Evening worship: Woodlawn CRC hosts a combined service at 5 PM. Pastor Bryant DeKruyter preaches on Joshua 3. The offering is for In the Image. Nursery is provided. WORSHIP Next Sunday, August 13 Morning worship: Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys will preach from Matthew 3:13-17, God s Beloved Child. Our summer choir will lead us in worship, and the offering will be for Mission Outreach. Evening worship: We will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord s Supper, and Beverly Weeks will preach. The offerings will be for Pine Rest Assistance Fund and Benevolence. STAFF NOTES: Pastor Rebecca is on vacation July 31-August 7. COUNCIL NEWS Our Council and Education Committee are searching for a part-time Youth Director for the 2017-2018 school year as we continue our discernment for overall staffing at Calvin Church. The Youth Director is responsible for equipping and empowering the congregation for ministry to those aged 6th grade - mid-twenties, with a particular focus on ministry to middle school and high school students. Richard now lives in the Cook Center of Raybrook Manor, and Teresa lives in DeVos Center Room 131. Pray for both of them in this time of transition. Boyd Hoffman (district 2) was transferred to Blodgett Hospital this past Wednesday evening. We are encouraged to pray for him and his family as he deals with yet another set-back.
Please pray for the Lord to guide and sustain Marian Beltman (district 3) and Gene & Miriam DeLange (district 1) in these difficult times of their lives. The flowers this week are given by Pastor Rebecca in gratitude for six years of ministry so far at Calvin Church and in joyful remembrance of her installation to this congregation on August 7, 2011. A warm thank you to our pastors for their visits, emails, and phone calls related to my rotator cuff surgery. Thank you too for the cards, visits, emails, Facebook well-wishes, and phone calls that I have received from the Calvin Church family. I know that the prayers of many have helped me in the recovery process. It will take some time before I have complete mobility in that right arm. I would appreciate your ongoing prayers for patience and continuing success with the physical therapy process. THE CALVIN CHURCH CANCER SUPPORT GROUP meets the second Wednesday of every month. We meet this week, at 4 PM in the church office conference room. Those dealing with this medical issue are welcome to attend one of these meetings to check it out. SUMMER CHOIR: It s time to dust off those vocal cords. Our annual Summer Choir will meet on Sunday, August 13, to sing for the morning service. Anyone who would like to sing is invited to join us at 9 AM that day in the balcony for a pre-service rehearsal. Bring a friend too!

The Chancel banner expresses the Christian belief that in one God there are three divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The color green represents spiritual growth during the season of the Lord s life and ministry. Large print resources are available at the information desk. Adult coloring pages are on the TRIP table in the narthex. Our facility is equipped with the Loop hearing system. For Children: Ages 0-2: Infant and toddler nurseries are available. Preschool: The Little Children (TLC) gathers downstairs in room 19 prior to the morning worship. Busy Bags for young children are on the picket fence in the atrium. Bulletins for older children are in the rack in the narthex. Coloring pages and colored pencils are available at the table in the narthex. Fellowship and Information: Everyone is invited to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments following the morning service.
