A Reminder to Use Your New Offering Envelopes New boxes of offering envelopes for 2019 (BLUE in color) will be issued Thursday, December 20, 2018. The last time to use the 2018 YELLOW envelopes will be the New Year s Eve Service December 31 st! Please destroy any remaining 2018 YELLOW offering envelopes after the December 31 st services!! Begin using the BLUE offering envelopes SUNDAY, January 6, 2019. You are encouraged to use your offering envelopes for each church offering. Using your envelopes speeds the money counting process and ensures that you will receive credit for your contribution. If you do not place your check in an offering envelope, the person posting your contribution must look up your envelope number so proper credit can be given. Also, please remember to write the amount of your contribution on the line provided on the front of the envelope. This is very helpful to those counting the offering. If you are not using your envelopes at this time, please do so in the future. Offering Counters are needed to assist the Treasurer and Assistant Treasure count and record the offerings following each Sunday service. No experience is needed. Please call the church office (452-2121) or sign-up on the Chapel doors in the Narthex if you are willing to assist.

A true king's strength is seen, not in vaults and arsenals, but in the loyalty of his people. We celebrate the birth of the King who won the victory, not by taxing his subjects and killing his enemies, but by serving, loving and dying for them. By his resurrection, He destroyed the power of sin and lends us strength to become His loyal subjects. (Luke 1:26-56) Tune in on the radio or at www.lutheranhour.org. The Lutheran Hour can be heard on KMON, 560 AM Sundays at 7:00 am; or on SiriusXM Family Talk Channel 131at 10:00 am (EST).Also available on SENTRadio 24/7 @ lhm.org/sentradio. Lutherans for Life ~ December 16 th ~ We love children as they can remind us of the simple fact of love s openness and embrace of new life and communion of one person with another. Children can open up our hearts to this. That our society now treats children the way it does is a dark shame, another sign of its separation from God. Regardless, we confess that Jesus Christ, Son of God, has come in the flesh and preach these glad tidings to all. James M. Kushiner, The Fellowship of St. James A Life Quote from Lutherans for Life www.lutheransforlife.org

The birth of a certain child two thousand years ago in Bethlehem prompted a poet in the nineteenth century to ask a very uncommon question in a hymn: What Child Is This? It was an uncommon question because it asked about the birth of a very uncommon child. What Child Is This? The angel who announced this child s birth on Christmas Eve answered the question this way: a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. The hymn writer answered it this way: This, this is Christ the king. They both want to make known the identity of this child. Join us Wednesday December 19 th at 6:00 pm for soup supper and stay for Advent worship as we prepare our hearts to receive the new born King.
