Powell Welcome and Announcements Call to Worship: Jesus, Let Us Come to Know You Michael Card Jesus, let us come to know you; Touch us, hold us, use us, mold us; only let us live in you. Jesus, draw us ever nearer; hold us in your loving arms, Wrap us in your gentle presence; when the end comes bring us home. * Opening Hymns: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise #579:1-4 Bless the Lord, O My Soul #516 * God s Greeting Call to Confession WE CONFESS OUR SIN Prayer of Confession For the times we have lied to one another and the times we have been lied to, For the times we have laughed at another s pain and the times we have been laughed at, For the times we have spoken when we should have remained silent and the times we have remained silent when we should have spoken, For the times we have not respected another s freedom to be different from us,

For the times we have betrayed a friend and the times we have been betrayed, O God of heaven and earth, you emptied yourself of your power and became a helpless baby in order that you might heal the sick world. Teach us to empty ourselves of the things that destroy us and keep us alone. Empty us of our jealousy, of our meanness, of our fear of others. For Jesus sake. Amen. Assurance of Pardon * Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles Creed front cover of hymnal * Hymn of Response: And Can It Be #695:1,2,4 Message for Children GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS WORD Blessing for Children Leader: People of God, what is your prayer for these children? And in temptations hour, save through thy mighty power. Thine aid oh send us. Hear us in mercy. Show us thy favor, so shall we live and sing praise to thee. Called through worship to your service, forth in your dear name we go, To the child, the youth, the aged, love in living deeds to show. Hope and health, goodwill and comfort, counsel, aid, and peace we give, That your servants, Lord, in freedom may your mercy know, and live.
