SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT Our Lady of Victory continues to follow the Diocese of Columbus commitment to the protection and safety of children and the SAFE ENVIRON- MENT PROGRAM. The Safe Environment Program states that all Volunteers 18 year or older who would like to participate in parish programs or ministries who have been delegated care, custody or control of children must complete two steps: 1) Attend a Protecting God s Children Session (one time only); and 2) Complete BCI Fingerprinting. The current schedule for attending a PGC Session is always posted on the VIRTUS website. Go to: www.virtus.org. Click on the Yellow Registration button just beneath the login and follow steps to register. BCI Fingerprinting can be done at Fast- Fingerprints on Bethel Road. If you have any questions on how to complete either of these steps, please contact Pat Fulcher at religioused@ourladyofvictory.cc or go to the Our Lady of Victory website ourladyofvictory.cc find the Our Parish Tab, then Protecting God s Chil- Extraordinary Ministers: MINISTRY SCHEDULES 5:00pm SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15 Lynn Early, Kerstin Humphreys, Dorie Kirwin, Connie Leach, Regina Quinn Lectors: Joe & Andrea Tose Servers: Gracie Helfrich, Mary Murray, Aiden Winslow Ushers: Jim & Andy McCauley, Tom & Lindsay Komlanc Extraordinary Ministers: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16 Dick Miller, Paul & Jackie Milsom, Theresa Roman Lectors: George Blubaugh, Gretchen Blubaugh Servers: Sophia Cacchio, Josh Keil, Jane Mason Ushers: Randy Harlor, Jeff Panuto, Mike Roman Eucharistic Ministers Homebound: Judi Beight, Jeanne Bogen, Neil & Jennifer Clouser, Dave McCurdy, Christine Pirik Extraordinary Ministers: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16 Marcia Bohley, Ann Gabriel, Kathy McKinney, Steven Meier, Rosemary Myers, Joy Russell Lectors: Bob Leboeuf, Heidi Yurkiw Servers: Alex Milano-Gay, Ian Roedinger, Laine Schooley Ushers: Nick Melaragno, Fred Lombardi, Tony Polletta, Mark McPherson Collection Counters: Todd & Carolyn McDaniels, Debbie Squillace Elizabeth Rusnak, Irene Clay, Patricia Baumann, Reid Hudson, Jada Brady, Jake Koch, Casey Browning, Isabella Karst, Andrew Johnson, Frank Michael, Cynthia Carson, Gina Harrobin, John Magnacca, Olivia O Brien, Sue and Sylvia Bender, Elizabeth Rossel, Brenda Martin, Katie Custer, Annabelle Marshall, Rosemary Studer, Joy Russell, Bill Guttliep, Nick Haring, Denisi Family, Rose Sliemers, Aaron Rieck, Teresa Ciotola, Andre Bond, Lovre Dzolic, Dannie Terrel, Bridget Lowe, Gina Sansotta, Dani Crabtree, John Lenhart, John & Joan Hamar, Anna Reed, Tayla Riddle, John & Rosemarie Mayhan, Betsy May, Michael H. OUR LADY OF VICTORY CHURCH December 9, 2018 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Love Always! Have respect for each other. If God chose me, He chose you. If He loves me, He loves you. If He trusts me, He trusts you. Never use ugly words for each other. Don't try to see what is bad. Find out what is nice about each other. St. Teresa of Calcutta The Second Sunday of Advent Celebrating Grace We set aside time to contemplate Christ s coming and to take spiritual stock of ourselves. God will give us the divine assistance we ask, to look at our lives and make them better in preparation for Christ s birth. Prayer..Lord, show me where in my life I need to slow down and/or get rid of an unnecessary task in my life that takes away from my family and, from most especially, time with you. Amen. Classes resume on Sunday, January 6

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT Mary: The Perfect Symbol of Advent (an Excerpt) Mary lived a hidden life. For nine months, she sang, walked, laughed, ate and felt the swelling of life within her. At times, she may have felt weary, ill and apprehensive: the same things all mothers-to-be feel. And then came the birth, with the painful laboring to bring forth life. And then the moment when she looked into the baby s eyes and knew this was no ordinary child. Jesus Christ was kept safe in Mary s womb and then protected in her arms. Without her, we never would have had the miracle of the Incarnation and the miracle of the Resurrection. In her own quiet way, this humble girl helped bring about the world s salvation. Like every baby born, Jesus had to learn to walk, talk and to say his prayers. Mary helped Him with all these things, with the joy all mothers know. She is our mother too, and during Advent, she will help us empty our lives of whatever is keeping God away. She will help us prepare a chalice in our hearts to receive God s love. She will teach us how to pray. Dear Mary, show me how to hold the Christ Child safely too, and to cherish Him in my heart, and let me give birth to Him in the world. Teach me to say: Be it done to me according to Thy word. From The Georgia Bulletin, The Newspaper of the Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta
