Grace Cupboard New MPT Bible Study Thom s Thoughts Thanksgiving is next week. We will gather with family and friends. We ll eat too much. We ll watch parades and football and maybe even a few early Christmas specials on TV. Maybe we ll do a little shopping on that infamous day after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a busy, fun, stressful day! What will you give thanks for? We all have lots of things on our minds. We are thankful for family, for our homes, for our church, for friends, perhaps even for good health and finances. Will you actually say the words, thank you on Thanksgiving Day? That would certainly be appropriate. Has thanks actually been given if the words are not spoken? To whom will you give thanks? Loved ones, friends, national leaders, employers, medical folks, public servants and many others could all be thanked. Above all of course we need to and want to thank God for all that our Lord does. As Christians, let s make sure that we include God in our Thanksgiving celebration. Do your best on this Thanksgiving to actually be thankful. Say thanks to those who deserve it. Be thankful in your heart, mind and soul for the One who makes all good things possible. Set aside time during this Thanksgiving to get alone for a few moments with our Lord and Savior. Then just tell God Thank You. In Christ Thankfully, Thom

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Denise and I are filled with gratitude to all of you! Your cards and gifts during pastor appreciation month were very touching. We also want to thank all of you for the raise that you approved for our 2016 budget. Thank you so much! You are a truly generous congregation! Grace Cupboard Food Drive! We have set aside this Sunday November 22 as the date for Thanksgiving Grace Cupboard offering. Let s give thanks to God for what we have by helping others around us. Here is what we need: canned meats (chicken, beef or spam), pastas & sauces, peanut butter, crackers, cookies, vegetables and fruit of all kinds, soups, cereals, ramen noodles, cans of ravioli and beefaroni and things like that. Come Join Our New Ministry Planning Team! The Ministry Planning Team (MPT) works together to plan our church life in the following areas: Worship, Fellowship, Kids & Teens, Discipling, Evangelism, and Outreach. We plan and carry out the ministries we will do in each of these areas. The MPT will meet on the second Saturday of each month from 9:45 to 12:15. That is right after the monthly Elders meeting. Our next meeting will be on December 12. Help us plan and carry out the ministries the Lord wants us to do here at HPCC! It s going to be exciting! Won t you join us? We can also use: toilet paper, paper towels, soaps, shampoo, toothpaste & tooth brushes, feminine protection, diapers & baby wipes. You can also give money. We use that to buy King Soopers gift cards for the things that we cannot keep in Grace Cupboard. This includes milk, butter and several other things. Some of the money we put into the Pastor s Emergency Fund to help with things like prescriptions, bus passes and other types of needful things. Jesus said we can help the poor whenever we want to. Please want to! Many of our neighbors need our help! Let s be generous! Let s give like Jesus. In church we call this season of preparation Advent. The word advent means a coming into being. In Advent we celebrate the coming into being in human flesh of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As part of our preparation we will be decorating the church for Christmas. Our Hanging of the Greens will be on Saturday November 28 th from 9:30 till noon. Last year only 5 or 6 people were there to help. Let s make sure we have a full crew of 20 or 30 or more this year. Bring Christmas cookies and treats to share if you would like. Let s make it a fun day of great Christian fellowship! We ll see you there! Wednesday Bible Study Group Wants YOU!! Studying the Bible is fun and very meaningful! Just ask any of the folks in our Wednesday morning Bible study group. We meet every Wednesday from 10 am to noon. We share fellowship. We help each other carry the struggles, burdens, joys and celebrations of life. We pray together. And of course we study the Bible! We will be off until after Thanksgiving. We will begin again with three of the short books of the Bible. Here is our schedule: December 2 2 nd John December 9 3 rd John December 16 Jude We will then take a break until after Christmas and New Year s Day. Won t you join us? It is great fun and very meaningful. It could change your life! Thanksgiving Potluck November 22 Thanksgiving is only a week away! It is a wonderful, joyous time. Let s celebrate it together! After worship on Sunday November 22 we will have our Annual Congregational Thanksgiving Potluck Lunch.
