It is fitting that we should celebrate the Holy Mass together at our Parish, the center of our spiritual life. We ask everyone gathered here to remember this is a holy place. It is a place where the Blessed Sacrament, Our Lord present among us, is kept in the tabernacle. It is also a sacred place for prayer. Therefore, please maintain a respectful silence in the Church out of consideration for the presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, and those who are praying. Thank you for your understanding. PRO LIFE NEWS FOR NOVEMBER 10, 2013 ~ According to NPR, the O care website, Healthcare.gov, does not have any information on what plans do or do not cover abortion. Cong. Chris Smith (R NJ) has filed a bill that would address O care's secrecy clause by requiring health plans to disclose whether they cover abortion. Cardinal Sean O'Malley, Chair of the USCCB's Committee on Pro Life Activities, wrote a letter to Congress: "H.R. 3279 does not affect the Affordable Care Act's underlying abortion problem, which is the subject of other legislation we support such as the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R. 7)...The new bill addresses only this unprecedented policy of governmentenforced secrecy. Health plans will have to report on their coverage of abortion, and on the extra payment they charge to cover abortions. Only then will Americans be enabled to make an informed choice of a health plan for themselves and their families that does not violate their moral and religious convictions. This should be a point of agreement between lawmakers who consider themselves both 'pro life' and 'pro choice.' Any claim of 'choice' is empty if the law conceals the facts needed to make that choice. Please co sponsor H.R. 3279 and help enact it into law." You can send this same message to your Congressmen from Massachusetts Citizens for Life's website, or you can contact them by phone or email. Thank you for helping create a Culture of Life! 2014 SJBS LOTTERY CALENDARS: St. John the Baptist School is now selling its 2013 Lottery Calendars. ~~ BACK PAGE HUMOR & MORE ~~ JOKES PRINTED ON THIS PAGE ARE ONLY MEANT AS A FORM OF HUMOR AND ARE NEVER INTENDED TO OFFEND ANYONE. In a Detroit church one Sunday morning, a preacher said, "Anyone with 'special needs' who wants to be prayed over, please come forward to the front by the altar." With that, Leroy got in line, and when it was his turn, the Preacher asked, "Leroy, what do you want me to pray about for you?" Leroy replied, "Preacher, I need you to pray for help with my hearing." The preacher put one finger of one hand in Leroy's ear, placed his other hand on top of Leroy's head, and then prayed and prayed and prayed. He prayed a "blue streak" for Leroy, and the whole congregation joined in with great enthusiasm. After a few minutes, the preacher removed his hands, stood back and asked, "Leroy, how is your hearing now?" Leroy answered, "I don't know. It ain t 'til Thursday."
