Are you familiar with the Holy Name Prayer Line? It is a group of 30+ parishioners (called the Prayer Line Partners) who pray for anyone who is in need of prayers for any reason. It could be an illness, loss of a loved one, etc., or a special intention. We invite you to share your prayer needs by calling Ann at the rectory (733-5823). You don t even have to give us your name just who (first name only, or you can say a woman, a man, a parishioner) the group would pray for and a very brief reason (i.e., surgery, illness, special intention, etc.) for the request. We compile a daily list (Monday through Friday) and email it to the partners who have emails, and it is called in to those who do this by phone (first person calls the second, and so on). New partners always welcome. Please contact Ann at the rectory, 733-5823, with your interest. STEWARDSHIP Collections for December 1 & 2, 2018 total $8,084.17! We truly appreciate your generosity and support. Sr. Melinda continues seeking DONATIONS of individually wrapped butterscotch or peppermint candies, Tootsie rolls, lollipops, granola, and packs of peanut butter crackers for the candy bags that our parish is providing to Holy Cross to enhance their Sandwich Ministry for the homeless. Any of these items that you can provide is warmly appreciated! Many long time active Parishioners are now homebound or in nursing homes. Please help us bring them a bit of Holy Name by taking part in our Giving Tree Program. It means so much to them to be remembered by someone from the parish. HOW IT WORKS Please choose an ornament from the Giving Tree in the Church sanctuary by the altar. Take the ornament home with you, as it has the parishioner s name and address on the back. This ornament is then given to the person, along with another gift of your choice. (Please see list of suggestions below.) Before visiting, please call and set up a time that is convenient for both of you. Most homebound, either at home or in a nursing facility, will enjoy having visits from children. If you have any questions, please give Sr. Melinda a call. SOME GIFT SUGGESTIONS Candy, Cookies New religious statues Large print word puzzles Hand and body lotion Lap robe Gift certificates (Note: Please try to deliver the ornament and gift at least twice; but if unable, please either donate it or keep it.) 0907 Page 4

Seminarian Fund and Christmas Fund Please consider picking up an envelope entitled "Seminarian Fund" from our Christmas Giving Tree. The envelope will contain directions on how you can send a seminarian a gift for Christmas. You can also send a donation in the name of your seminarian to: Vocations Office, diocese of Springfield, 65 Elliot St., P.O. Box 1730, Springfield, MA 01102. In addition to our prayers, any way we can support our seminarians is a great help. Thank you for your consideration. The OPEN PANTRY is in need of the following food items: Oatmeal or hot cereal, Peanut Butter, Canned meats and Spaghetti Sauce But please, we ask that you do not bring any: Perishables of any kind (bread, potatoes, fresh vegetables, etc.) Pick-ups are not done every week, so any items like this will go bad. Partially used/opened items Also, please check expiration dates. We cannot give them items that have expired. Are you looking for that special Christmas gift for those special persons on your list who seem to have everything? Please consider purchasing a brick in our Memorial Walk. Bricks will be installed in 2019. brick: $100.00 Please contact the rectory at 733-5823 to obtain a form for purchase. Cost per SERVICE We will be decorating the Church for Christmas on Sunday, December 23 rd, after the 12:30p.m. Spanish Mass. If you are available, your help will be very much appreciated! LOAVES AND FISHES On the first Monday of every month, members of our parish gather at South Congregational Church on Maple Street to serve a meal to the hungry of our city. We are sure you will find it to be a positive and rewarding experience, and it is so organized, it won t take a lot of your time. American Chop Suey is the meal we serve. If you can help with the cooking or serving, please call Ann at the rectory, 733-5823, or if you decide to come and don t have time to call ahead, that s fine, too. Meals can either be dropped off between 4:15 and 4:30p.m., or stay and serve and be out in about an hour. You ll find plenty of safe, off-street parking right in the church parking lot. Since we have lost some of our volunteers, if you can help out, it would be greatly appreciated!! Concerning Hospital Visits If someone in your family is in the hospital and you want to have Fr. David, Fr. Joyce or Sister Melinda visit, please call the rectory at 733-5823 and leave a message for either father or Sr. Melinda, (ext. 130). Unfortunately, a parishioner s name is not always on the daily list of Holy Name patients; so we ask that you give us a call with the information (name, which building, room #, etc.). This way you or your loved one will be assured of a visit. 0907 Page 5

OLD BUSINESS The Neighborhood Dinner on Monday November 19th sponsored by Sgt Wadlegger and the C3 Police Unit was a big success. Approximately 90 meals were served.
