Wednesday, ten (10) days in advance of the weekend of publication. PARISH REGISTRATION: Welcome all new families and individuals. Membership is a condition for the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion at St. Benedict, and for the parish to issue a sponsorship certificate for those asked to be sacramental sponsors. You must be a registered, contributing member for at least three (3) months before a certificate will be given. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If you are seriously ill, going in for surgery or weak from old age, you may receive the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Please contact Fr. Duong if you desire to receive this sacrament. HOSPITAL & NURSING HOME & SHUT-IN VISITS: If you or any members of your family are sick and in the hospital or a nursing home, and you d like Communion brought to them, please call the Parish Office. FAITH FORMATION: All classes from Pre-K to High School are on Sundays from 9:30-10:30am in the Parish Hall. For more information call Lynne McGrath. PARISH NEWS SHARING GOD'S GIFTS 2015 DSA APPEAL As of today 69 of our parishioners have contributed. June is a popular month for weddings. Did you know that Marriage Preparation is a function of Catholic Charities Diocese of Charlotte and funded in part by the DSA? You can donate online at www.charlottediocese.org/dsa or by returning the pledge form that you received in the mail. Our assessment this year is $22,485.41. Thank you for your generosity. MASS FOR THE MILITARY: His Excellency, Bishop Peter J. Jugis, will celebrate a Mass for U.S. military personnel on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Charlotte. The Mass and rosary (to be recited at 3:00 p.m.) will be offered for all military personnel who have died and for those who are now serving. All military personnel are invited and encouraged to come in uniform. Photos of those who have died or who are now serving in the military will be displayed in the Cathedral. To include your service member, preferably in uniform, please mail a color or black & white photocopy of them with their name and military rank on the back of the photocopy to Nancy Weber, Office of the Bishop, 1123 South Church Street, Charlotte, NC 28203 to be received no later than July 13, 2015. (Please do not send original photographs as they will not be returned. THE LADIES GROUP will be going out to dinner on Wednesday, June 17 th. We will meet at Old Europe Restaurant and Bakery at 1315 Bridford Parkway at Landmark Station Shopping Center at 5:50pm. No reservations are required. Please plan on joining us. My family and I would like to thank the parishioners of St. Benedict s Church for their support and prayers during our recent loss. PARISH PICNIC NEWS!!! It will be on Sunday, September???, 2015. Please keep that day open on your calendars. There will be more details to follow as they develop. An organizational meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 1 st, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the Church Rectory. As been our practice to open this meeting to all parishioners including last year s dynamic group. If you would like to be part of a fantastic team of hard working people you are cordially invited to attend this meeting. Keep an eye on the Parish Bulletin in the coming weeks for more Picnic News In addition, we will be in need of door prizes for this event. We will begin the march at the parking lot at 1524 Palmer St. Charlotte, NC 28203 (across from the Pastoral Center) at 11:30 am. Instructions prior to marching will begin at 11:15 am. Please arrive early to park and be prepared for the instructions by 11:15 am. The march will include Fr. Michael Kottar pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, NC preaching at Trade and Tryon Streets followed by the Litany for Religious Liberty. Then we will pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in front of the Federal Courthouse at 401 W. Trade St. Charlotte.
