LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT CANDLE PREPARE Jennifer & Joe Baker Advent is a time to prepare. During Advent we prepare our eyes to see the light of Christ. During Advent we prepare our hearts to receive the Word of Christ. During Advent we prepare to share the joy of Christmas. This morning we light three candles. The first candle reminds us that Advent is a time to wait upon the Lord. We wait for the unfolding of God's plan in accordance with God's time. The second candle reminds us that Advent is also a time to watch. During Advent, we eagerly watch for God's presence and work in our world. As we light the third candle we also remember that Advent is a time to prepare. During Advent, we prepare ourselves in heart, soul and strength to welcome our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who was, and is, and is to come. Let each of us ask God to prepare us to celebrate the glory of Christmas. Each year, from the start of the Advent Season through Christmas Eve, we conduct the "Essentials for SHARE Drive" where we focus on collecting non-food items that are critically important to the people SHARE serves. This year the focus of the drive is collecting baby wipes and disposable diapers (especially sizes 5 & 6). Please bring your donations to the church on Sunday 12/9, 12/16, 12/23 or Christmas Eve, or to the church office during the week. All items will be placed under the Chrismon Tree and then taken to SHARE for distribution. We hope to make this year's drive the most successful yet; thank you for participating! CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE Bring your family and friends to celebrate Christmas Eve on Monday, December 24th, at 7:00 pm. Experience "The Noisy Nativity", an activity for children of all ages.
