are expressions of our desire to be converted in our hearts, to be reconciled with each other, & to love our neighbor.

All are welcome!! Faith Formation: How to Pray The Chaplet of Divine Mercy Using ordinary rosary beads, begin with the Sign of The Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, and The Apostles Creed. On the large bead before each decade, pray: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. On the ten small beads of each decade, pray: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. After five decades, conclude with (Repeat 3 times): Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Jesus, I trust in you. Closing Prayer... Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassioninexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen Make the Sign of the Cross... This ends The Chaplet of Divine Mercy Health Ministry: Body~Mind~Spirit Palms and Purification They took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. ~John 12:13 In ancient history, the Palm tree denoted goodness and signified wisdom. Palm branches were used by the Jews as a token of victory, peace and purification. How can we use Palms today? Plants can be one of the best ways to purify the air in your home? Indoor air can be up to 1,000 times dirtier than outdoor air. The EPA estimates that most Americans are exposed every day to indoor air contaminants than can lead to serious health problems including cancer, respiratory ailments, fatigue and headaches. The air you are breathing in your home is likely contaminated with pollutants and toxic chemicals such as: Dust and dirt, Dander (from pets and humans), Paint fumes, Outgassing from synthetic carpet, curtains, fire retardants, glues, cleaning solutions, pressure treated wood, perfume, personal care products, and even your synthetic clothes, Cooking and tobacco smoke, Carbon monoxide, Mold, Bacteria, Viruses, Pollen and a whole host of harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC.s) such as formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, xylene, and potentially thousands more. House plants are not only an attractive addition to any home but they also moonlight as efficient air purifiers. All you need to add is water! Plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen through the process of photosynthesis. An ARECA PALM plant is tolerant of the indoor environment, releases copious amounts of moisture into the air, removes chemical toxins, and is beautiful. They are consistently rated among the best houseplants for removing all indoor air toxins tested and do best in direct, bright sunlight. Other purifying plants are Boston fern, Spider Plant, Aloe Vera, English Ivy and Gerber Daisy. Spring is coming Enjoy God s plants outside and inside your home! St. Mary s Community Service Group Next Sunday is our monthly collection for the Galway Food Pantry. Nonperishable food, paper and cleaning products and personal hygiene items are needed. Items may be placed in the bins located at both church entrances. Thank you in advance for your donations. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. ~ Psalm 92:12 We thank you for your sacrificial offering of $1,018 for Sunday, April 2. To cover our weekly expenses, we need $1,000.
