There s A Sweet, Sweet Spirit In This Place 620 Parkrose Avenue Memphis, TN 38109 901.785.1612 www.mt-vernon.org SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:00 A.M. FEBRUARY 12, 2017 ANNUAL USHERS EMPHASIS MONTH Dr. James L. Netters, Senior Pastor Reverend Melvin D. Watkins, Co-Pastor
OUR AFFIRMATION OF FAITH I believe in God, the maker of Heaven and Earth, the ruler and preserver of our lives. I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, my Lord, and Savior. I believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeded from the Father and Son, who is the giver of life. I believe in the Bible, the Universal Church, Holy Baptism, and the Lord s Supper. I believe in the Resurrection of the dead and life in the world to come. With God All Things Are Possible RESPONSIVE READING Matthew 19:23-29 (NKJV) LEADER: 23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. CONGREGATION: 25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. 27 Then Peter answered and said to Him, See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have? LEADER: 28 So Jesus said to them, Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ALL: 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first. LEADER: The Word of God, for the People of God. ALL: GLORY BE TO GOD! BENEDICTION Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow; Praise Him, All Creatures Here Below; Praise Him Above, Ye Heavenly Host Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen Our Mission The Mount Vernon Baptist Church- Westwood exists to honor God in all that we do, proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and live by the power of the Holy Spirit.
