ATONEMENT UPDATE Page 1 January 2011 DISCOVER GOD S LOVE January 2011 The newsletter of ATONEMENT LUTHERAN CHURCH Wesley Chapel Florida 29617 State Rd. 54 Wesley Chapel, FL 33543 Office: (813) 973-2211 Fax: (813) 973-0950 Email: office@be-at-1.org a chat with the pastor "I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6 All around us they are digging, dumping, paving and rolling. We pass within inches of orange barrels and construction workers. It s all a little hectic, a little confusing, and with all that traffic, more than a little dangerous. This is why your council has decided to hire some assistance from the Pasco Sheriff s Department in helping us move traffic in and out on Sunday mornings. The deputies will be there to make sure people keep alert as they exit and enter church property each week, at least until construction is over. At that point, State Road 54 will be a divided highway with a median out in front of the church and no opportunity for a left turn. We are recommending everyone get used to turning right as you exit. For those who live east of the church, find a place you can turn around comfortably (such as making a left turn into Brookside). Take it easy, be careful out there, and have a safe and happy New Year! Peace, Pastor Scott Left: the Silent Night comes alive at the Live Nativity Dec. 18th. Right: Scott Giesking as a shepherd, Pastor Scott, Brian Lindner and Bendji Balthazar are wise men

ATONEMENT UPDATE Page 3 January 2011 Thanks go out to Frank Reams and all those who helped crafted the wonderful Bible holders under each pew in the sanctuary. These not only hold our Bibles, but they make all our chairs sturdier and they are wide enough to hold a hymnal as well. We are grateful that we now have the Lutheran Study Bibles available for use during worship. Beginning January 2, 2011 Atonement will be offering 2 worship services Sunday mornings. In addition to the 10am service, we are starting the Heritage service at 8;45am. This shorter service is led by the Celebration Band and features upbeat music and communion each week. Feel free to join us for worship at either service! AUDIO-VISUAL TEAM So far the team has been a success!! Since September we have sent out over 100 DVD s to home bound members and loved ones. For someone to start receiving the dvd s just give the person or persons name and address to Renee Kimray or call her at 813-780- 8252, 813-778-3077.

BABY SHOWER The next Baby Shower is Saturday February 19th in Dade City. The Baby Shower is an event that occurs three times of year and offers a little bit of extra assistance to migrant/farm worker mothers-to-be. New items are always appreciated, but gently used clothes, toys and baby items like playpens, car seats, cribs, are also greatly needed. If you have a larger item and need transportation assistance, please call Jean at 813-991-5083. SHARE The Share organization [shareflorida.org] is no longer functioning. The economy has become so bad that families could no longer pay even two weeks ahead to get bargain prices and not enough other folks were buying items off the menu. The Share bulk food buying program is still operating in other states.
ATONEMENT UPDATE Page 8 January 2011 ANGELFOODMINISTRIES.COM Angelfoodministries is another organization like SHARE. Check out their website [you might want to buy something there] but also so you know something about it. So many of us live here in Pasco county, work in another with people from yet other counties. A fellow employee might want to stretch their food buying dollar, or might be worrying about a relative in another county [or state]. If you are acquainted with Angelfoodministries [or Share for other states] you might be able to provide some helpful information. Angelfoodministries accepts online payments, so someone could easily buy a selection at Angelfoodministries for a relative somewhere else. Angelfoodministries operates in other states, too [as Share still does]. Check out their webside -- angelfoodministries.com CHRISTAIN SOCIAL SERVICES 5514 Land O Lakes Blvd., Land O Lakes, FL 34639, 813-995-0088, css5514@verizon.net December 23, 2010 To all of our friends and supporting Churches, Once again we experienced the wonder of God s blessing and Christ s people in action. If you provided toys, thank you. If you provided money for food baskets, thank you. If you provided your precious time to help us, thank you. Many of you helped with all of the above, thank you! A special thanks to Land O Lakes Church of God and First United Methodist of Land O Lakes for the use of their facilities for our Share-the-Season program. We pray for these receiving families as they struggle to make ends meet and provide for their children. We pray that they will see the goodness of God in the bounty on their table. God has given Christian Social Services the opportunity to be a blessing to the poor and those in crisis situations. Thank you for helping us help those in need. Be blessed as you have blessed others! Sincerely, Jacquie Petet Executive Director
