We have a choice about where we place our trust. When we trust tangible but limited resources, we are vulnerable to anxiety because people and things can let us down. God s love has no limits. When we trust him, place our cares in his hands and follow his plan for us, we have no need for worry. LITURGY OF THE WORD In the first reading, King Joash refuses to trust in God, instead transgressing his commands and killing Zechariah. God punishes him with defeat and strips him of his burial rights. In the Gospel, Jesus reminds us that the Father knows our every need. Faith For Kids - For it will not be you who speaks but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Matthew 10:20 Jeremy is the shortest kid on his basketball team, so everyone is surprised that he scores the most points and gets the most rebounds. His friends all want to know how he does it. Jeremy says it s because he practices. But everyone insists there must be something else. Finally he blurts out, It s God who does it, through me. Jeremy s right. God gives us every gift and talent we have. It s up to us to find those gifts and do our very best with them. Lord, I m not really sure what I m good at. Please help me figure this out. Ministry equips us to deepen our love for God and share our faith Wedding Anniversary Blessings will take place TODAY after all Masses. Those couples married during the month of June are welcome. Did you Know - Safety trumps good manners As parents/caregivers, we teach children to say please and thank you, to play nicely, and to respect other adults. It is also key to stress the importance of safety, and let children know that it is okay to be impolite if they feel threatened or scared. Children should know that it s okay to say NO if someone is asking them to do something they don t feel comfortable doing, and that setting boundaries by saying things like -- Don t touch me there, or I don t like that -- are not rude, but in fact necessary for their safety. For a copy of the complete VIRTUS article Exceptions for Children on Society s Rules about Being Polite visit: http://www.laarchdiocese.org/org/protecting/pages/ VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx FACT OF LIFE Satan Wants Us to Remain in Sin. Even the gravest sin of abortion can be forgiven by our loving and merciful God. If you are away from the Catholic church, come back to the forgiving, loving arms of our Savior. Satan wants us to feel that we can never be forgiven, but that is a lie from the Father of all Lies. Go to confession. Be forgiven. Come back to the Sacraments of Life. Do not be ashamed to enter again into the Church. Be ashamed when you sin. Do not be ashamed when you repent. Pay attention to what the devil did to you. These are two things: sin and repentance. Sin is a wound; repentance is a medicine. Just as there are for the body wounds and medicines, so for the soul are sins and repentance. However, sin has the shame and repentance possesses the courage. - St. John Chrysostom http://restlesspilgrim.net/blog/2018/ /23/donot-be-ashamed/ Healing is there for you: bethesdahealing.org SOCIETY OF ST.
