Yetnbit Kal Newsletter No. 7, January February, 2007 Ethiopian Adventist Professionals Association Founded Based on the experience and blessings of Global Mission project of the world Seventh Day Adventist church, Ethiopian Adventist professionals Association was founded in October, 2006. This beginning by God s grace is believed to be a starting point for a very great blessing. The vision for such concrete approach started as two fellows discussed on EU News, Publication of EUM, reports concerning Global mission activities in Ethiopia. Through prayer and consecutive discussions of relatively broader scale it was decided to begin some practical activities before officially requesting the church body for recognition. In the mean time however fellow ministers of our church have been consulted and encouraging responses plus valuable recommendations received. Presently then, some five members of temporary organizing committees were set and fund raising started. The Amharic version of the draft material of the association is presently available on our site at devotionals column as Ethiopian Adventist Professionals Association Founded. Regarding activities so far one full time evangelist was hired by this initiative for Jimma, a big town having only one evangelist and another inspired worker at Chena /on the way to Mizan Teferi/ was encouraged in his ministry with some monthly pocket money. House rent is also being covered by this initiative for fellows worshiping at Chenna town. For any communication on this or rendering support for the Lord s job please use email addresses on the Amharic material or Yetnbit kal email. For your financial support to this ministry a temporary account was opened till the ministry gets a legal personality and owns its official account. Ethiopian ministers traveling wide Pr. Alemu Haile, beloved minister and President of the Ethiopian Adventist Union paid visits of six days to Germany and fourteen days to Norway last September. His ministry included sharing the word for Ethiopian fellowships there, discussions on Church growth in Ethiopia and visiting the Norway Adventist Union. Some of the pastor s sermons in Germany will be available at our web site www.yetnbetkal.org soon. Presently also two Ethiopian blessed ministers Pr. Agegnehu Wendim, EUM secretary, and Br. Tefera W/ Mariyam, solo singer and evangelist of Awassa Adventist Church number 1 are back from South Africa having served fellows there. This mission that took like a month was facilitated by East Central Africa Division and in the next issue we will do our best to write the whole story on this trip. The picture of Nurenburg s fellowship served by Pr. Alemu Precious materials coming Blessed Ethiopian fellows Pr. Girma Damte, US, and Br, Tewodros Abebe, Germany, are heard to be writing books in Amharic. So far most of the writings we have at church were translations but these ones we hope add 2
to the little original spiritual writings in the country. Br Tewodros also recently released his Amharic poem collection through e-mail. He promised that the published hard copy of this shall be available soon and if you wish to get the e-book or for any communication brother Tedi may be contacted at meleketmg@yahoo.com. We also are expecting to triumph the news on the release of two spiritual audios shortly. The studio work for both recordings: one by Awassa SD Adventist Church number 2 Emanuel Choir, and the other by Solo singer Genetu Gagado, has been finalized and only the last stage, the release is delayed a bit. Yetinbit Kal is planning to have a window /link on its website for advertising such recordings just like for literature, already available. May God bless the literature and audiovisual ministry of all sorts in all tongues in the whole world!! South West received another visit by CEF Ministers Central Ethiopia field president Pr Lukas Adde, Sabbath School, Family and Global Mission department director Pr Tadesse Adugna and Jimma District leader Br. Arega Sima traveled to South Western part of Ethiopia for what they said Geta atirefrifo yebarekew/abundantly blessed ministry. Four days crusade was conducted at a settlement center namely Huletegna Gabeka presently renamed as Kenean, at Bench Maji Zone, Guraferda Woreda. The service was supported by lap top, LCD projector, films plus Pr. Dag Batchler s DVD presentations on the last day events shown for the congregation. In the mean time we would like to announce that English version of this DVD and /or the Amharic translation prepared at AWR studio of Addis are available at the CEF or through our ministry. Pr Lukas while counting their blessing on special program at Jimma SDA church on Dec.26 evening mentioned that 23 souls were born again on the event, and many more accepted Jesus Christ as their savior and decided to attend baptismal classes. In addition different other spots on the way to Mizan were paid short visits that comprised discussions and arrangements for crusades on most shortly. The blessing Pr. Lukas said made them forget all the challenges of the week just like the analogy of labor and delivery. Hallelujah!! More Visions Coming to Yetinbit Kal It is true that Yetinbit Kal ministry is established some eight years ago to minister the Ethiopian Adventist Diaspora, fellow brethren at home and 3
the Ethiopian church. This ministry passed amazing steps and by God s grace is now running a well visited website, a news letter every two months, a quarterly magazine plus other short term ministerial projects. Some fellows recently are heard to start initiatives of joining hands with Yetinbit Kal and widening the vision. Brother Wondwosen Worku, Bahir Dar University student, proposed of having Ethiopian Adventists portal that enable fellow Ethiopian Christians to Chat, make good friendships, and encourage one another in faith. Amazingly the same vision came from Esubalew Ayalew, an Economics graduate and staff at Jimma University Planning and Programming Office. Well, we at Yetinbit Kal would like to make clear that these communications are at their very beginnings. However we still would like to thank God for giving us such inspired fellows and we hope more visions and much more fruits will come soon on our way through faith, prayer and diligence. Yetnbitkal, as a ministry, is also planning to publish spiritual books and release some spiritual audio. May Glory be to God!! The Awassa Wudase Choirs in Literature ministry The Wudase Choir of Awassa Adventist Church no. 1 started writing an Amharic magazine entitled Ammy means my people. They have so far released two issues covering various topics of which are: an interview with solo singer and the Church evangelist Tefera W/mariyam, miraculous testimonies of br. Alemayehu Mekonen, the journey of the Wudase Choir from its inception and more. This is a living witness that the Lord is working in this enthusiastic visionary Choir and the Church at large. We at Yetnbitkal would like to bless Wudases for this precious activity and will be displaying some of these blessings at our site. Br. Alemayehu s testimony being the first to come soon. We would also like to encourage our beloved readers to pray for Wudases, encourage them, and enjoy their materials by subscribing at: Ammy magazine Editors Awassa SDA Church No. 1 P.O. Outreach ministries at Awassa SDA Church No. 2 The Awassa SDA Church number 2 located at a very strategic spot in front of the town s bus station is proving active in outreach ministries. According to br. Assabu Hankamo, youth leader of the Church several invitations come from various Churches of the field. The very recent Churches ministered include Ejersa, Charicho, Chiriko and Mesenkela of the Sidama district; Alaba and Hargoba Churches of the Kembata and Hadiya district and Nazareth SDA Church of the Central Ethiopian Field. In all places the teams traveled, Assabu explains, God is mightily blessing the Churches and only in Sidama district about two hundred new souls received Christ as their personal savior, many backsliders renewed their covenants and many more were revived in their spirituality. At almost all places fund raising activities were made fruits including building of new Churches at Ejersa and Charicho, rebuilding an old Church at Chiriko, processing sound system and musical instrument at Mesenkela and many others. The mission to Alaba and Hargoba was also blessed with some twenty new souls and wonderful revival. May our gracious God bless this ministry!! Wonderful blessings from Milipitas fellows It is to be remembered that we wrote about blessed initiative on progress at Milipitas Ethiopian Adventists Fellowship in our last issue. Our brother Yilma Tesfaye recently wrote us that God has blessed their efforts really amazingly. Praising God for this we would like to inform you that we will be writing more on this in our magazine in near future to give better coverage for the blessing. 5
LEWERU No words I What is the word appropriate? What is the idea that is right? Whose counsels can guide the way? May some one have a word to say? Yes, the controversy is fierce The trouble unbearable the situation just tempts The feelings in my heart I can hardly tell Nor can I understand nor can I expel But, one thing I surely know and believe strongly God is on His throne and will never leave me lonely. Despite the situation says despite the enemy claims The down is just to come and my heart will soon rejoice!! (19, Dec., 2004:1:10pm right after...) No words II Those days I remember When I missed words to utter When I was so perplexed Full of despair and confused. But, by the time God heard my prayer And He moved to richly answer Came the same problem in life For different cause but still tough Hard times caused the first But today causes are blessings Now came my father's time His time to open doors And once again the problem No words to thank Jesus!! Hallelujah!! 22 - Jan. - 2005 (The blessed Sabbath) No words I & II from Br. Atkilt Esaiyas **************...my inmost being is consumed with longing.
